r-studios
something odd happened today my mom woke me up (i was sleeping on the couch)and she said, "theres a baby bird in the road". Being us vegeterians n all we wanted to save it from being hit by a car. Most likely it was trying to learn to fly. We wer stuck with a major delima the mother was trying to attack us while we looked at the bird. And if we touched it to move it off the road the Mother might abbandon it. I decided not to do anything for if it died it was meant to. And it did it was hit by a car (i did not witness this) but my mom told me. After that i felt weird was there anything i could have done. I wanna know yur opion what would u have done what could have been done (being otakus and respecting things like this and knowing that lose lose situations like this come up in Anime) I wanna know tell me what u feel.:whoops:

Well, you could've of done one of lots of things. You say that when you touch it, the mother might abandon it, well thats true, if you were ready, you could've picked up the bird and raised it yourself. My family and I were holidaying at Phillip Island one year (an island near Melbourne) and we came across a seagull on the beach...its wing was broken. And it was kind of being "harassed" by other birds and stuff. Clearly, if we'd left it, it would have died. At the very least, the tide would have come in and drowned it. So, I took a tea towel and carefully covered it...and put it in a cardboard box with a soft lining. We had actually planned to visit the Penguin Parade that night (which takes place on a beach with a wildlife center nearby). So, we took the box with the seagull in it...and when we bought tickets, we went to the wildlife hospital there and handed over the seagull to them. I'm guessing they probably put it down, because I doubt that they'd invest their time and money healing a seagull (considering that they're a dime a dozen at Phillip Island...as opposed to being endangered or something). But anyway, at the very least...we knew that they'd put it down peacefully. So I was comforted by the fact that, rather than being drowned...or eaten alive by something on the beach, the bird was at least in a quiet, warm place where it could die peacefully. Emme888
first of all you being a vegeterian is very cool..... second: I live on an acrage(<- spelling). And I've had cow, ponies, dogs, rabbits....and all have either died, been slaughtered, sold, or ran away. Death is a natural part of life. Accept your fate or anyone elses fate. Like I say->"Death comes only for the weak" no matter what you would have done. The bird's inner soul was to weak to survive...it had to be let go. Don't linger on it's death...it was the right choice. Good luck on finding peace in your own soul. Stay strong.....
Subversive
Originally posted by RPGchick i feel like it was my fault that that animal can no longer be with his family or in the wild.
If its going to live in the wild why should you help it. Wouldn't that make it kinda not wild. Besides while you typed that about 20 birds died, it just happens. I'm really not in a good mood right now, doesn't it show ^^
Orien_Xel
I don't want to sound callous or anything but..It's life. THings die. You can't stop it 100% of the tme. If it dies, it dies. It's sad, yes, bu there's really nothing you can do about it...
XeEmO
I saw this thread when it was posted and I didn't really know what to say. I still don't, but to be honest I probably wouldn't have done anything. I would have probably just ignored it and assumed that it would have gotten out of the road or someone would have gotten it out of the road eventually.
