Vertigo
Okay, everyone's cried at some movie at some point(or at least gotten choked up), and everyone has their different reasons why. (Please use spoiler tags, because I'm sure a good amount of things here would be spoilers) As for me, the last movie I cried at was Donnie Darko(which, I think, is a movie everyone should see). The end was just so fitting, yet so depressing that I just started crying.
Dan Rugh
I remember crying during the Neverending Story (my favorite movie ever, by the way) when Atreyu's horse Artex was sinking into the Swamps of Sadness. Soooo sad. I also cried the first time I saw The Lion King in theatres when Mufasa died. I was embarassed. Heh. I've never heard of Donnie Darko until two days ago when my brother bought the DVD. Maybe I'll go watch it. He said it was really good.
XeEmO
Well I don't think i've ever cried at the end of a movie. But Donnie Darko had by far the most depressing ending to a movie I've ever seen. I get goosebumps whenever I see it, because not only is it a very good ending, but it's just so unexpected/sad. Actually I havn't seen that movie for at least a month i'm going to go watch it right now!
CalmLikeABomb
Grave of the Fire Flies. Jesus christ, I saw it when I was 13 and cried so hard it left makrs in my pillow. Not something to see if you're depressed.
Charles
The most emotional movies I can actually remember offhand are American History X, Field of Dreams, and Patch Adams.
American History X features, to this day, some of the most memorable scenes I've ever witnessed in a film--period. It's simply beautiful when the two brothers stare at their bedroom wall, covered in racial, Nazi rhetoric and begin taking the posters down together after the older brother explains the revelation he had while in prison. Following that scene, the older brother, played by Edward Norton, takes a shower. When he gets out, he stares in the mirror--and it's almost a reflection of what he used to be. His body is covered in horrible tattoos. And, as he stares into the mirror, he places one hand on his chest to cover up the Nazi Swastika. The cinematography is, in a word, incredible. It's almost indescribable--the slow motion, the way the water drips from his face. See it. Field of Dreams featured a few touching scenes. I can immediately recall Moonlight Graham exiting the field and transforming into Doc Graham. Also, I found the scene where the main character plays catch with his dead father to be generally emotional. Patch Adams contained a good mix of humor and emotion. Who could forget when Adams granted that woman her wish, and provided for her, a pool of noodles? lol And it was heartbreaking when his girlfriend was murdered.
Overall, I'd say those are most tear jerking films I remember. But, A.I., We Were Soldiers, and A Walk to Remember were heart wrenching in their own right.
Semjaza
I've never cried at a movie to my knowledge. The only one that makes my eyes water a bit is Edward Scissorhands. The ending scenes to that movie are incredible. Otherwise... Serendipity was so ridiculously stupid that it almost brought me to tears of disbelief. I was forced to watch it by a friend. My god, it was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen... Mostly because the girl he was after was so freaking nuts.
PiroMunkie
Heh, there has only been one movie that has ever made me all out cry. It is this movie my mom rented once called Fluke. It is about this guy who dies and comes back as a dog and finds the family he had before he died. Throughout the film, the 'dog' constantly shows hints to his family that he is the father and husband they lost.
There was this one part when he was in a closet or something and somehow got a hat on his head that he always used to wear when he was human. His wife came in and saw it and made that nostalgic, amused, teary-eyed face and for some reason I just started crying, lol.
Although, I was a bit younger then. Probably near the end of grade school. Much has changed. Many people have mentioned Donnie Darko thus far... I just recently saw this movie and there were a few parts that made me teary eyed... well, it made me feel as though I should be teary-eyed. They were not actual depressing parts in the movie, it was just the way I could relate the incidents to myself on either how it has happened to me or I want it to. It is truly a great movie, though, in my opinion. Not too mention Gretchen was a bit of a cutie, lol. I am sure there have been a few others that made me feel as though I should cry, but I do not remember them. I do not know... it is pretty much a "it is just a movie" attitude.
Brasil
The last movie that I fully cried at was The Deer Hunter. It's a heart-ripping chronicle of a group of Ukranian men living in a mining-type town in Western Pennsylvania. Some of them (Christopher Walken, Robert DeNiro, and John Savage) get drafted to go to Vietnam. They face unspeakable horrors, get captured and are forced to play Russian Roulette, a game involving a revolver, one bullet, and two participants. You load the bullet, spin the chamber, put the gun to your head, and fire. Hopefully you get an empty chamber.
In the end, John Savage is crippled, DeNiro psychologically scarred, and Walken dies in Saigon, after blowing his brains out in a final game of Russian Roulette.
All in all, it's a film that always makes me cry, no matter if I'm hyperly happy, or mildly sad. The end scene at the breakfast table is so amazing and yet so awful at the same time. amibasuki
I think the last movie I cried over was either Grave of the Fireflies or Pearl Harbor. I didn't even like Pearl Harbor that much for the most part,
but the part where that dude (forgot the name) died when he was about to become a father was really sad
. ironically, I think that was probably the best part in the entire movie. Semjaza
Grave of the Fireflies is probably my favorite animated flim ever. Anime or otherwise... But for some reason I didn't really get that depressed or sad over it. I don't know why. I keep hearing about all these people that are brought to tears by it. I don't know what my problem is heh. Jesus Chicken
Hmmm. The only movie I can remember crying, from being it being sad, was American Beauty. Just the ending part, when the guy dies. No, it isn't a spoiler, because right at the beginning of the movie, he tells you he is going to die. I dunno, but that movie just got to me. Muse
There have only been two movies that I have cried in: Simon Birch:
Simon Birch is about a little boy who wants to be a hero when he grows up. He is very small and can't do alot of things. Well, when he is on a field trip, his bus swerves off the road, avoiding a deer, and plunges into a river. Simon helps everyone escape from the bus, but is too late for himself. In the last scene, you see him in a hospital bed, his best friend sitting next to him. They talk about how he actually did become a hero. Then Simon dies.
It was a very sad movie, and I saw it in theaters. I was very embarassed, but then I noticed everyone else was crying, too. I Am Sam: Okay, if you haven't seen this movie, you are crazy. This is a film of unimaginable... amazingness.
It is about a mentally challenged man who's daughter is taken away from him because he has the intelluctual of a seven year old- his daughter is turning 8, I think. So basiclly, he is in a huge mess, because he loves his daughter, and she loves him.
This movie was so sad, and it also had plenty of Beatles Refrences:)
Sara
When I was little, The Neverending Story would make me cry. I loved Artax. I...can't....remember...that last time I cried watching a movie. There was one fairly recently, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Huh. (I guess it couldn't of been that traumatizing then, eh?)
Originally posted by Vertigo Donnie Darko...
Was I the only one who didn't find that movie depressing at all , (in fact I found it kind of uplifting). Juu
I almost cried in 'Finding Nemo'. :shifty:; The most recent movie that made me cry is probably 'Lilo & Stitch'. Everytime they mentioned 'ohana', because it was really sweet, but reminded me alot of my family. The most recent movie that made me cry hard would have to be 'I am Sam'. It's probably along one of my favorite movies.
It was especially sad when Lucy and Sam ran off together to the playground, and were taken away from each other the next morning.
DarK DeatH
The only movie that ever made me cry was Bruce Almighty oO I will tell you why... There was a part that I laughed so much, but SO much that I found out that tears were coming out from my eyes... But maybe that doesn't count as what you want to know... Oh well, besides that, no, no other movies...

The only one that makes my eyes water a bit is Edward Scissorhands. The ending scenes to that movie are incredible.
It's the only movie I've ever cried at, either. I think it's because it was the first movie of that nature that my parents allowed me to see (and the only reason they did was because they needed time alone on our vacation) and it shocked me. I was only 13 or so, and surrounded by kids I didn't know, so I had to choke it back. If I'd been at the theater, though, I would've bawled like a baby. I must also add that I've had a thing about Johnny Depp ever since but anyway... I'm more of the type that makes fun of the people that cry, lol. I should probably stop that, though, since people could make fun of me for how scared I can get during certain movies... I just remembered this. I did cry when Bambi's mother died. I was around 5, I guess. And y'all don't deny you did the same, because it was the saddest scene ever, and you know it.
KittyLynn
I got choked up in The Lion King. ^^;;
When Mufasa, Simba's dad, dies.
Why do I have to put spoilers for The Lion King. Hasn't everyone seen this Classic? Lol. Anywho. I also got choked up in The Fox In The Hound. amibasuki
now that I think of it, when I was about three or four years old, I remember seeing some movie about a kangaroo. the kangaroo was animated, I'm not sure if the actual movie was animated too though. at the end of the movie the kangaroo ended up leaving, and the little girl it was with cried, which got me and my sisters crying, too. I can't remember the name of the movie for the life of me. hm, well, nice little trip back in memory lane.
