Pierced -- Ouch!

I just got my ears pierced the other day (and ow they still hurt). I'm thinking of getting my lip pierced on the right side, but I don't want people to think that I'm a Benji and Joel wannabe (especially since I hate Good Charlotte). Plus, I'm a big wuss when it comes to needles.

Soo, does anyone have any piercings(appropriate ones, that is) or ones that they'd like to have? Tell me about it.

I have contemplated this before, and I at least want to get pierced at least once in my life. Just so I can say I have done it and was not too conservative to stay away from such things. It is just part of who I am. It is all about the experience.

I would say right now I am saying I would probably do my lip in the center. I am not sure why...

From what I know, a lip on the top sides is called a madonna, and on the bottom sides it's a medusa. Centre lip is just a lip piercing, and centre lower (more like chin) is called a labret. That's only my district terminology though.

I've got my nose done, navel done, and earlobes once (but they closed over a while ago because I didn't like the look of it on me). My next piercing will probably be tragus, or something, and the long term one I'm planning for is six spine barbells.

And for those who want to know if it hurts - of course it hurts. they shove needles into your body and then hold the wounds open with bits of metal. But considering this, it doesn't hurt nearly as much as you think it would. For me, that is.

When I went in to get my nose done, I was pretty scared. It was my fourth piercing, and the one closest to my face. One I could see. I saw the needle come out of my nose infront of my eye, and watched the whole thing. it only hurt for a second, though, and I bled a bit, but then it was a dull ache for the next hour or so and the next day it only hurt when you touched it. Pretty good.

Navel is a different story - there's a fat ratio requirement (you get turned away if you're too skinny), and they use a metal spike instead of a syringe. At least, they did for mine.

Basically, the pain is something you can definately endure. It's worth it. So as long as you research your piercing well before you get it, and the place you're getting it done at is safe, and I mean really safe, then go for it. I love piercings.

I've had my ears pierced since I was two months old. My mom sure seemed in a hurry to do that. But I love them. ^_^

I used to have my navel done. I got it done for my 15th birthday. One of my very closest friends, her parents do piercing and tattoos and they are very awesome. SO, they agreed to do it if my mom said it was okay. I loved my navel piercing and I had it for a year, but it never healed. I cleaned it every single day for over a year and it never would heal. So I took it out. I wont get it done again, but I really do miss it because it looked really good. I still have a little scar right there and everyone always points it out. It's one of my special marks, I guess.

My SISTER, when she was 15, came home with one of those fake nose rings, and my mom started freaking out, until my sister took it out with no problem, and explained that it was fake. It was really funny.

She has had two additional piercings on both sides of her earlobes, plus the oens she got when she was a baby. Three complete sets, with 6 holes in all, and she wanted to get a fouth set, but stopped after the first hole on one side, because it hurt too much.

In a recap, my sister has three holes in one ear, and four in the other.

The 2nd hole of the 4th pair was going to be at the top of her ear, where it's less fatty, more cardilage, I THINK, and, agian the first hole hurt too much for her. She sterylizes safety pins and puts them in her ears like earrings, which is pretty cool. An idiot from a car shop once asked her if it hurt. Of course it doesn't hurt! It's just like an earring, and they don't hurt! Sheesh.

I, like her, got my earlobes done (with only 1 hole in each) when I was a baby. I haven't got any other piercings since then. I don't exactly plan to, either. Heh. I'm boring.

I had the top of my left ear done september of last year... Someone ripped it out, though, and i had to let it grow over. I'll be getting it done in another week or so, again.

Piercing is fun, except where i got mine done, that actually stuck the stud through your ear, no needles involved. Kind of like how they clip animals, they put each piece of the stud on either side, and stuck it through. I liked it loads, too bad it was ripped out...

I love Good Charlotte!! Anywho..I'm such a wuss when it comes to needles,blood and pain. >_<;; But I only have my ears pierced, no more piercings. I want my "upper ear", you know the cartilage part. And I think my belly button would look cute. ^^ But..I'm too scared of the pain. >_>;;

My cousin wants me to get a piercing, but other than that I've never, ever had one.

If I was ever to get one done.. it would be my eyebrow. That's because I have an annoying scar that digs right into it and I'd love to cover it up.

I was going to do my tongue, but I keep putting it off. I'm not afraid to do it, but I just don't have the cash.

I have friends in smaller towns that are paying only like $30 to $50 to get that pierced. It's something like $70 in Chicago. It's just too much. I have a whole bunch of different barbells, but they are just sitting in a box (go on eBay and buy in sets, you'll get them for like $1 a piece sometimes... compared to the $10 to $20 at stores).

Who knows if or when I'll go through with it. At this point, a tattoo is more likely.

Well i've never been pierced. I wanted to get my ear pierced in like 3rd grade heh...but I never did. When I think of getting something like my tongue pierced I can't help but think of the drawbacks. I've heard that when you have a tounge ring it can rip your tounge pretty easily. When I think of people with nose rings I wonder what they do when they have a cold and/or they sneeze.

Well... I've just got my second set done in my ears, and I like them... it was something I've been meaning to do for a while.

Sometimes they hurt a bit, or ache, (like now ~_~) but I figure once they heal properly and I can change the earrings when I like, it'll be worth it.

But for some reason, any other kind of piercing freaks me out O_o, like a friend of mine has her belly pierced, and everytime I see it, I'm like ~_~;; *shudder* -- It looks lovely, it just looks really painful too O_o

I remember when I was a tender lad of 4, my mom took me to get my ear peirced. What's with the semi-shocked facial expression? You mean you don't know many moms who would take their pre-school children to get a piercing?
My older brother had just gotten an earring, and I wanted one too. I don't know why she went along with it.

Anyway, I only have one piercing on my left ear. To me, it didn't hurt. In fact, I barely felt it. I was too busy preparing for the pain, that I didn't feel it when it came.
That's probably about all of the piercing I'm getting. I heard everything else hurts 10x more when it's pierced.

I first had my ears pierced when I was around 2 years old. I don't remember it hurting much. Then in college I got my ears pierced a second time....and a third time, but now I only wear 2 in each ear. I've also got my navel pierced. I tried getting the top of my ear pierced but it kept getting caught on my hair and pretty soon my ear was twice its size and hurt like hell so I took it out. I won't get anymore.

i got my ears peirced when i was a tiny baby. I have real sensitive ears though, so i can only wear solid gold earrings. it is really annoying. i've been wanting to get my navel peirced for a long time, but then everyone started doing it, so i didnt. then i wanted my eyebrow peirced, until my stepsister did it, and it got ripped out during gym class. it was gross and bled all over the place...shudder

lol i'm not alowed any tattoos till i'm 18 so i guess i have to wait another 3 years i really want to get a small tattoo of woodstock from snoopy by my hip but my mom says i'm too young but oh well!
piercing is fun but i never used the needles i only use the guns thier quick clean and painless so i don't need to worry to much about anything.
yeah i got my first piercings on my ears when i was 7 and then i got my second set done last year and then the last 2 sets i got done about 3 months ago and i got a huge headache from all the metal in my ears and then i got my navel done about a year and a half ago. yeah its all fun and games so long as you keep your piercings clean and you make sure your ears arn't dirty or anything.
Anyway anyone who wants to get some thing pierced go for it is really an awsome thing!

I have my labret pierced. It didn't hurt much getting it done. As it healed it felt like nothing more than a mouth sore.

I have my eyebrow peirced. That one hurt a little more getting it done, but I hardly noticed it as it healed.

I had my nose peirced. It makes you sneeze a lot.

I had my tongue pierced, but the idiot who peirced me peirced straight through the blood vessel and I had to get stitches. That sucked like nothing else ever has. But my bad experience is like a one in a million chance.

I had the side of my lip peirced but it ripped upwards one night and I had to take it out and I now have a funky scar.

My ears are peirced and stretched. It doesn't hurt to stretch them as long as you don't do too much at one time.

I had multiple peircings in my ears, but they all got ripped out except for the main two(which are stretched now)

I had my um... well some other things peirced but had to take them out. They just weren't healing correct and it was more uncomfortable than anything else. Some places peirced effect people differently than others.

I know how to do a lot of peircings myself and I lived with a couple of profesional peircers a while back, so I might be able to answer questions if anyone has any.

Okay Mitsuko, question...

I am right in saying that you can't get a piercing through anything that has a scar or birthmark in the area, no? Because if this is true I can't get my lip pierced on the right side because of this scar (tooth went through it when I was little). Maybe I can go for the left side.

Well, I had my right ear pierced 7 times and my left 3. I did out of 10, 8 of them were done myself. I also used to have my belly button and right side of my nose pierced but I didn't take them as seriously as I should have about keeping it clean and it got really infected, but as of now, I have Double Zero gauge plugs 9check out my pix in the picture section to see what they look like) in the bottom hole in my ears but no others, my left nipple is done also, but I am going to take it out and get both of them done together. I don't mind piercing pain but when it comes to tattoos I am a BIG cry baby!!! I love piercings and tattoos, I love the art concept behind it all. I don't do it b/c of how it looks to other people, I do it b/c I am literally in love with that kind of expressionism in art! I am planning on gettin my labret pierced and my tongue. I will probably be getting several more tattoos. I only have one right now of a dolphin jumping out of water on my right shoulder-back.

Well, thats all!!!

You really don't want to peirce scar tissue or a birthmark, mainly for the reason that it will be extremely painful and healing may not go so smoothly. I think a minor surface scar isn't going to be a problem, but anything signifigant will cause some complications.

Yes you can do it, a needle will go through just about anything, but I really wouldn't recomend it.

Hmmmmm....I never knew that either Mitsuko. I would probably have a really hard time redoing my belly buttont hen b/c it just has a little bit of tough scar tissue where it was pierced before....of course I could move it up some tho!

I have my ears peirced, but sometimes when you get something peirced little pits of skin some times come off around the where it's peirced. Of course this has never happened to me but it could be a possiblity. It's happened to my friends before, from what they said you shouldn't use a normale needle. And it hurts awhile after no matter what for your ears, there for I'm gussing it'd hurt like 5-7 days at the least if you do it with some other body part.

Well, that's not necessarily true. I had a scar on my navel from the last time it was pierced, and I got it re-pierced. I actually had it pierced three different times before that, but always took it out because I'd done it myself. The last one was done professionally, and I've had that for about 8 years. I'm not wearing the ring right, now, though, because I don't want it to get stretched when I'm really pregnant. I'll put it back in afterwards, though.

Are you sure it stretches? I mean, a friend of mine just had her baby and she kept her navel ring in throughout the whole pregnancy. It went back to normal after she had the kid. I guess everyone's different though:)
