It would be the best game ever. The amazing graphics it would have...the amazing storyline...Of course, it wouldn't be complete without music composed by Nobuo Umetsu. And it would have to be on GameCube because I'm too cheap to buy a Playstation 2. It would be cool to publish it on both though. *shrugs* Sadly I doubt Sephiroth would make a reappearance seeing as he has been defeated...
...but we can dream can't we?

I heard that Square or now Square-Enix was planning on putting FF7-FF9 on DVD-ROM's for the PS2 but I didn't hear if they are going to make the graphics better or anything like that. If they did make a FF7-2 I would be in my glory because FF7 was one of my favorite FF's.

I must say, I still havent passed the first one. The storyline is so histerical, though. When Aeris died, I was like, "Oh, My, Goddess, Im gonna cry now" and then my buddy Cloud went all insane and I must say, If they make a second one I hope it is for ps1. if it isnt, then Ill go and buy what it is for!

Square had plans to basically remake FF8 on PS2. Around the time of the PS2 still mostly being tech demos, along with a few others like GT2000 that never saw the light of day. That's all over with. In fact, I don't even think they really got anywhere with it... other than showing the dance scene with Rinoa and Squall and saying it could be done real time on PS2.

The latest rumors say something something about FFXII being related to FFVII in some way. Who knows if that's true or what will come of it. I've not read into it much.

I read in Electronic Gaming Monthly about the time that FFX came out and it said that Square would be interested in making a gaiden (side-story) game with maybe Cloud and Tifa or Aeris, but that's all I've heard on the subject. I think that they were just throwing around the idea, but I don't know if they were totally serious on the subject.

You're talking about FFX-2. FFXI is a completely online MMORPG.

I've also heard that Square Enix was interested in maybe doing an FFVII sequal, but nothing else. I kind of doubt it's ever going to happen, though.

I've read about a FF7-2 quite a while ago, then I read about a statement that Square made to a popular japanese magazine some months back saying that they want to work on an FF7-2 because of the huge popularity of the game, but at the moment they wish to concentrate on other games they are working on, also they are discussing whether FF7-2 should be made for the PS2 or the PS3

Pretty interesting thoughts. IGN Covered the rumor too. In case you didnt see it, here's the link:

It would be pretty cool to see a sequel but I'm not sure how it would work out. Maybe they'll say Sephiroth was reborn or something and CLoud has to beat him again. They can probably still come up with a good story and it would be awesome to really see it for whatever console it goes to.

I just got the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, and there is a little part in the rumor section of the magazine that mentions a possible FF7 sequel. Allow me to quote it if you will:

"Ever since Final Fantasy VII first appeared on PlayStation, gamers have wondered if there'd ever be a direct sequel...well, prepare to flip, Cloud mavens: Current gossip indicates that FFVII-2 is in the works for...PSP (Sony's handheld system)! Talk about your killer apps..."

And there you have it. I don't know if it's true, but EGM is usually accurate with their rumors. But you can take it however you want to.

Just to meddle in, I read an interview of some Squarenix-fellow from some site (there're so many I can't remember which :bluesweat ), and the interviewer asked him about the sequels to Kingdom Hearts and FF7 (which both are under huge rumors). He said that KH 2 is pretty likely to come out some day, but about FF7-2 he said that it would take too much time to make it, so it would be very unlikely that it will happen.

What bothers me in his words was that he said "we would have to start from the scratch because the old gamemotor is too old, and then it would take as much time as it would in a completely new game". I mean, who says a sequel must be some sort of "quick remake" game? Why can't they put their heart on a sequel, even if it would mean they would have to spent all that time with it? I'm sure ff7-2 would sell like heck, so money can't really be the issue... *is confused*

After looking up a bunch of stuff, most rumors point to the 'Coming out on the PSP' thing. If it actually happens, we'll hopefully hear more soon. (I'd even go for a remake, now.)

Um.. I haven't heard anything about the PSP. Can anyone tell me what the hell is so gooood about it?
Well it's pretty much said that it is going to be given better sound, considering all the sound was pretty much put on MIDI files in Final Fantasy VII. However, all these rumors come to the conclusion that graphics may be revamped and there will be more FMV's.

As it's a remake, perhaps they could place more minigames or hours in the game. However, the game was long enough for me. ~_~

I read in one EGM mag. that one of the creators of FF would like to make another game based on the adventers between Cloud and Aeris.

Maybe thats what they're gonna do with the FFVII remake: futher the story line between Cloud and Aeris.
But I'm not too sure.

I believe that was the issue of EGM with the FFX cover story. Personally, I would like to see a FFVII remake, but only if it can further the story without complicating things. Square could also smooth out the difficulty because there were a few bosses in FFVII that needed a couple hours of serious leveling up to beat.

Any PSP rumors at the current time are just being pulled out of someone's *** as wishful thinking. I wouldn't even get excited over it at this point. Hell, the only things said about it so far was basically that a bunch of places had plans to port PSX games to it. Exciting.

I don't think Square would be that stupid and put a sequel to probably their biggest RPG in god knows how long on a portable system that has yet to prove itself. Who knows though.

Sorry to be the only dissenter, and throw out a few game spoilers, but a FFVII-2 would be a most horrible occurrence(a really bad thing).

First, they finished the storyline in FF7, there was no where to go.
Sephiroth was killed, Aeris was killed, meteor was stopped, and the evil guys were defeated(this is all to my recollection).
This leaves no room for a sequel, and since the whole thing was one complete story, there could be no room for a side story, featuring the relationship between Aeris and Cloud, being that they met for the first time DURING THE GAME. The only thing that they could make would be a prequel to the game, but since we all already know Cloud's past along with Tifa and Barrett, there would be no point. I would personally hate to see a second final fantasy 7 because the only reason it could possibly be made is to coerce those that don't understand the first story to drop $50 on something that could only be a money-making venture. Thereby, the whole story would lose it's appeal and become a horrible joke just used to make money, AND THAT WOULD BE A SACRELIG.

I think that they should leave the game alone and let it go through the ages as the one of the greatest games ever created.

What about Zack? They never went too indepth on him, it could be made into a game. There's always possibilities ;)
