My theory of every unanswered question on this show....

OK. Way I see it, Tsukasa's a girl.. In a lot of the pics, we see a kid, and (even though it's very tough to see normally) the kid's either wearing short shorts or a skirt.. I go with skirt. This is a wild guess, but I think he may be a picked up orphan as well. You see her at that big apartment/boarding house-like building, then that smiley family comes up, as if they're seeing if he's good child material... He got adopted by a family, who I don't think had any other children. His mom died when he was young, and his father took it rather hard and eased himself in the form of alcoholism.. A few years later, Tsukasa came into "The World" and spent most of his time in the game, because of his rather unpleasant home life. He fought a lot, gaining experience.. (He's a good fighter, even though you barely get to see, Mimiru once said he's "very experienced") Then he entered that dungeon, found that chest, got that tablet thing.. Met Maha, heard that voice.. Entered Aura's world. I think that voice is not really his mother (I mean, that would be creepy if a dead person was talking to you in a video game..) but maybe that "broken man"'s loved one.. Well, not really her, just a memory, some AI, like the broken man. Aura may be their daughter, if they ever had one, or what the old guy imagined what his daughter would look like... (She reminds me like the girl in "The Ring".. Everyone will suffer. :D ) Now.. Tsukasa likes to believe that the voice is his mother because he's looking for some comfort in his loneliness..

This is just one crummy theory... I haven't seen the entire series yet... I'm a newbie so I don't know if there's one solidified theory in this forum.. I just wanted to share that. ^_^

You remember the Fragment Version of the game? Well, what if Tsukasa's mother played that before she died. And, since there is a way for players to keep on existing from the memory of the game, then maybe he did really hear his mother's voice as the system remembers it. How do you know the plug was pulled? It never once said it was. Also, the adoption idea is strange...and the bad homelife, wanting to get away from the loneliness. Very early in the series, he states that he just wants to be alone. Tsukasa's mother must have died when he was older because he knew who she was. If your mother died when you were very young, you probably wouldn't really remember as much as Tsukasa does. He may have started to play the game after she died, and his dad was alive. If she died at all that is...When did it say she died?(if it did, really, when?)
You never know. The Broken Man could be his dad for all you know. Strange, but it could happen.

Tsukasa says that his mother died alone in Episode 11 (Party). My theory is that his parents were divorced and after his mother died, he was sent to live with his father. From everything I've seen, I gather that Tsukasa's father is quite abusive. I believe that Tsukasa's mother was what held their family together.

Also, the theory about Morgana (the voice): In my opinion, I think that it's Emma. She was good friends with the broken man
(he based The World, his creation, off of the Epitaph of the Twilight, her epic poem)
, so she may have played to see what it was like.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the broken man isn't Tsukasa's father. I've compared the man mourning Emma's death in Liminality (I believe that's him) and the man in Tsukasa's flashbacks, and I don't think they look anything alike.

Hm.. Tsukasa's mom was into those old drama movies, right? I doubt she'd part-take in an action-packed game like The World... I could be wrong though...

Hmm... Tsukasa's parents divorced... A good idea...

Hm.. That mourning guy in Liminality.. Over that Emma person.. Remember how the original message about The Key of the Twilight was in German?.. Wait.. So wouldn't that mean that the broken man, the creator of The World is German.. Thus.. Wait.. "THE WORLD" IS GERMAN!? whoa. My head hurts..

When I said Tsukasa's mom died when Tsukasa was young, I didn't mean, like, 4 years old.. I meant more like 8. He (or she) looked about 8 in that one flashback at his (or her) mother's wake, when (s)he was on the floor crying...

Emma's Epitath of the Twilight.. Hey, is that why there's all these relations to the twilight, such as "The land of the Twilight, under the moon" and "The Key of the Twilight", "The Eye of the Twilight", and "The Legend of Twilight's Bracelet?"..

I MUST FIND ANSWERS TO ALL THE QUESTIONS!! I must watch all the anime, read the manga and play all the games!!!!

I say you stop calling Tsukasa a he when hes really a girl, ohhh no did i see he.. Uhh yeah ok so staright to the point, U cant clearley is that Tsukasa in the real world is wearing a skrit at the end of episode 1. But you wonder well Tsukasa told mimiru and he was a guy.. But he cant remember anything in the real world he only remembers what happens in the game.. wicht is weird ok im going to shut up now before i drive myself crazy.. DARN why does .hack sign have to be so damn confusing

His problem is, he's forgotten he's a girl. For some reason, when Tsukasa started playing, she wanted to be a guy for some reason.. Then he became unable to log out, and lost a lot of his memory from the real world... He knows barely anything about his past. Early in the series, he knows practically nothing about himself and the only way he can learn is if he touches Aura...

I don't think that Tsukasa is a girl either...well I'm not sure. He could be a she in real life and a he in The World...I love this show, but it is very confusing. Probably because I started watching it in the middle of the series. But I definitely know this for sure. (S)he is a guy in the game. About the flashbacks. I don't think that the broken man is Tsukasa's father at all. I think that his (I am just going to say that Tsukasa's a he)parents were divoriced, but I don't think that his father was at all to blame, but if he was to blame from abusive behavior, that would explain Tsukasa wanting to be alone. Also, if I remember right...Many kids, probably neighbors or students from his school were mean to him. Like in the flashback of Tsukasa walking his bike with kids little further up the path doing the same thing, but also laughing and ignoring Tsukasa.

What the hell are you guys talking about?
The player controlling the character Tsukasa is a girl, this is revealed later on in the show
It doesn't look like Tsukasa was that young when his mother died, during most of the flashback's Tsukasa in real life seemed to be aged around 7-11. I only say this because the flashbacks from his past all seem to be when he was at one particular age, so I'm only using common sense hear and take a wild guess that all that was roughly when his mother died

Gee, then I think I should be thankful that people actually stated this before I replied ¬_¬

Besides there is absolutely no point in discussing a theory if a fact exists, if you still wish to discuss this "theory" which you at the time believed was true then do so with some tags stating up to where you have viewed the series

I have been on OB for a very long time, I know how things work, it is you guys who are in the wrong

And while I'm at it K.K.C, your signature is far too long and I recommend that you shorten it

Thank You

Yeah, I don't think most of these mysteries will be solved in .hack//SIGN alone.. The video games, the manga, UEDEN and LIMINALITY.. They all have a partial role. Of course, Bandai needs to make a more serious series now.. UEDEN's too kiddy for me.. I WANT SOME OTHER DARK STORY!

I'm sorry Seph, but the other member is correct. You should have used a spoiler tag, as you revealed a major plot element in the series.

People should be using spoiler tags in ALL anime forums on OtakuBoards, whenever they're revealing something significant (especially if it's known that the thread is being written by people who haven't seen the entire series, which is obvious based on the discussion here).

So, that's just something that everyone should be cautious about, basically.

And I would really appreciate no "playing mod" on the part of members. I respectfully remind you, as a friend, of the policies that OB has indeed had for a long time. ^_^

Anyway, regarding the thread...
There was some suggestion that Subaru and Tsukasa are "lovers" in real life, or something of the sort. At least, in the Japanese series. I have no way to substantiate this, because I've not seen the entire series...but there are a few scenes that point to this possibility, in my opinion. Weird, eh?

Well, we have to bear in mind that not everyone has seen the series. The fact that this thread tries to explain a theory about what has already happened suggests that the member who created it hasn't seen the event unfold.

So, all I'm asking for is common sense. Of course, if you're in a thread where you're discussing a particular spoiler...that's fine. But as you know, we are always encouraging liberal use of spoiler tags when discussing any series. Even in anime lounge, when discussing older series, most people use spoiler tags as is appropriate.

Anyway, the question is answered now (by virtue of both spoiler free posts and the fact that the episode in question has now aired).
