Charles
Welcome to Otaku Idol, round two. During the previous round, the judges unanimously voted off Na?dou and the public agreed as she occupied the lower tier in popular votes. Before I proceed into the next round?s event I would like to thank her for participating in the Otaku Idol competition. We appreciate your hard work. I would also like to apologize for the delay between round one and round two. Heaven's Clouds' computer passed away a couple weeks ago and he has only been able to venture onto the boards during work hours. The second round will be a bit more difficult than the last, although there will be less writing involved. The task for this round is to create a poem using the theme ?apocalypse?. The word ?apocalypse,? obviously does not have to be mentioned in the poem, however the poem should reflect some aspect of the end of the world. The deadline for this round is June 30. Before this thread is closed, Heaven's Cloud will post the names of three contestants that the judges feel should be eliminated from the competition. From that point on, the round will be executed much like last round. This thread will be closed and the judges will post their opinions and choose one competitor whom they think should be eliminated, and the public will vote in the poll and provide critiques, if they wish. Good Luck. There will be a guest judge for this round. That person will be revealed during the voting phase.
Deedlit
Here it goes....>.>;;; Walking around this maze of Life We all must battle with our strife For some it pierces like a knife But, yet, it doesn't end People grow wayward and are confused They murder and kill, and some abuse Because they feel that they've been used For Man's own selfish ends Death and Destruction plagued the lands Red blood is stained upon their hands Their time ran short just like the sand Inside an hourglass Darkness had come, the day had gone The world had seen its final dawn Joy was lost, but some moved on While lovers said "Good-bye." The world was at its final hour Many people had fallen and cowered They all stood to witness a mighty power That showed them impending doom But a ray of light shone down from the sky When many believed that their death was nigh It banished the darkness from on high And spared them of that fate
Lady Asphyxia
The apocalypse is coming! The death knell sounds the air. The apocalypse is come! Oh someone, have a care. But he?s a crazy man And no one sees his truth Perhaps in one time they?d hear But why listen to a ?Bruce?? His apocalypse is simple Nothing fiery, no glory Man will destroy itself ? And that?s the whole story. But no, they won?t listen To crazy men on the street. Because an apocalypse is livable ? They?ve seen it on TV. First comes the warnings, And second is the panic [Though they won?t do hysteria] And something quite volcanic. But, you see, it?s not that easy The world will not explode. Crazy Bruce was right this time In time, we?ll just erode.
Braidless Baka
This day the heat was not itself The weatherman, convinced of change But the poor soul had no idea Of what his fate had pre-arranged The ground was the thing that gave at first Though slowly, it was over time Easing gently through the motions As though it were a knowing mime Then suddenly it gave its all Foundations felling with a snap Frustration released with such contempt The trembling echo of a sudden crack And then the heat took to the sea Raging tempest morphed to steam the water sizzled and cast away No more important than our dreams Then from the sea, up into heaven The inferno turned, a raging sky The birds then panicked, all soared away But we refused to hear their cry We were all blind beyond ourselves This wonderful thing to explain Why is this, and how does it work? We were desperate to stake our claim Our death began to build one day But bless us if we saw Then common sense enveloped us But by then we were no more... Ravenstorture
Dead Heart In the beginning, there was nothing. In the beginning, the beginning of the end... it was nothing. Just a little darkness around the edges of the sky. Thick, roiling, black clouds threatening with loud voices Casting shadows on the city, causing people to bring in their washing And close their car windows. For weeks, though, nothing became of it. Plants died from lack of sunlight, tans faded But not a drop of rain fell. In the beginning of the end there was slight darkness, Followed by confusion. Newscasters openly admitting they knew not what was happening... The street folk were the first to catch on - "Behold the sky!" Their signs read. "Behold the coming of the lord!" Are you ready? Churches began to ask the fatal question. Suicide rates increased slightly. In the middle of the beginning of the end there was a slight panic. American bunkers were occupied once again. The thunder didn?t stop. Household pets disappeared. The horses went nuts. Television programs held interviews with people who were convinced... No one had a clue. "Come on, Mary..." they'd whisper in the supermarket aisles. "You didn't really think it would happen, did you?" In the middle of the end we all were convinced. The four horsemen were coming. Suddenly, people were giving to the poor - to charities. The cure for AIDS was developed. People smiled in the street, and greeted strangers. In the beginning, these random acts of kindness were accompanied by nervous glances upwards. A sort of "Are you watching this, God?" Homeless people were accepted into homes. People helped each other with dropped shopping bags. Road accidents were followed with cries of, "Are you alright?!" Instead of, "You'll be hearing from my lawyer, Mr WNI-22948." Crime reached an all time low - criminals scared that police were on a high alert. Scared that god was watching. In the end of the middle of the end, babies began to cry. The heavens opened, and the rain began to fall. People walked instead of driving, and made friends with whoever they sat next to on the train. Lightning felled trees, and sparked even more desperate acts of affability. Like electric pulses to a dead heart, a nudge to start it again... Everyone was scared. Right things for the wrong reason... Nothing to lose. Still... In the beginning, there was nothing. In the end, there was nothing. A shame really... Such a beautiful flower blossoms in the light of panic.
conpiracymonki
Self-Grown Apocalypse The man twists and groans and turns, writhing in agony upon his bed. A million thoughts are ripped apart by the venomous snakes inside his head. He had pressed the button that decided the fate of millions. And he knew that it was coming for he had abused his might and power. He had denied many the right to live; innocent blood coloured the sky in meteoric shower. Murdered in uncountable numbers those he could not look into the eyes of. The man sweats and heavily pants in confusion and in pain. As the curses from the dead are voiced; the questionings of the slain. But it was meant to be this way, for he was one of them: a man. And now the world was black and dead or atleast his very own He had kickstarted Armageddon before he could be overthrown. A tool and a lesson was what he was created to be, after all. He had devastated lives and unleashed the hell of repeated humanity. And now the judgement would be upon him and he could not plead his clear insanity. How ironic that while the people feared God's anger, it was themseleves they had to thank for the End. The rotting corpses in the graves were with the people of the world. Juu
It's still 11:53 my time... ><; ...And it's terrible. Sorry! >< ------ Blood-tainted skies For all those lies. Only the damned Shall remain on this land. The water's gone bitter As the plants die and wither. Hell's been unleashed, All walls have been breached. Fire sparks overhead A show for the mislead. Fumes enter their lungs The bell has just been rung. The world cries with pain All losses with no gain. No lives will be kept There are no chances left. Creatures rise Of all shapes and size. Hungry for lives They stab with their knives. Though they thought it'd never end, They can no longer defend. As these words utter their lips, It's the apocalypse, the apocalypse!
Zidargh
Stilling of Time The Apocalypse it was named, Inside one being's mind, Of which we all had been framed, Upon having been blind. Lacking our respective vision, We all stood away, For having not acknowledged this intuition, With inevitable respect, we'd have to pay. After arrogance came question, As ignorance follows, we realise, For there will be one with a blind suggestion, About our apparent power and size. Therefore it was left unread, The prophecy that had no origin, Being clearly laid before our stead, The progress of time was forced to begin. But to whom has the might to halt time itself, As we had this apparent power, No destined one had appeared and helped, As we approached the final hour. Time created life, And life revolved around time, So time ended with fear and strife, Signalled by the ear splitting chime. From the prophecy a spoken limit known as end, Was described and followed through, Then we thought the rules could bend, And by manipulation we attempted to woo. After all the civil attempts, Came conflict, struggle and sins, Politics were to now redempt, As we were now only mere linings. 'Twas with this we began to live, And appreciate life to its full, After all we must now be positive, As time is now bound to be dull. Time taught us all to pay redemption, And attempt to change our ways, Now all we saw was the moon, As the blood red skies existed in our final days. Now fear had struck, And without record we were destined to send, Our beliefs in that final spot of luck, After all, time's inevitable to end.
Charles
I'll take this opportunity to update everyone on the competition and apologize for the wait. Currently, the judges are deciding which three contestants will be affected by the impeding vote-off. The selection, of course, has to considered carefully. So, once again, I apologize for the delay. We hope to continue on with the voting as soon as possible.
