My first was Sailor Moon also I saw it when I was really young and couldn't tell the difference between TV cartoon girls and real life girl. So I watched and feel in love with Ray(Sailor Mars) and then I found out she was fake and I was sick for liking the cartoon girl even though I still think Ray is hot(if she was real)

Well, the first anime I ever saw was Sailor Moon (and I watched near a whole season of it- boredom at a sleepover, and she was Sailor Moon obsessed.) It was mildly interesting, but I can't say it did too much for me. Gundam Wing was next, I saw five episodes at a friend's house, and just about the same thing. I didn't get "into" anime until ninth grade, when given a different lunch than my friends, I asked a girl I knew from French class if I could sit with her. Well, she liked this thing called Ranma 1/2...

She talked about the fanfics all the time, and before I had even watched a single episode, I liked it. I began reading fanfics, and then I saw the first movie, and finally most of the episodes. So, I went backwards, but hey, I ended up in the same place.

Hmm... I'd have to say DBZ was the first anime ever saw in the middle school, but I really didn't watch it. I only saw it because my brother was watching it. So... although it was the second anime I ever saw, I think Wrath of the Ninja was truly my first anime because when I saw it, I was amazed. I was like "this animation is so cool!" I was hooked ever since and am an even bigger otaku than my brother.

Actually, I was in love with Totoro, since it was the first anime movie I ever saw. ^_^ I still love it.

But anyways, I thought Tenchi Muyo was stupid when I saw it. *shrugs* It was the first time I watched an anime other than Totoro, and I was in 4th grade. I wasn't impressed or anything, and I ended up watching Nickelodeon.

...(Wow. People are still posting in this, I'm impressed.)

All joking aside, back to the point...

I still remember some of the first OVAs I ever watched, such as Gunsmith Cats and Birdy the Mighty (still can't find a DVD...)

First Anime movies were definately Darkside Blues and Ghost in the Shell, I still watch'em both.

Got any opinions on those?

my first was sailor moon. but I didn't even know what anime was until sixth grade (sad isn't it?) I got hooked on it when I read ranma 1/2 at my friends house although he only had it for the more revealing parts of the book (the frickin pervert) anyway it just changed my life from then on I started getting horrible grades and oh no no I didn't I only have one favorite but I like all anime in itself but my fav is FLCL why because it's probably something I'd make if I could!

The first anime I saw was Osamu Tezuka's Unico series. I was real young at the time. Some other earlier animes I've seen were Galaxy Express 999 and the Robotech series. For some reason, Galaxy Express 999 left an impression on me and led me to my love of the planets and space.

Well, let's see...

The first anime I saw, like many people here, was Sailor Moon. It was kinda shoved down my throat by the kids I babysat, so I didn't really enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I like it now.

Next were a few more I didn't like, Pokemon and Digimon, also shoved down my throat (and I still don't like it). I didn't have a very high opinion of anime.

I watched some Gundam Wing on Toonami a few years later, and I liked it, but I wasn't hooked in yet.

Then I met my friend Tania, a full-blooded otaku. She took me to Spirited Away, and I loved it. Then she introduced me to Cowboy Bebop, and I was hooked from then on.

I think my first anime was if anybody remembers...The Samuai Pizza Cats. I remember watching it when i was like....3 or 4. All i remember is them shooting out of a house and the weird cats loving pizza. Hence the name.

But later on it was ....Pokemon, then Digimon, all those kiddy shows.

Hmm.. I'm a bit older than some of the people here... does anyone remember Mega Man? From way, way way back I can remember watching that as a little kid. Sailor Moon was on too, but I don't remeber watching it. Then anime faded out for a while.. then it was DBZ one saturday morning when no one else was around. Then I got my other brothers and sisters to watch it. Now they watch what I let them watch :). Watching DBZ at midnight led to uncut Gundam Wing, and that led to oh so many others... now most of the anime I watch isn't shown on tv. Oh well. (Thinks about Chobits and Love Hina...)

Hmm... Now that I think about it, I do remember some anime-ish thing as a child that had cars in it.. and robots. Would that happen to be Speed Racer? Would anyone like to clarify this, as to what Speed Racer is about? (Were there any robots, or a plot to take over the world by a bad guy? If not, then I'm thinking about something else, and would like to find out what it is that I'm thinking about.)
