(Damian goes to the combat training area and walks over to David, who is in charge of it)
David: I thought you had to see Ilmiwyrth.
Damian: I already did that. He gave me an assignment, and I plan to leave tonight. My destination is near Corock, a city I've been to. I plan to appear there as soon as I can, which is when night falls here. Until then, I thought I'd train. I don't want to die on this one.
David: What, is there an object with this mark you keep talking about?
Damian: Yes, actually. I'm so close now, and I am not going to die when I've almost found the key.
David: Whatever. Anything special you want to do for training?
Damian: Not really. I do want suprises, though. I don't know what I'll face tonight, so I need to be ready for anything. I need to test my ability to react to suprises, so whatever you set up for me, give me some.
David: Got it.

From the trees a large fluffed tail swung back and forth, back and forth. two red eyes peered from the tree as a small white cat-like creature lay below by the name Kyoto. (avatar) it meowed as it climbed the tree and sat on the creature's soldier.

The creature peered over and watched the fight of Ilmiwyrth and Rali. She was intreagued by their swift and quick movements.

She turned and looked down to see everyone suddenly packing.

"Huh?" Was all she could say as she threw herself from the tree.

She had the ears of a feathered bat with white hair and blue eyes that glowed... but in the darkness they were red, she was tall and had taloned hands. She had wings but couldn't be used for flying due to their condition, in every corner inch was a hole. Her legs were strange... that fact true, they bent back. She wore nothing but a chest armour piece under a black trench coat that covered the lower half of her face (The nose down).

She climbed down and walked around. Many of the lieutenants stared in fear to see her but soon got used to her and ignored.

She walked into a tent and stared to see Aidian.

"Tonight eh?" She asked.

"Yes, we're taking over Corock Sei" Aidian explained.

"Such a small town... but yet... there's folklore in the town of dragons..." The demon now known as Sei said.

"Will any assassination attemps be made?..." Sei asked as she contunued. "If there is, call upon me M'lord Sei... I am a demon assassin... although, by that, I don't mean that I slay demons... I slay humans... os M'lord Aidian... at anytime... just say my name and I will kneel before you ready to assassinate" Sei said as she kneeled and faded away before Aidian himself.

"Kyoto come" Sei said sternly as her cat-like companion ran to her and jumped to her shoulder.

Sei made her way out to the blacksmith's corner.

"Blacksmith... where is my sword?" Sei asked.

"That was a piece of junk... here" The Blacksmith said as he threw Sei a new sword.

"Not a new one, and not an old one, Sharp sword can cut through anything in only half the time it normally takes" The Blacksmith said as he continued his work.

"Thanks... it'll be of good use" Sei said as she waved bye and went to her tree and lay there once more for the time being...

Aidian had to keep an eye on Sei. As loyal as she was, you could never be too sure of demons. Sometimes their brutal insticts got the better of them. he'd known three under his command before who'd rampaged through his own men, causing great deals of damage. Mind you, they'd never been like Sei before.

He rolled up the maps and threw them to the pile of scrolls in one corner of the tent.

His glaive stood in one corner of the tent. An ancient weapon handed through the generations of his city, he'd taken it from the stand above the throne. The prophets said it held an ancient magic that allowed its bearer to manipulate the wind and ice, and it seemed to work well for him. He enjoyed setting cold retribution on those who stood against him. He cast his mind back to when he took it...

* * *
"Should I take it?" The young, white-haired warrior asked, looking back at the visier cautiously.

"It does bear great power, my lord. A formidible weapon with no known power second to it. Although we have strayed little outside of this city. Ilmiwyrth may well harbour something stronger." the wisened old man said, closing his eyes.

"An equal to Ilmiwyrth?"

"Possibly. The power inside it is very great. It has stayed in these moutnains for centuries."

His purple cloak flowed majestically behind him and he tapped his sceptre on the ground steadily- a habit the old man had always had. Some said it was a nervous twitch, while more 'educated' scholars believed it was an ancient practice to withdraw spirit energy from the earth.

Aidian reached for the glaive slowly. Just as his fingers were about to touch the handle, a hand grabbed his shoulder and whirled him round.

"But!" the royal adviser barked. "It comes at a price to those who bear it. For the power of the ice inside it will transform your soul, and you may live your life as cold as the ice running through its blade."

Aidian looked into the old man's eyes. They burned with a fire Aidian had never seen before. He pulled back slightly. That couldn't be true. He didn't believe him. He was probably trying to discourage him from weilding the power too uickly, before he was ready. Anyway, he knew his goals were for good. Even if he was devoid of soul, he'd still be acting for the good of the world. He had to be.

Aidian looked back at the weapon, brushing the hair away from his eyes. Deep within him he had a burning desire to bring himself to glory. He knew he could change this world for the better if he was powerful enough.

Slowly, he stretched his hand to the laive. Its shaft glittered in the light, the strands of silver intwined with its white-shaded wood reflecting the light all around the room.

He stopped again. What would Rayne think? Surely she'd be pleased that he'd be trying to help the world. He's not trying to destroy it, whatever she says. Power is only evil if you can't control it.

His fingers gripped around the handle...

* * *

And this was the way to help the world. Aidian knew it. His powers at Ilmiwyrth's side could bring so much to everyone. He had to become the higher power. Rayne just couldn't see it.

But she didn't matter any more. None of the past did. All he could see was the way ahead.

Grabbing the glaive, he walked outside and leapt onto his horse. behind him were several thousand battle-scarred troops, all waiting for his command.

Ilmiwyrth caught Rali's raised eyebrow. His response was in a semi amused, semi tired, long suffering drawl.

Ilmiwyrth: Everyone has a story in this place. Everyone has some mystic destiny. Everyone has some deeper hidden purpose.

Rali laughed in commiseration and they walked off the field, the archery lesson having finished from the day. They ended up with Ryshiel and Otku, strolling easily along. Despite the quasi-relaxed atmosphere, Ilmiwyrth noted Rali's ever roaming eye and shook his head. He was good, no question, but he'd need to learn to react.

They had several ex military types here. Always, the complete and utter lack of anything more than marginal discipline was a shock. Not that Ilmiwyrth really cared all that much. He just didn't like drill seargents. Ryshiel looked at the both appraisingly, a semi amused expression on her face.

Ilmiwyrth: What now?

Ryshiel: Nothing really. Just that this is the last thing we all need. Another one of you.

Ilmiwyrth: I'm sure there are a surprising number of people who agree with you.

Rayne had set herself down on the outskirts of Corock and was now walking into town, but her mind was on other things. She was thinking of how it was before. How Aidien hadn't always been the cold-hearted Captain he was now. She remembered, in the past, how they once cared for one another...

***

"Aidien, you can't do this. Ilmiwyrth is no one you want to side with. I can sense it."

"Rayne, you worry entirely too much. Can't you see that with Ilmiwyrth we can make our land great?"

"At what price?! How many lives must be taken in order to "make our land great"? Tell me!"

Aidien sighed heavily. Why was it that she couldn't see the glory that Ilmiwyrth could bring to Reika? By making the people see the truth, we could all band together and be an unstoppable nation. Why could she see that...?

"As many as it takes to make you all see, Rayne."

Rayne was shocked at his response. This couldn't be the Aidien she knew. True, he was a warrior and a great one at that, but never before had he acted like this. Rayne walked close to him and put her hands on his shoulders.

"What has he done to you...? What has Ilmiwyrth done to make you act this way? No one should have to die simply for a title of grandeur. You know that."

"This is much more than a battle for a title! Ilmiwyrth wants to show the people what they should be! He doesn't want them to continue to live the lie they have been!"

"There are ways to go about that with going on a murdering spree!"

"But it's the best way to show them."

"...Aidien... Being involved with this has changed you so much. You're going to get yourself killed if you do this. Aidien, I love you, and I don't want to see you lying in a battlefield dead or dying somewhere over this madman's war!"

Rayne looked into Aidien's eyes. There was a cold emptiness there. It had been in his eyes for so long. For the briefest moment, she saw the warmth that had existed there before he'd gotten tangled up with Ilmiwryth, but it was gone before she could blink.

Slowly, Aidien put his hands over Rayne's. He softly kissed her and took her hands away as he did. He then turned and began to walk back into the thick forests that surrounded Rayne's village. He suddely stopped and turned back to her slightly.

"I'm sorry."

***

That memory kept playing in Rayne's head again and again as she walked the steets of Corock. Those last two words echoed in the back of her mind. I'm sorry.

"I...I can't forgive you, Aidien. Not until you come back to me as the Aidien I know." Rayne said to herself.

Rayne finally noticed that she was deep in the heart of the small town, and looked about for a good place to spread the word. As she looked to her left, she saw a pub.

"Hm. 'Aiglan.' I guess this is as good a place as any. Drunks are good for getting news about, even if no one wants to hear it." Rayne said as she walked over and pulled open the door.

The church bell chimed eight as Dante and Esay entered the entered the cathedral courtyard. They had no time to stop and admire the garden.
Dante was greeted as he approached the cathedral doors.

Captain Luca: Dante? Where have you been? Everybody?s inside waiting for you.
Dante: I?m sorry, sir.
Captain Luca: Don?t fret lad, it?s OK. Today is your big day after all.
Dante: Yes sir, I know?
Captain Luca: And stop calling me ?sir?. It?s too formal.
Dante: Well then what should I call you s- heh, uh?guy?
Dante?s face turned bright red.
Captain Luca: Luca is fine, Dante.
Dante: OK?Luca.
There was a moment of awkward silence.
How could I be so stupid in front of the captain? he kept thinking to himself.
Captain Luca: Ha ha. You?re just like your father.
Esay: Hey! I hate to interrupt this meaningful conversation but Dante you?re expected inside.
Captain Luca: Ooh damn! I forgot! Hurry in and let?s get this over with.
Esay: I?ll watch the proceedings from out here Dante.

Captain Luca was a large, burly-looking warrior but it seemed that age was getting the better of him. His hair was silver and he complained of back problems all of the time. He looked like a cruel old man but his personality was the complete opposite.

Dante swung the cathedral doors open. The cathedral was full of friends, townspeople and soldiers who all turned around to face him.
High Priest Milat: And here he is. Dante step over here please.
As he made his way towards the priest, Dante quickly turned from excited to nervous. Everybody was watching him with wide eyes, with anticipation.
High Priest Milat: Dante. Are you ready?
Dante: I don?t know. What if I screw up?
High Priest Milat: You?ll do fine. You don?t have anything to worry about. All you need to do is kneel and accept the code.
Dante: Well?if you?re sure?
High Priest Milat: Of course I?m sure.
The priest faced the crowd.
High Priest Milat: Now without further a do, let us begin.

Ken quietly walked twards the Pub, his mind on many things, as he avoided various hanging sign above shops by reflex. Opening the door to the Pub, he stepped inside, all but the usual people that knew him, stopping somewhat suprised in their tracks by this large man.

He walked quietly over to an all-to-obvious stool- one carefully placed there, larger than the others, and murmered "the usual" while placeing a hand to his forehead. The bartender set down a black elixir that was a special brew Ken had learned from a travelling merchant- strong yet soothing, just the way he liked it.

Sipping contentadly, he finally took the time to look around the Pub. Several new faces, several familar ones that waved or nodded to him, Ken nodding right back to them.

Bartender: Hard times?

Ken: The contrary i'm afraid. Too many weapons, too many scared people. I hope we'll never have to use them, but I know we might. God, what a horridly prosperous time it is to be a blacksmith..

The bartender nodded, as Ken finally set his Axe down heavily on the floor, leaning it against the wall. He hunched over, traceing his fingers over the scars along his arm, as the Bartender went to serve a young woman who was just out of his field of vision...

High Priest Milat: Do you, Dante Jeremiah Barnaman, swear on the Holy Lords name to uphold the virtues of the Infinite Legion?
Dante: I do.
High Priest Milat: Do you swear to protect the innocent, to defend the Holy Scriptures?
Dante: Yeah.
High Priest Milat: to right the wrongs, to bring the unjust to justice?
Dante: Yes.
High Priest Milat: to place the lives of others above your own and to live the life of honour and valour?
Dante: Of course.
High Priest Milat: Are there any among you people that would argue the knighting of this bold young man?
Alexander: Aye.
Once more the entire room full of people turned around.
A young, buff warrior stood half way down the aisle. He was tall, looked a bit older than Esay and had long yellow hair. He was clearly upset.
High Priest Milat: For what reason Alex?
Alexander: Your Grace, this Holy Knighting is a farce.
This started an uproar in the church. After the gasps, there was shouting and arguing.
High Priest Milat: Blasphemer! You dare-
Alexander: You can?t be serious knighting this child. He has only just turned fifteen today! He has had no training, no experience, nothing!
High Priest Milat: Dante is the child of the great Basho.
Alexander: Oh wait. How could I forget that he is the ?child of the great Basho.? Let me ask you something ? did Basho have any training before he was knighted?
High Priest Milat: No but-
Alexander: See! This whole friggin? religion is a sham!
High Priest Milat: Guards take him away!
Captain Luca: Allow me.
Captain Luca grabbed him by the arm but he pulled away.
Alexander: Get your hand off me! I?m leaving.
He stormed out if the cathedral shouting obscenities as he left.
High Priest Milat: Shall we continue?
Dante: Please.
Dante admired the High Priest?s composure.
High Priest Milat: Arise Dante.
Dante stood up. He had been kneeling before the High Priest for a while and his legs had fallen asleep. The Priest blessed Dante?s sword and shield. He then placed a crucifix necklace over his head.
High Priest Milat: Dante Jeremiah Barnaman, I welcome you into the Infinite Legion with outstretched hands. Go forth with honour and glory shall be yours.
The crowd applauded and offered their congratulations on his way out.

* * *

Esay: Here he is! The man of the hour!
Dante excitedly ran outside of the church and began shouting at the horizon.
Dante: I did it! I DID IT! YEAH! HA HA! I am a knight of the legion.
Dante expressed his delight by hugging Esay around the waist.
Esay: Hey take it easy. People might get the wrong idea or something.
Dante: I guess you?ll be calling me ?Sir Dante? now?
Esay: No.
Dante: Aw?
Esay: You haven?t completed your training, so until then your still ?Vertically challenged Dante?.
Dante: Come on. Today?s my big day and all you can do is taunt me?
Esay: Hey I was only kidding.
Esay messed up Dante?s hair.
Esay: I am very proud of you.
Dante: Thanks buddy!
Esay: Hey don?t get all gushy with me or anything. We got a feast to go to, remember?
Dante: Feast?
Esay: In commemoration of your knighting. It can?t be your feast if you?re not there for it. Let?s go.

Sei's large black steed trotted to the front of the line and her steed kneeled before Aidian as she looked to him. She no longer had her trench coat, and she was practically wrapped in body armor.

Without her trench coat she looked almost one hundred percent human, just mind the ears, talon hands, and her legs. She had her steed stand next to Aidian as she let out a quick smile then went back to serious. She once again looked to the troops then Aidian.

Aidian's eyes were cold. Yet to Sei, they burned with passion for the thrill of battle. They motivated Sei, she looked up to him like a father figure, yet she never showed it. Her steed pulled itself up and snorted, Sei stroked its white hair and spoke.

"So M'lord... tonight we will strike the town yes?" Sei asked.

"Yes... I am certain that the troops are ready for battle" Aidian replied.

"I too have faith in the troops..." Sei said. Kyoto's head popped out from her chest armor looking all around then went back in.

"M'lord... I am somewhat worried... even though it is said Corock is fairly any threat to us... what if they do put up a fight?... what if our forces are down?... and what will happen if you die?... surely we will lose our strategy" Sei said, she seemed to be trembling.

"True... but, whatever happens Sei... happens... all those thoughts are in your head... what you fear... not what will happen" Aidian said as he walked forth, ready to give the command at any moment...

(Damian had trained hard untill about noon. After lunch, he had slept{he sleeps a lot durring the day, as he's stronger at night] until sundown. At that time, he immedeately traveled to Corock with the aid of the night. Once there, he had immedeately set out for his destination. He is there, examining the structure. When he sees a blach circle, he touches it and is transported to an underground tunnel)
Damian: Yes! I found it! Finally, I found it. I don't care what I face now. I will find the key, and nothing can stop me.

OOC: Key to what? I wouldn't introduce too much that's story-influencing in a big way yet without asking LK, because it might not be what she has planned.
-------------------------------------
Aidian's horse marched up and down in front of the plaottons of soldiers waiting for their orders to march.

"Once the heavy artillery has fired into the town we'll advance." he ordered to one of the lieutenants, who nodded sharply.

Aidian sat for a while. What was taking them so long?

Suddenly, Sei appeared at his side. "M'Lord, one of the trebuchets has become stuck in the soft ground. The artillery cannot all move to the requested destination." she said softly, watching Aidian's face twist in frustration.

"Where are they?"

* * *

Aidian surveyed the incapacitated siege weapon. Two of its wheels had fallen into a boggy part of the grass, and blocked the way for the others to get past.

"We'll just have to try and fire from here." he said disapprovingly, looking down on the castle. "It's not the angle we want, but it will have to do."

He turned to the weapon operators and snarled. "Just make sure not to hit any of my men. Once we're inside the town, cease fire. Understand?"

Aidian flicked his horse's reins and galloped part-way down the hillside.

"Fire on my signal!" he yelled back to them, continuing on his way towards the infantry.

OOC: Don't worry. I'll make sure she approves what I do. Besides, it'll be a while before Damian actually finds the key.
----------------------------
(Damian walks through the tunnel until he enters a large chamber. On the floor in the middle is the Mark. There are 13 tunnels in the chamber, including the one he entered through. They are evenly spaced around the chamber, and each one except the one he entered through has the Mark above it. He is trying to figure out what to do when he hears a noise behind him. He spins around with his pole out, expecting a fight. Instead, he sees David)
Damian: David? What the hell are you doing here?
David: Fulfilling my purpose. I am to be your guide. My job is to make sure that you know what you're supposed to do, and also to prevent others from interrupting you if they somehow reach this place.
Damian: I always wondered how you knew so much about me. So, what an I supposed to do?
David: You'll notice that each tunnel other than the one used to reach this chamber has the Mark over it. Through each of those tunnels is a challenge. Some involve combat, while others involve finding something. There are a couple that I am forbidden from telling you.
Damian: I assume you can't tell me why you're forbidden?
David: Correct. Now, I have more to say. You must compleate all twelve challenges. Only then will you recieve the key. I will wait here. I'll have more to say when you compleate a challenge. Now, get to work.
Damian; I will. And I will get the key. (He walks down one of the tunnels)

Aidian watched the city from the hillside on his horse, tightening the grip on his white-wood glaive.

From behind him, he heard some of the troops muttering to themselves.

"I've a great girl back home. She's really fantastic."

"Yeah? Me too. She has golden-brown hair, blue eyes..."

Aidian stopped listening and growled under his breath. Love was a weakness. Compassion only got in the way of ultimate goals. So many people had given up their greatest dream for the ones they 'loved'. If they really loved them back then they'd be willing to help them to their dreams rather than holding them back.

A thin whisp of icy air floated from his lips. It was time to launch the attack.

(There is a door at the end of the tunnel, which Damian enters. He finds himself on a hill over Aidian's army. He looks behind himself for the door, but doesn't see it)
Damian: Okay, this is officailly the strangest thing I've ever done. (He sees Aidian) What the hell? He can't be here! Or maybe he can. This might just be real. I might just actually be where I appear to be. It probably doesn't matter. What matters is the goal. What am I supposed to do here? It probably involves Aidian's attack on Corock, so that's where I'll go. (He attempts to use the night to take him there, but it doesn't work) Okay, so no instant transportation. I'll have to move fast to get there in time. It looks like he's ready to move. (He runs into Corock, then stops and looks behind him. He sees that he was correct about the army being ready to attack, because that's what it's doing) The assault has begun. (He looks around) What am I supposed to-holy ****! What the hell are those people doing? You don't run inside to escape this kind of attack. You have to leave the area. (Pause) Oh, ****. They're not trying to hide. That's a nursery. They're trying to save the children. This must be my task. I must need to protect them while they evacuate the children. (He uses the darkness of night to hide from view as he prepares to fight)

Lemme know if this is too early, or too strong he he... I went a little obsessive here...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sei waited at the base of the hill and waited for the moment.
Minutes passed and she grew impatient. She had the urge to charge in to battle, for some reason she had a strange feeling. An urge to slaughter like mad... this, eating at her mind made her feel a bit... barbaric in a way. She felt like those of her kind... a true demon who cared only for slaughter; This worried her a bit.
Thinking she'd rampage through those whom she served, those whom she worked with, and the fact that she would slaughter her own whom were like family.
She stepped back a bit when she saw her reflection in her horse's eyes. She saw how her eyes were red then... they faded and went blue again. She gasped softly to herself and shivered at the thought, she could see it... she saw herself rampaging like mad and many shot at her... she shook her head and lost the thought completely for the while.
Sei climbed on to her horse and pulled the white reins. The horse marched his way over to Aidian and Sei looked at the heavy artillery. The weapon operator aimed the trebuchet at Corock's stone walls.
the troops prepared and awaited for a command signal of some sort.
Sei too wanted to see the signal. She was going crazy with impatience.
Suddenly Aidian threw his hand in the air and the trebuchets fired at the castle.
A thick cloud of dust and rubble from the explosion took the scene as Aidian prepared to send out the troops.
The dust cloud cleared and everyone saw the break in the wall. Aidian unsheathed his sword pointed towards Corock, and yelled aloud as the troops all ran for the town.
Sei pulled on the white reins once more, tightly and her horse ran rapidly along with the other troops. Aidian far in the lead as all advanced for the town.
Aidian burst through the break with his many troops who slowly advanced in their goal to take over.
As slow as they were, progress was slowly made. The people of Corock brought out the artillery they had and fired as much as they could at troops.
Some were shot down and others kept advancing. The sound of guns firing and people dying blow after blow from guns and arrows, swords, axes almost everything you could imagine.
Blood stained the floor and even traveled the ground as the troops took hostage of those in Corock. Others willing to go as long as they weren't harmed.
The troops separated in to groups and entered houses, taking people and their families out of homes and in to custody where it was safe.
Sei and several troops burst in to a small house and took hostage of those within the small home. Then advanced to the next.
Blood covered almost all even those still alive, for blood traveled from all who were slaughtered. Some soldiers sick at the sight of the red streets.
Sei advanced to Aidian to give a status report. Her horse ran like mad as it caught up to the advanced squadron who guarded Lord Aidian to his destination.
"M'Lord, we've covered the Southern land of Corock. Troops are advancing slowly, so far we've taken all hostage... over forty people have been shot down so far for resisting arrest... and so far... over sixty troops have parted from our world..." Sei said.
The rain began to pour as Sei looked to the floor with sorrow.
Aidian let out a silent growl as he turned 'round and saw how quick, diligent, and direct his troops were to succeed.
"Once we take over, perform a short ceremony for those who passed. Then bury them" Aidian said as he turned and kept on.
~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*
"Soon this will be over... and we'll be closer to our goal..." Sei said as she returned to her troops and continued their orders to take over...
