This isn't to do with religion only "Gods" in general, so don't bring religion into it. (And don't quote a bible or I will burn you. )

If there is a god how can it be a he/she/it. We as humans define these as an XY or YY; and if you really unlucky XXYY. Now if these God's are above us in a spiritual sense then they are not going to have those chromosomes or the "equipment" that goes with it.

So again I ask; how can you have a Goddess or a male God?

(Btw I have already thought of logical answers to this. I am just saying it to the people throwing around the words and not thinking about it. So think about it!)

well. i am not christian or atheist. i do not believe in god- but i am open to the possibility. people will always try to convince you that their view is right. tell your parents and your frinds. when they start to say "but, but" "it is evil" "don't do it" just say that it is your choice and that if you want to do it, it is totally up to you. which it is. but do not force your beliefs upon others. merely state your opinions and accept their judgements. do not be forced down by others. it is not worth fighting over religion. friendhip should be considered a religion. much more healthy than any other religion. i think that wars over friendship would be very rare. christianity has argued amongst itself for ages. people discriminate against muslims and islam because it is a minority and associated with the middle-east. religion is just another bone of contention in our materialistic, social-levels, class segregated society. but dont be bitter. make friends, and forget about all the differences that you have, and they have.

Religion is a tricky situation.. I also struggled with my religious identity, I researched different religions and found one that was right for me. I still don't like chruch, and for the time being I must go. But I'm still researching religion and when I'm free on my own I'll know by then(hopefully) what religion I want to become/be.*sigh* I hope you find what you are looking for, and don't worry about your parents, they should love you for what ever you are. And you started to do witchcraft, and you didn't turn goth. Your parents didn't notice the change at all. Find true happiness. Whatever brings you that, stay with that. Because aren't we all just looking for that truth, and happiness in our lives, no matter what that might be?

As a Christian-type person, thing, I ahve to say this:God, no matter what religion, no matter what you think, will love you, you will still get to heaven. God does not say "You're not following my teachings to the exact! Go to Hell!" He loves everyone, no matter what, along with Jesus Christ, our Savior.

To everyone in general: Stop complaining about the topic. We've had much worse. We Moderators will do the moderating and close it when we see fit.

For the topic author: I'd normally honor your wishes, since it's your topic, but this time I'd like for this to continue. We haven't had any horrific flaming yet, and as long as we can stay on with the natural course of conversation, I see no reason this shouldn't continue. Though, if any of my superiors disagree, their's is the last word, of course.

Justin I argree with you to an extent and I mean no offense to you and your beliefs but the girl can do what she wants, she doesn't have to go to a church, like she said. She believes in bigger things like dieties etc.
First of all, she asked us to tell her what we wanted her to do. I did as she asked.
And to me god is god he's there. I don't go to church because I just don't want to. In my own way I'll worship god how I want.
If you're saying you believe in the same God I do, you obviously don't read your Bible too often. "Do not forsake the gathering together of the saints." I'll get back with it's exact location in the Bible, or perhaps Dan can help me there.
But there are times when I doubt there is a god. Like take for example, if there were a god where was he when September 11, 2001 happened? He wasn't there to save those thousands of people that died, now I'm not trying to turn this into a flamming contest but I'm just asking.
He was there, my friend. There should've been some 10,000 there...instead of the 3,000. It just so happened that the attack happened on a day when some 7,000 were given leave? It wasn't even a normal vacation day. As for the rest, you can never truly know the full will of God. There's another Scripture verse that says "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen." In other words, it's by faith(most of mine can be justified by past experiences) that we know all that happens does so within God's all-seeing eyes.
No way am I trying to attack you but just asking in a manner of two mature people discussing a simple topic. I know you could point to the story of Jobe to justify the deaths of those inoccent people but still, I doubt in him sometimes, I mean yes I do belive there is something bigger than us but I don't know what it is. People have been worshipping dieties for ages, I mean look at the Romans or the Greeks, they worshipped at least a dozen gods and that was their religion. Muslims basically view the same religion as Christianity but they view Jesus as a prophet and not the son of god.
First of all, don't worry. I don't feel attacked, or offended. I'm not easily offended about people questioning my God, because it was prophesied. Secondly, Islam is not like Christianity. You may find Muslims who are like Christians in many aspects, but I've researched it. Our doctrines are not even close.
What I'm trying to get at is that we are free to choose what religion we want to view, to me all religions are fine. And she's free to choose what she wants.
This is true. I never said she couldn't. Refer to my first point.

Now this is for the person who said that they were Christian, but believe that everyone is going to Heaven no matter what:

Do you know why it says in the Bible that sinners can't enter Heaven? Most people ponder on this question, and it's probably been a very big deterant from Christianity for many, I'm sure. Let me explain the reason:

God is absolutely holy. Blameless, spotless, and 100% pure. By His very nature, He cannot come into fellowship and contact with sin. Jesus can cleanse us of our sin, but that's about as close as He comes to it.

Heaven is where God the Father resides. It is His home, and the only place where His ultimate glory can be revealed. As I said earlier, He, by His own nature, cannot be polluted by sin. Therefore, those without Him in their heart, and with sin in it, cannot enter into His prescence in such a way. It's an elementary fact, and unchangable, unalterable truth. By that same nature that makes this so, He couldn't change it if He wanted to. He wouldn't be God anymore, and that won't happen. There are many things like this people don't often realize.

Now, I have to apologize for any typos in my post(I'm certain there are many). I'm a little dizzy, and quite tired at this point. I also apologize if I offended anyone. This is the way I am, and if it hurts, I suggest you not read my posts when it comes to things like this.

I find it very strange how some people follow the Bible as God's word ! Same with the Koran... Oh yeah, God talked to these people and they wrote it all down! (Sorry if this offends anyone)
Geez, don't people really know who wrote the Bible?? And those people were not intelligent people, sorry! They did not know about natural disasters or extraterrestrials or evolution or science, etc...:drunk:
And, over the thousands of years, people have translated and read the Bible, etc. to suit their own opinions, needs, purposes, etc.

I am not trying to offend religious people, sorry

but, geez, get educated!

and i'm guessing you met these people in a walmart yesterday, right? i mean, how could they not know about extraterrestrials or evolution? sorry, i just can't see how some one who can creat such a great peice of literature and have logical explinations for everything in his book, plus the fact that it was convincing enough to make trillions of people (and probably a whole lot more, i just don't know how to spell any higher numbers) give up what they have and follow him can be uneducated enough to not believe in aliens. also, evolution is something that most christions don't believe in. also, in the bilble it talk about natural disasters such as famine. also, what you mean by science is questionable. if you mean like modern technology, then you have to consider the fact that they were around thousands of years ago. so please don't make statments like that without evedence. sorry if you find this offencive. if you do pm me about it and don't disscuss it in this thread.

and to the author, if you still have any intrest in christianity, pm me and i'll be glad to talk about it to you. and your friends should be your friends no matter what you deside. if they're true christians they shouldn't hold it against you, unless they feel it may hurt their posistion with god. whatever you chose, it's only your dessision and your the only one who will have to deal with it and pay the consequences. i wish you good luck and hope you find a religion that's right for you.

OK, justin. Considering that god cannot come in contact with sin, or whatever no one would ever get into heaven because everyone sins. Everyone. And if God can't come into contact with sin, that's pretty sad. What happened to the kind and loving God I know? The one who will forgive you of your sins no matter what! The one who loves the entire world? Apparently, he's gone. Apparently he no longer loves sinners. Jesus said that God loved sinners when he came to Earth. If God could never come into contact with sinners, never be in their prescence, then Jesus never could have been with those sinners he consorted with...OK, sorry for the rant....

I know I may regret this, but I'll give my opinion.

First, I believe that people cannot choose a religion. In a sense, a religion chooses them. If you're confused, study a variety of religions, and one will jump out to you. You'll say, "Hey, that makes sense."

Second, I'm a Christian, and I believe in the Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, etc. However, I can't stand people bashing others because of their religion, nor can I stand people who try to convert others. I'll believe what I thinki s right, you believe what you think is right, and we'll know who was really right when we're dead.

What bothers me is when people use religion as a substitute for independant thought. I do not think the Bible is %100 accurate, because it was written and translated by people, and people are flawed. I also do'nt think God is going to do everything for me. He helps those who help themselves. If I'm in a bind I'll ask Him for help, and I know He'll listen, but I'm never going to expect Him to do it for me. I'll try as hard as I can to accomplish my goals; once I've done all I can, it's in His hands.

It is possible to be of a particular religion and not agree with everything that it preaches. I don't agree with the concept of converting others, because I think only the individual themselves can decide their faith. So, I don't follow the conversion concept. It's the same thing as when people of Catholic faiths believe that priests should marry, or that birth control is okay. I say, if God (or whatever diety you yourself believe in) didn't want us to think independantly, he wouldn't have let us in the first place.

Just remember: even if you don't find a religion that suits you, you can subsrcibe to a philosiphy or dogma. In my opinion, the one dogma that can never go wrong is: "Treat others with the same kindness and courtesy as you yourself would want to recieve."

Thank you Justin, Chris, DeathBug, and Orien_Xel for your wonderful insights on Christianity. Even though i'm not Christian, I still like to know how other people see their religion. I've decided, until further notice, that I have no religion - I didn't before, because i didn't go to church, and I know thats no reason not to have a religion but my parents didn't force anything onto me or anything and i'm happy because of that. So - sure, you can keep commenting on your different beliefs, I hope the mods don't get mad because that's pretty off topic, but I don't care what you do on this board because i'm happy with who i am, and I'm not confused any more.
