You know, that movie with Fred Savage, about the video game competition. I couldn't find a thread about this movie so I decided to make one. I remember really liking this movie a lot. I was talking about how much of an add for Nintendo this movie is with a friend recently. What are your opinions on the movie? I've been trying to find a place to buy it just to bring back memories. See the truth of the matter is, I wasn't old enough to catch this movie in the theature, but I did catch it on video when my brother rented it (sometime in the early 90s).

Lucas Barton should be everyone's hero. We'd all be better off.

The movie was so stupid that I can't help but like most of it in some strange way. The funny thing was that none of the kids in the top 3 seemed to be all that good at the games.

I still have no idea how any of those kids knew anything about SMB3, especially considering that the movie makes it clear that no one else had played it before.

I never understood why the girl they're with is the one screaming at him to use the whistle to warp. How the hell would she know? From what I remember, she didn't even care about games.

Whatever though heh.

i haven't seen this movie in years. But I do remember watching it as a kid.

It was an odd movie, I'd probably understand it alot better if I watched it now.

I think the reason people like it, regardless of the stupidity, is...a nostalgia for those Golden Years of video games...the years that SMB3 was released and a verifiable video game renaissance was happening.

Another reason could be the "Evil Dead Syndrome," in that, the movie is so bad, it's great.

But I'm not entirely sure. I'd have to watch it again to remember why I enjoyed it.

Ah, man. I remember this movie. That was back when Fred Savage was still famous, wasn't it? It was an ad for Nintendo, wasn't it? Everytime I see the movie, it only makes me want to play my old NES (it still works) or download a rom. Just talking about the movie makes me feel like playing Ninja Gaiden.
