Ren was finally glad to be out of that pit. That kid Kyle was something else! And his good buddy John was quite the innovator! Seth, somewhat impressed by their skills, allowed them to leave early to get to their next class on time. Whereas everyone else had to stay behind for wasting their time in the pit. A good half hour after the next class started, Ren made a mad dash for the airstrip, since his next class was paratrooper training with none other than the Lord of Hell.
"You're late, Stimpy." Ren wondered why he pointed that out, since he clearly wasn't the only one.
"Yes, sir."
"Tactics with Lt. Commander Akashi?"
"Yes, sir."
"Heh, he always does that." The Col. walked off, Ren was stunned that he recieved no punishment.
"Today's class is paratrooper training, you will not be using the plane anytime soon, since this will take days of practice! However..."
The Col. looked at Ren.
"Stimpy here has quite a reputation of suicide attempts, think you'll survive a second try?"
"I'm a Hikigane, sir, of course I'll survive."
"Hikigane, what the hell is that anyway?"
"Japanese, sir, it means 'trigger'." The Col. walked off, muttering something about why he was stuck with all the Japanese freaks. He wheeled and began to adress the class on how they would be exercising inside a wind tunnel. He took the boys inside and showed them how to do it, but Ren wasn't paying any attention.
"You got a problem, Stimpy?"
"I already know how to parachute, sir."
"Okay then, hotshot, show us your moves." The Col. said cockily. Ren stepped into the wind tunnel and began to float, he then began doing tricks like falling faster or slower, spinning around and doing barrel rolls. The class was impressed, but then the Col. got tired and cut the power, sending Ren crashing back to earth.
"Not bad, but now you'll give me 50 for not paying attention." Ren grinned, he was getting used to this by now.
"Heh, keep this up and you might just get your name back." Fat chance, Ren thought, he'd rather have his hair.

"By the way Stimpy, well all of you, I'm pleased to announce that you will be seeing more of me the next few days." He heard an issue of groans. He would let it slide... this time..
"Sgt. Howards is away on personal leave, I'm not obliged to tell you, if she wants you to know she'll tell you herself when she gets back. But anyways I have agreed to take responsibility for her classes." Another groan issued from all the students. "100 push ups now!!" Clark yelled loudly, and was pleased to see the look on Stimpy's face, whom had just finished his last fifty.
"Stimpy, I'm sure you will also be pleased to know that I have taken the liberty to have sent 'Glory' and 'Angel' back to your father. This is a military school, not a personal gun show. DON'T GIVE ME THAT G**DA** LOOK! I cleared it with the General! He agreed with my decision." He walked up to Stimpy as he did his push-ups, and bent down and shouted in his face. "We don't care what your f*cking *** name is! You are sh*t! You are the scum of the f*cking earth maggot! If you ever try to do something to me again like you did in the mess today, I will do to you like I saw what those Rag Heads in Iraq do to people! I will string you up by your balls, and invite Mexicans to come up and play with you like a Pinate! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!?!"
Clark had lost it. He knew deep inside of him that he truthfully meant every word he had said. As he stood up and walked away he kicked Stimpy's arms, causing him to fall to the ground, busting his chin.

While Reg was walking looking for Charli she saw Col.Clark,

"Well I know I shouldn't ask him but I will anyways."SHe said to herself as she ran to Col.Clark and salutaed him,"Permission to speak sir?"

Ren got up long after everyone else had left. He was lying on the ground, deep in thought. What was Col. Clark's problem? For some reason, Ren wasn't angry or spiteful, he was puzzled. The Col. seemed to be experiencing some drastic mood swings lately, maybe he was having some kind of problem. Ren thought back to what Seth had said earlier.
"Miss Howards has left on a personal assignment..." Ren then thought that he had seen the two together in the mess hall... then from the Col.'s last words before he had left, he figured that the Col. had seen some pretty awful things in his army days... but then that never accounted for Charli's advice in the mess hall, and then... Suddenly the answer hit Ren like a ton of bricks in the face.
Col. Clark and Charli are...in love?!
Ren had to shake his head to clear the barrage of thoughts that followed. The Col. and Charli... They didn't seem to get along but, maybe they are just hiding it? Maybe the Col. was angry because Charli had left? That paired with what the Col. had said earlier... that would definetely put any normal guy in the nut house. However, there were too many pieces of the puzzle missing, but he figured out the one thing that would lead to all the answers...
He had to find out what happened to Charli... he had heard some news in the school, but he had to know the real reason, so he looked around for his friend Dai.
"Dai! Dai!" Ren called out, he had rushed to the sick ward as fast as he could.
"What happened to Charli?!" Ren asked hastily, seeming very agitated.
"You didn't he..."
"OF COURSE I DIDN'T HEAR!!! No one ever tells me anything!!!" Dai was scared by Ren's haste.
"She... her boyfriend died in a war... she wanted to go clear her head..." Ren stopped dead, the answers had all come together, just as he had predicted. Charli's boyfriend had died in a war... Clark liked Charli... Clark was in a war where terrible things had happened... Clark is like this because...he hates himself??? Ren felt stranger than he ever did in his life... the answers had come together, the mystery was solved... almost solved... Ren began racing in the other direction, leaving behind a very confused Dai.
There was one more thing that he had to know, to make sure he was right... and he knew who to ask...

OOC: You think you have learned well Grasshoper,(Wondershot). Well, I'll tell you, that you have come upon nothing! Muahahaha. Or have you? Anyways the best person to ask would be Major General Hathoway. He's known Clark for several years, of course, because I am him.

IC: Clark looked at Reg carefully. He was figuring he could push her, to become a good killer.
"You do know it's against protocal?" he said to her.
She didn't say anything, but gave him a pitiful look instead. He looked at her and studied her. For some reason she reminded him of one of his daughters.
"Did Sgt. Howards approve of this?" he asked.
"Yes sir," Reggie answered.
"Well I agreed to take on all her classes. Very well, meet me after dinner, outside of the mess hall, twenty hundred hours. You do know when that is don't you?"
Reggie didn't have a positive look on her face.
"That's eight o'clock. That's your first lesson. Noon is twelve hundred, after that it continues on with thirteen hundred, fourteen, and so on. Midnight is zero hour. I'll see you then."
***
General Hathoway was doing mandatory paperwork. He knew Sgt. Howards had already left, and he was finalizing her leave papers. He understood this all, it happened to his friend Clark back in '91. Luckily for her though, she wasn't on assignment, or in the middle of enemy territory.

Guest dayday
Day left the mess hall and started to wander around outside looking at the ground. When she looked up she saw Lt. Akashi walking toward her. She quickly turned around and started to walk the other way. Akashi kept following her. Finally she was kept up with and stopped.

Lt. Akashi: Why aren't you in class?

Day: I was looking for it. But I couldn't find it.

Lt Akashi: You won't find much looking at the ground. Now keep your head up and get going. I'll be watching you.

Day: Okay I'm going.

Lt. Akashi: One more thing. Learn how to have more respect for your superiors. From now on call me sir. Understood?

Day: Yes sir. *turns around and rolls eyes.*

DaiShamar walks off trying to find the Music class. Wherever that was.

Dai watched, very confused as Ren sped off. A few minutes later, Richie came out, looking very shaken and angry. His leg seemed better, but he was limping. Dai figured the Millitary school was to cheap for crotches and casts.

"You alright, Richie?" He asked, standing up and strecthing.

"Yeah. My weg is kinda swoe, though."

He smiled and led Richie outside. The sun was starting to set as they walked slowly towards the bunker. Dai was starting to get a liking towards Richie.

An hour or so later, they reached their bunker. Richard ran over to Richie as soon as the door closed and starting looking him over. Dai has always thought of Richard as the tough boy, but when it came to his brother, he could be very caring and gentle. He turned around, only to face Colonel Clark. He had his stern face, as usual, but it seemed softer.

"Sorry."

He said, handing Dai a letter. He then walked out of the bunker.

"Who's it from?"

Richard asked.

"...Home."

He slowly lifted out the letter, which had already been read, obviously.

"It says," Dai said, reading out loud.

"Dear, Son."

Dai snorted and said, "They probably are so ashamed of me they wont even call me by my name."

"Dear Son," He started again, "We have mailed this letter to tell you... Riku has passed away this morning. She passed out into a comma a few days ago, and wouldn't wake up."

As though getting over shock, Dai stayed very still. Then, he fell into blackness and fainted.

OOC: Well, Dmitri, wether I have really learned anything or not, it still makes an interesting plot twist, no? Besides, that's not even what I think, I put that in because i figured it would be more interesting if Ren had been wrong. The "best person" I was thinking of was Lt. Seth Akashi, since he is pro at knowing everything about everyone, but I'll play it your way.

IC: Ren dashed at top speed for the principal, or General's office. These thoughts whirling around in his head made him dizzy, he even got so distracted that he ran into a wall. No matter what he decided to with the answers he got, his top priority now was getting them first. He slowed down as he approached the General's office, and, trying his best to calm his nerves, knocked on the door.
"Come in." Ren thought he was about to be put in the electric chair, but then he opened the door and saluted the General.
"At ease, soldier." However, Ren held his stance for a moment before snapping out of it.
"What do you want?" The General asked, apparantly a bit busy.
"General Hathoway! Sir! I...I..."
"Speak up boy, I can barely understand you."
"I..I..I would like to ask about...Col. Clark..." the General looked puzzled.
"What's your name, boy?"
"Ren...Rijin Hikigane, sir!"
"So you're that boy, I had your guns sent out, Col. Clark said you were somewhat of a haphazard." Ren frowned, Haphazard? Me? He snapped out of it so that he could continue.
"I..wish to know about Col. Clark's... personal... info..."
"Why?"
"I...I don't know, sir."
"You don't know?"
"No, sir, I have no clue, sir!" Ren began to feel more confident, even though he looked like an idiot.
"I want to know, sir, for the sake of... the Col.'s well being!"
"Son, I am afraid that whatever Clark is, or was, is of no business to you." Ren, however, wasn't going down without a fight.
"Sir, I only ask out of... pity..."
"Pity?"
"Pity for the Col."
"Son, I have no idea what you have planned, but I am not about to turn this school into a bleeding hearts soap opera..."
"Sir! I promise that no one will hear of this...sir!" Ren knew what he was saying was true. If he did finally learn the awful truth, he was certain that he would regret it later...

Hathoway looked at the boy. "Very well, you cannot tell this to anybody, if you do you will be expelled." He started.
"Clark was in the first Gulf War, and the second one. As well as the liberation of Afganistan. In the First Gulf War he was with me on a special forces mission. I was his commanding officer. We were deep in Iraq, deeper than CNN let on. He recieved a message that his wife and two daughters were killed in a car crash. He broke our cover with his anger. Luckily we all escaped unscathed except him. He recieved six bullets to the chest. Nearly died. But we got him patched up and home in no time. He buried his family and came back to the Army. The Army was now his only salvation, he was going to spend the rest of his life here, that's why he hasn't retired yet, he's trying to die. Anyways upon his returned he was welcomed with a Court Marshal. I got him off the hook barely and landed him a job here. He recieved his rank of Colonel and was in charge of this place for a little bit. By this time I had risen to the rank of Brigadier General. I heard from former students of his of his cruelty, and how he sent students to the sick bay for weeks at a time from his training. So if you think he's bad now, he was worse back a couple of years ago. I requested to come here for this position and was granted it, I allowed Clark to stay on as a teacher, and he was happy to do it. I got him calmed down some, and even brought in female influence to help, Sgt. Howards. But it didn't help much, but she was engaged. And as you probably know now her fiance was killed in Pakistan. That's why she's gone now, and there was someone else that just received news like this, you'll find out soon enough I'm sure. But those two I just mentioned are like Clark now, and with that, Clark is going to be more hateful I'm afraid."
Hathoway stood and looked out the window. "You kids play pranks on him to break him. I would suggest you stop. If he breaks, then people will suffer. In him is a pent up rage, and if that rage is released bad things will happen here. So I ask you to lay off on him."
Hathoway looked at Ren again. "I will have a talk with him about his behavior, I won't tell him you were here, and you hadn't tell anyone you were here either. It is time for dinner, now go get ready."
***

Colonel Clark went back to the gym. He had to vent some rage. He changed and went straight to the punching bag. He started pounding away at it, each punch he sent more and more anger into it.
He was thinking the whole time. Why in the hell is everybody dieing?! First Charli's fiance, now this boys sister. What is this hell hole of a world coming to? We kidnap these kids off the streets, as ordered by the government, and then loved ones start dying right and left. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Ren gets a letter next week saying his whole family died in a plane crash.
Clark was thinking as such for quite some time. He finally looked at the clock and saw that it was passed time for chow, which had started at eighteen hundred. It was only now thirty minutes pass, but he wouldn't let himself be late so he just wouldn't go at all. He continued to punch away, but he wouldn't forget about the lesson he had to go teach at twenty hundred.

Seth was all alone, he had no more classes for the rest of the day. and his encounter with Day seemed less than pleasant. He watched the sun begin to set, and wondered what was happening. He always seemed so closed off from the outside world, which was in direct contradiction with his policy as a Recon tracher. However, he could see that everyone seemed distraught as of late. First Charli, then the Col. Now he noticed that Ren had seemed fairly distraught, Day was in a bad mood as well, since she didn't seem to fit in. In addition, he had just seen the Col. deliver a letter to that boy Dai, with a very disoriented appearance. What was happening? Seth jogged to the boys bunker, only to see the boy Dai asleep on the bunk, his friends next to him.
"Hello Mr. Akashi." the boy Bradley said.
"Is he sleeping?"
"He fainted."
"Oh dear, what happened?" He noticed a letter lying next to the bed, and he opted to read it and learn the awful news... He looked solemnly at the poor boy, and placed a hand over his chest out of sadness.
"Please don't tell him you read it." Bradley asked.
"I...promise."

OOC: Sorry Daisuke! (all those who had not read the original disregard this)

OOC: I started to post that before I realized there was a second page.

IC: Swift looks out the window. He walks outside and towards the flagpole. Swift plants his two swords and then a wooden plank with a cross on it. He pulls of a necklace and kisses it, blessing it. He places it on the cross and kneels.

"This is for all who have died and all that will die at this place."

Swift gets up and climbs the pole. He balances himself on the top before he lets himself fall to the ground. He hits his side on the ground and feels somethink crack.

"Yeah. That was-OW!"

Swift manages to the sick bay where he gets examined and is put in a bned for some sleep. Swift smirks.

"Hey, It gets me out of the classes which I don't ned and away from Colonel Clark." Swift mutters as he closes his eyes.

Reg started for the Mess Hall because it was time for dinner. As she was walking she wondered about her family.

"Da*n you Dad!Why the heck did you have to run away?!Why?!It was your fault Dad,that I'm here! You made my life miserible! How?You might say if you were here.Well You left us,we were a happy family! Now you've turned Mom into a alcholic! You have no idea what it's like to live under the roof of an drunk Mother!Dad!You have no idea what it's like!Getting those screams and hits!"Reg said to herself.

She then arrived at the Mess Hall. She then grabbed her tray and took not alot of food then sat down at a table by Day.

"So did you get to do some trainning?"Day asked.

"Nope."Reg said as she took a bite out of her food.

Just then 2 officers came throught the doors of the mess hall and headed to Reg.

"Are you Reggie Genki?"One of them asked.

"Yes,sir."Reg said.

"A letter from the revern at your church."The other said as he handed her and envolope.

"Father Goru..."Reg said to herself.

Then the two officers walked out of the door.Everbody in the Mess Hall looked at the table Day and Reg were sitting at.Reg opened the letter and read it,her face turned into shock then into a frown, her eyes were about to water but she held it in.Instead of watery eyes she made it look like rage. She then punched the table causing it to crack a bit.

"What is it Reg?"Day asked.

"I'm gonna go..."Reg said, she stood up leaving her tray behind and the letter and headed out the doors of the Mess Hall.Day picked up the letter and read it.
*****
Father Goru,
Dear Reggie Genki,I'm afraid to say that your mother has died. How?You might ask,a car accident after returning from a party with her friends. It seems that she drank to much, her friend offered her a ride home but she didn't accept it,we all know what happens when we drink and drive. You will be sent to an orphanage after you are out of Milatary School.
*****
Col.Clark grabbed the letter from Day.

"You shouldn't read other's mail."He said, but he was curious to see what made Reg so upset,he read it,"Da*n not her to.That was the only one she had left, now she has to go to an orphnage."

Reg kept on walking and forgot her trainning lessons.

"This is all your fault Dad.You made her an alcholic."Reg said to herself.

OOC: It's okay, Wondershot;):D

"Do you think he'll be all wight, Wichard?"

"Yeah. He just fainted, Richie. He's gonna be fine."

The voices whirled in Dai's head and he slowly regained consiousnous.

"What happened...What happened," He groaned, his red eyes very dull. Bradley looked at him in relif, and then in sadness.

"Uh... Your sister, Ruki. She died," He stuttered, not knowing how to brake it to his poor friend. Dai moaned and out his head between his legs. His friends could hear him start to sob.

"Hey, Dai. Its time for dinner. It'll help you feel better."

Richard said soothingly, patting him on the back.

"Yeah. I am soooo hungry, howabout you, Dai?"

Bradley asked hopefully, trying to get Dai's mind off of his sister. Dai didn't reply. He just looked up, his face as red as his hair and eyes. He slid off the bed and walked outside, the boys following carefully, incase Dai fainted again. Along the way to the mess hall, people stopped and taunted Dai,

"Oh, what's the matter baby?"

Of course, whoever did that to Dai recieved a punch in the nose by Richard and a slight punch in the shin by Richie.

Just as Dai opened the door, he was knocked down by a girl leaving in quite a rush. He got up and watched her walk off, then headed inside. He quickly walked over to the boys table and sat down, laying his head on the table.

"Unbelievable, why is this all happening now?" Seth was very confused, even for a man of his profession. He had just heard the young lady Reggie cursing something about her father, as well as Swift falling off the top of a flagpole. The youth Ren seemed somewhat distraught as well, but now Seth had no idea what was going on. Investigation is key, he thought. He had left the bunker just before Dai's awakening, and he now had to find out what had happened to to Miss Genki. He walked towards the mess to get something to eat, but bumped into Col. Clark.
"My apologies," He said hastily and kept walking, but noticed that he dropped a letter. As he left, he picked up the letter, wondering if he should read it. His natural knack for finding out things about people was more of a curse, it was the sole reason no one liked him. He read the letter and dropped it when he had seen the news.
"My God...." Seth was now more infuriated than he ever was in his life. He rushed outside to the parking lot and got inside his car.
"No more...not again..." He hastily started up the car and drove off, he needed some time to clear his head...

Clark was becoming infuriated. Everybody was dying. First Charli's fiance, then Dai's sister, now Reg's mother. He didn't know what to do. Everything was happening so fast.
He was walking by himself when it finally happened. He broke, but it wasn't from anger, it was from grief. He hadn't cried at his family's funeral, but now, it just happened.
He crouched down and put his face on his knees and just cried.
After a minute or so he recomposed himself and went to go find Reggie.
He found her, and walked up behind her, and put his hand on her shoulder. "Do you want to talk about anything?" He asked softly, and unlike his usual self, kindly.

Ren left the office in disgust, he had gotten the answers he was looking for, but he was right, they weren't what he wanted to hear. He went to the mess hall to eat dinner, even though he wasn't hungry. He preferred to have a little something so he didn't grow too weak. On the way, however, he bumped into Dai, who seemed mad or upset about something.
"Hey man, what's happening?" He tried to be kind, but Dai just left. Ren thought to himself why nobody ever told him anything anymore. He had a little food, just enough to restore some strength, and left for his bunk, he wanted to get a little sleep and think over what had happened that day. He fell asleep, but woke up after 20 minutes, realizing who he could ask for help. Ren rushed into the mess hall, looking for Lt. Akashi, but when he asked the teachers told him that he had disappeared earlier. However, Ren gave up and returned to get some sleep, he didn't care what time it was, he had to get these ideas out of his head.

Swift gets up and throws his clothes on. He grabs his bag and pulls out a package. It's a small leather pouch. Swift takes it to the memorial he set up and takes out 5 little wooden crosses and plants them. He writes the three names of the people who've had someone die and leaves it.

"Too much death."

Swift walks in the cafeteria and gets his food as he sits in the corner alone, staring at the crosses. He starts thinking about his family.

"Lucky for me that my parents are dead already, and that I never knew my sister or brother."

Just then, a kid younger than him sits across from him and starts talking to him.

OOC: My char doesn't know if anyone else has died.

Reg just stopped and thought, then started walking again.

"No.."Reg said.

"Are you sure,it'll help."Clark said kindly.

"When I say no Col.Clark I mean no..."Reg said as she walked off faster but Col.Clark would just follow her.

"You have to talk about this,or you'll never forget it."Clark said.

Reg's eyes were about to water, but then she wiped them away.

"Are you gonna cry?"Clark asked.

"No sir,*sniff*,this soilder doesn't cry,she nevered cry from the moment she was born!"Reg said with a sniff.

Clark didn't know what to say. "If you cry I won't tell anyone or see you any differently. I admit I just broke down and started crying just a few minutes ago." Clark took a breath before saying anything more.
"My wife and children died in a car accident twelve years ago, while I was away on a mission in Iraq, so if you decide you want to talk just say so, and I'll listen." Clark said, he didn't leave her side but just offered silent support.

Ren rolled around in bed. He was asleep, but having the weirdest dreams. He dreamt that he was Col. Clark, running from a bunch of zombies as well as Charli and her fiancee. He kept on running, but then banged into a glass tower, looked up and saw his family. Suddenly the tower tipped over and fell on him, and he saw for an instant that it was a giant jar of the Hikigane's hot hauce. Ren awoke with a start, and looked outside, It was dark out, but there still seemed to be some activity going on outside. He got up to see what everybody was doing, and he saw that it was still only 8 PM, but a lot of people were crowding around the flagpole. Ren got up and looked at the activity, and noticed that someone had set up a shrine of some sort. Ren wasn't sure why, but then it hit him that this was a memorial! Ren thought for a moment, then prayed a bit for all of the recently deceased, which was as close to religion as Ren had ever gotten in his life. He then returned to his bunk to catch a bit more sleep, since he was extremely tired. He then had another dream where he jumped out of the plane again, and landed in a lake full of tomato soup, when his uncle Teo showed up on a paper boat and threw him a giant macaroni noodle to use as a life raft. Ren thought that he wouldn't tell anyone about this, but he was beginning to get a little hungry...

OOC: what drama! Anyway, I won't be here very much as of this Thursday, just so you know.

Hathoway looked out his window, he saw several things going on, he had already learned of the memorial thing at the flag pole, and had ordered it to be taken down in the morning before ceremonies. It was put up without permission and he didn't want this school to look like a push over.

OOC: You have some weird dreams Wondershot... very weird indeed.

OOC: I'll say. But I'm sure mine are much odder.

Col. Clark,
How are things? I've just gotten here and fortunately there isn't much for me to do. I should be back in a few more days, a week at the most. Thanks for everything!
~Charli

Reggie,
I hope you're getting the training you wanted! If not, I should be back in a few more days. Be sure to keep the other girls in check.
~Charli

Ren, Dai, and Everyone Else who hates Clark,
If you really wanted to get back at Clark, go to the firing range. There's a few things you might want to use. Get rid of this as soon as you read it. I suggest burning.
~Charli

OOC: I didn't feel like writing long letters, so it's just notes.

Ren awoke with a shock. He was extremely tired, but he had to get up and move around. He had another dream, and it ended with him being buried alive in sugar, but that was of no importance. It was the middle of the night, and his watch said 2 AM. Ren groaned, but unfortunately he woke up Dai's friend Ritchie.
"...Wen?" He asked innocently.
"Oh, sorry."
"Where are you gowing?"
"I need to walk around a bit, I'm too restless."
"Oh, kay."
"Go back to sleep."
"Goodnight, Wen." The boy began to doze off.
"Goodnight." Ren got up, careful not to wake anyone, and stepped outside. He had no shirt on, and it was extremely cold, but he was too restless to do anything else. He raced as fast as he could to the front gate to look at the road. He checked his watch and realized that he had set a new record, nice. Suddenly a mail truck came by and stopped in front of the school, the driver got out and looked at Ren.
"This the Academy?"
"Yeah."
"Got a package here for...Rijin Hikigane."
"Ok, I'll give it to him."
"See ya." The man left as abruptly as he had come, Ren looked at the package wrapped in newspaper, but then he noticed that the package was the newspaper, and on it there was a note.
"I'm sorry." It read, Ren, ever curious, read the article on the front page, and his eyes widened at the headline...
