Shinmaru
Damn, I still haven't picked up the game! I've been meaning to for a while now, but I haven't found the time to actually go out and pick it up. Plus, it's a tough decision whether to buy this or Soul Calibur II. OtakuSennen
Haha, as I stated earlier, we got it for my brother's birthday and I'm playing more than him. *likes to keep his promises* This game has some flaws, but overall it really is awesome. Pros: -The graphics (duh). There are dents in the car, and you can see three-dimensional characters when they're in the cockpit.. -Really well-detailed on the scenery as well. So much improvement in the detail category in comparison to the past F-Zero games.. Those were nothing but the track and a repeating wallpaper on the ground. Now we have ships flying overhead, creatures running alongside, and a lot of sounds which distract you and run you into a wall. -The framerate (duh). Despite everything that is going on around you, everything still runs so smoothly. I find myself using the boost ability even moreso than usual just because it looks so stinkin' awesome. Cons: -How the characters move outside of their cars. Ugh, after watching 2 minutes of Samurai Goroh hobble around and bounce in Story Mode made me want to put wheels on Falcon's racer and run over him repeatedly. Same with that Skull person.. He acts all freaky... Also, Mr. Zero or whatever-the-heck that guy who interviews you at the end of a Grand Prix race just stands there and breaths heavily, it looks like. Breaths and breaths and breaths... -The voices of the characters. They're all sort of uninspired and sound like the voices straight out of an old, dubbed Godzilla flick.. They're all so cliche or monotonous or obnoxious I've turned the volume down several times... Hehe, that's about all I have to say... Oh, also, here's a question to keep this thead going some more: Which racers do you have, which is your favorite, and why? I, myself, have only unlocked the Skull man.. And he is my favorite, just because I tend to over-boost and end up getting first place in a photo finish due to that last Y button tap..
Matto Tradagen
Again, I don't own the game itself, but I have my own memory card info on it, so I guess I can answer the question. The only racer I have unlocked is Leon. Seriously, racers don't really matter to me, because my custom machine, Fever Base, is already better than all of the machines built into the game. I save my credits for better parts. He is my favorite. The only real reason is because I like the way he looks..he reminds me of something off of Starfox or something. Racers really don't matter at all to me. I use my custom made machine, and I really don't need to used the machines already available. ~Matto
Desbreko
I've been trying to buy all the preset machines before making a custom one. I've gotten a little under half I think, plus I've been spending a lot of tickets on the story mode chapters. I've done five of the nine chapters so far, and I need to save up some more tickets to get the sixth. Oh, and speaking of Star Fox, take a look at the pilot of the Little Wyvern. His name is James McCloud... Ring any bells, heh? He even looks like James McCloud from Star Fox, from the hair to the headset. I thought that little cameo was amusing. So far I've been doing the best with Deepclaw, piloted by Octoman. He's got a good balance of all three attributes, and his ship is fairly light so you still get decent acceleration with the max speed cranked up. And his answer to the "What was the key to your victory?" question at the end of a Grand Prix is amusing. "I have more arms," lol. :whoops: Has anyone else unlocked the Diamond Cup yet? I did on Friday, and dang is it cool! Dragon Jumps or whatever it's called and Fire Field: Undulation are two of my favorite tracks in the game. And Phantom Road: Slim-Line Slits is just evil! You get so bashed up on that track in Grand Prix mode, even on Novice class, it's not even funny. Definitely the hardest track in the game, at least for me.
Semjaza
I went to Gamestop the other day and traded in some crap I never play. I wound up getting about $70 for it all, so I got F-Zero GX. I didn't wind up playing it until several hours later. When I first started it, I was amazed by how clear it was. It's just incredibly smooth in pretty much every respect. The texture detail, with some exceptions, is just excellent. It's probably the best looking game on the system, in my opinion... and I decided that before I saw some of the cooler tracks. The things going on in the background, in addition to all the crap onscreen... it's just amazing. I didn't get to do much though. I finished the Jack Cup on Novice, started building my own car, played the first chapter of Story Mode and bought Blood Hawk (who I can't stand, the car is too loose). I plan on playing some more today.
Guest masterphred
Originally posted by James The character designs aren't too different to what they've had before. They've always been weird/colorful/varied. Interestingly, if you watch the E3 video, you'll notice an FMV where Captain Falcon gets out of his car and tries to attack another guy who comes up beside him. So it seems like there's more of a story going on here, which may or may not add to the overall game. Either way, it looks gorgeous. Track designs are amazing and the game overall is looking pretty polished. I can't wait for its release.
Can you see the E3 vid. anywhere on the NET? I wanna see it bad, coz that part must've been taken out. And it's awesome, all the profiles and all the friggin techno... :D
Desbreko
I think James just got Captain Falcon and Michael Chain mixed up in the part where Chain comes up out of his machine's cockpit and attacks Falcon while the two are side-by-side. That's just the intro movie to one of the story mode chapters.
