Queen Asuka
Well, if you're a Harry Potter fan you know that you have your copy reserved and that tomorrow night at midnight it will be released. I am so excited. The Media Play where I reserved my copy is having a big party type thing and they are going to be giving away prizes and stuff. I can't wait to go! Does anyone else have plans for this celebration? Also, does any have an prospects on who the main character that is for a fact going to die?
Syk3
Yup, I reserved my copy months ago at Borders Books. It's been so long since the fourth one came out, and I miss picking the book up at midnight. The difference with this one is that I havn't seen as much hype with it as last time. With the fourth book, there was all this fuss over what was going to happen, things were in the paper how people got the book early, and I even knew what the cover was going to look like. So far, none of this has happened for the fifth book, and if so there was *very* little. In an case, I'm planning to pick the book up at midnight, but first go to the party that will be held around 10 pm or so. I'm hoping that there will be some good food. o_O I remember 3 years ago, we didn't go to a party if there was one, and when we got there 10 minutes after midnight, it was literally the longest line I had ever seen. Yet, ironically, it was also the fastest. Hopefully this year I will also have plenty of time to pick out my books for summer reading. actually, Harry Potter is on this years reading, but I'm still unsure of where or not to read it and do the assignment on it, since unfortuantely I'm not one that's strong enough to do that in front of my peers. *sigh* Back to the book itself, I have some ideas about who will be the one to die. If it goes along with all the hype about Hermione or Ron (since Harry obviously won't die) I think it will be
Ron.......
. Otherwise, my guess is that
Dumbledore will die
which would spark an interesting twist. I'll be reading this book nonestop when I get it, so I will hopefully be giving my thoughts on it as soon as possible, which should take a while considering the Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix will be 1/3 longer than the previous book. Add that to the fact that I'm a pretty slow reader...you get the idea.

I think
Dumbledore
will die, because I don't think they'll be getting rid of
Hermionie or Ron
anytime soon.
Snufkin
My dad is getting his copy delivered to our house tomorrow. My only plan is to stay up all night on the computer and count down until it comes out. J.K. Rowling mentioned that
she wasn't going to kill off Ron or Hermione
in the fifth book. Thank goodness too because they're both my favorite characters along with Serius and Lupin. I think that
Dumbledore or Sirius
might die. It would be so sad if either one of them died! A lot of people thought it would be
Hagrid
, but I just don't think it's him.
amibasuki
I am so PISSED!!! Transtic Nerve
I uhh... have no plans to buy this book... I like the movies, just no time to read book
Arkadyz
O M G...It was so crazy at work (Barnes & Noble) tonight for the release party...We had lots of great things for the kiddies and stuff but the line to buy the book was insane...And ppl started lining up at like 7 PM... Senor Ding Dong
I just got the book about 5 minutes, and
Sirius
dies. TO qoute the book, "So much of what he wanted before
sirius
's death felt that way these days...."
Sara
I'll read it eventually...I'll probably borrow it from my friend Carolyn, who I'm sure will get her hands on it by the end of this week, heh. I don't want to read it until I've re-read the others, though. I'll probably read them this weekend, then. I haven't read the fourth one since the month it came out, heh. It's been a while.
Syk3
Well, I got it last night as planned, more or less about 12 hours ago now. I got there around 11 and the parking lot was already filled, and when we went into Borders there were a lot of little kids chanting something in the back. There was food, at least from the store snack area thing off to the side, but when we finally got in line to get something to drink, they closed it up for some reason. I have to tell you, though, there was a much bigger fuss for this book than with any of the others, owing in part to the 3 year time lapse that allowed for people to read the book. There was much more order, a lot more people, and a good deal more stuff happening where the fourth book didn't even come close. So, we took our time, first getting tickets to get in line (we were 173 or so, and they started calling in groups of ten, which eventually expanded to groups of 40), and then took a look around the store. I noticed a good deal more than I ever had in the store before, finding manga and anime, as well as different games and accessories for gaming systems. The only thing out of that bunch that I got was a GameBoy Advance multiplayer link, but I also got the books for my summer reading just to get it out. These books included 'The Catcher in the Rye' and 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' if you are wondering, along with some books for my brother's list (which into 8th grade is extra credit, BLEH), and then I just sat around and played Wario Ware for a while. Well, we finally got the book at around 1:00 in the morning when they finally reached our numbers, and ended up getting the cassettes as well, since my brother is too lazy to read the books. Since then, I, with my new LotR bookmarks, started reading the book, but after taking occasional breaks and sleeping in I'm not that far. My lazy brother, on the other hand, has been listening to his tapes all day and is quite a bit further than me, but he has a party to go to so I will be able to catch up. As for the book itself, I won't spoil anything for those who havn't gotten it yet, but I think it started off good, then got worse, but is now living up to my expectations where I am in the book. I'll get back to you when I finish. Oh yeah, the book has about 870 pages, a good 140 or so more than it's predecessor.
Ryan
Yes. I stayed for the party at Barnes and Noble. They started selling it at 12:01. The party started at 10:00 but I got their at around 7:00. I got their early so I was one of the very first people to buy it in my city. I am only on page 100, but I am going out of town later on so I have about 3 hours for me to read. I will probably finish it by today.
G/S/B Master
( I don't know if this topic goes in here or Otaku Lounge. I just post it here since it is a forum for novels :D ) What do you think of the book so far? I'm on page 66 ( started last night. ) Harry seems to have temper in this one. The book has more violence then the other books.
Hedwig almost pecked Ron and Hermione to death. My god.
Get the book and read it right now if you don't beleive me. So far the book is very funny. You'll be sorta surprised what happened to Dudley.
Masterdramon
I love it. I got it yesterday and am on page 121.
I wonder what Aunt Petunia's howler is about?
Domon
I'm currently on chapter 24 or 25. I only got the book so far.
OOOOOhhhh!!! I'm so mad at that Umbridge woman. The nerve of her banning Harry from the Quidditch team...>.< GRRR!!! And her being this "High Inquisitor" Is just a load of BS. I hope Hermione turns the woman into a toad.
Rhys Mayiessen
Lol I just got my book today...I'm only on page 21 so i don't think i'm going to read those spoliers...
Solo Tremaine
I finished it on the day I bought it, and I'm saying nothing to anyone, lol :p I loved all of it. The only thing I will say is that
The ending was rather odd. Almost surreal, in a way.
The lines between fantasy and reality in this book have been blurred to the point that it's almost unpleasant to read at times,
with Harry being a lot more angry in this book
. I still recommend it, but I'd say the target audience has gone up at least a year, heh. It's less for younger children than it was before.
Circ
Iagree. What annoyed me a bit is that the traditionnal
explanation from Dumbledore told us very few interesting things. Most of it we had rather figured by ourselves at that moment.
Noticed the recurrences of socks?
Queen Asuka
Well, I am in the process of reading my copy and I'm almost to page 400 or so. It started off really GREAT for me. I was so gripped I didn't want to put it down and stayed up until 4 AM reading it. I didn't get to read much yesterday but I progressed alot today. I like how Harry Potter is so much more
agressive. He seems to be standing up for himself and not putting up with other's crap.
Almost everyone at church today cheated and looked in the back of the book to see who dies. I cannot ruin that for myself...
Semjaza
It's funny that so many people waited for this book for hours. I went to a few book stores today trying to find an Ultimates paperback. Every store had at least 10 copies in heh.
Syk3
Ohhh, I just cannot keep my hands off the book. It's very rare that I read, so when my grandparents came over today and found me reading for almost the entire night, they kept saying "Oh my gosh, and he's still reading that huge book." I think that this book really has the potential to be my favorite in the series. As Asuka says, yeah,
it's great how much tougher Harry has gotten; it really takes a sharp turn from the other books in that sense.
With all of these surprises and twists, but not too many, it's very exciting, and amazing that after so long J.K. Rowling still has enough in her to complete another fabulous book in a world that's completely out of her own head. Not surprising that the book is so popular that it's right up there with the bible in sales, translated into 55 different languages, and now Rowling is richer than the queen of England. But yeah, onto my progress. I just got to Chapter 24, page 516, since I've been reading all day. I'm usually quite a slow reader. o_O But what does everyone think of the cover? Personally, I find it to be another plus for the book, and again my favorite of the series. The whole blue sceme is AMAZING! ><;
Manic Webb
Okay...
