Something interesting about InuYasha...

A while ago, I was thinking about the three main, girl characters in InuYasha and thought about how similar they looked. Of course, I'm talking about Kagome, Kikyou, and Sango. And then I got to thinking, maybe Sango, too, is a reincarnation of Kikyou. Here's my possible theory I've been thinking up. It may sound messed up and may have some holes in it, but you never know...

Maybe, just maybe, Sango is also a reincarnation of the Priestess Kikyou. Not only do they look alike (which is not saying much for animated characters), but Sango is from the town of the Shikon Jewel's origin. It would only make sense that after Kikyou died and took the jewel with her that it would be reincarnated into a girl from the village of it's origin, right?

Ok, so Kikyou died 50 years before the show took place, taking the jewel with her and forever putting it to rest, free from the grasps of evil. Then Sango was born around 30 years later, but was not born with the jewel. After, Sango was born and died, there were to be more and more reincarnations of Kikyou (like Sango) to keep peace in the world, until it was decided that this was not enough and the power of the Shikon Jewel was needed afterall. Then, for however many years it took for Kagome to be born, it was decided that she was to be reincarnated with the jewel in her, destined to travel back in time and use it's power to save Feudal Japan.

Since this show is not over, no one actually knows how it ends and though I doubt that anything that I've written above could take any part in the story, it very well could happen.

Well, anyone have any thought on this or just want to tell me that I'm stupid for thinking this? Share.

It ummm... could be true. But I highly doubt it. I mean Kikyou and Kagome were supposed to kinda look the same... but if you really think about it and look at the three different pictures over and over they don't really look much alike.... trust me I've done it. But I guess a reason is that that is the way they draw the women. If you also put the pictures of all the women together, you can see simalarites with most of them. I hope you understood that... normally people don't get my endless babbling. :babble:

As you can see, I can be very imaginitive and one little thing I thought of lead to this 3 paragraph description. I knew that this wasn't going to happen in the show, but I just wanted to share with everyone what I've been thinking about and how far it's gone.

I'm crazy!! :)

Well, it was pretty interesting, no? Kinda makes you think.

It could be that there were 2 reincarnations of Kikyo. But Sango can't purify the jewel, so she can't be a reincarnation of Kikyo. Unless..naahh

First, why would it take SO long just for one girl with a jem to be reincarnated for the purpose of going BACK in time. It seems kinda pointless. Why not give it to the 'next in line' to be reincarnated as this one person? Then we get the question(of my own design); 'if she went back in time to help the future, then the future she lived in was only created because she went back into the past and saved humanity, therefore she had to have succeded or she wouldn't have existed to succeed'....yeah, I'm confused too...

It not a bad idea, but I think not. Kagome, is the one and only incarnation of Kikyou. That shows the attraction with Inuyasha and Kagome, if Sango was a re incarnation of Kikyou than Inuyasha would be also attracted to Sango, which he's not. Kagome only. Nice theory, but not logical.

Yes, InuYasha is attracked to only Kikyou and Kagome. He was never attracked to Sango. I know I read up to Volume 29 in the manga. If you pay attention to all the female characters in Fuedal Japan, you would notice that they all have many simularities like hair and eyes, but they are all slightly different. WARNING!! Spoiler tags below. If you don't want to find out what happens in the show or manga, then don't read it! I am just saying what happens later in the show to explain my reasoning.
InuYasha loves Kikyou, and he also loves Kagome. In the beginning, he was confused with who was who, but Kikyou came back alive and he started getting really mixed feelings. In Volume 29, Chapter 283, titled InuYasha's real feelings, InuYasha went on a search for Kikyou to see if she was still alive. He did that because he wanted to make sure that she was because he wanted to go further with Kagome, meaning he wanted to have a close relationship with Kagome like he had with Kikyou.(kissing) Kagome felt bad because of InuYasha's mixed feelings, but that is another story.
From what I read so far, the theory of InuYasha having feelings for Sango and Sango being a reincarnation, I think it is definitely illogical.

I know you were, I was posting my thoughts toward your idea and how I thought your idea wouldn't be possible, I was also adding to what Emme888 said before hand. I didn't mean to make you upset. Sorry

The theory makes sense in that there would be a higher power at work trying to determine the fate of the Shikon Jewel and those connected to it. I mean, how likely is it that the reincarnated body of the former priestess of the Jewel just HAPPENS to be born on a property with a magick well that goes back to the EXACT time that priestess lived? Not likely. As for Sango, Kikyo, and Kagome looking alike, well, in anime, hair style and color, as well as eye-shape and color, is usually the only thing seperating characters. When those things are all alike, well . . .

Also, on a side note, it seems to me that everyone is assuming that the only reason InuYasha loves Kagome is because she has Kikyo's soul, which I don't think is very fair. Kagome has obviously established a very different personality from her former incarnation, and even if you argue that InuYasha fell in love with Kikyo's soul, then consider this: The soul doesn't determine the heart, since Kikyo's walking around with only part of a soul and yet portrays the full range of human emotions.

In the theory of Sango being one of Kikyo's reincarnations, InuYasha's lack of romantic interest in her is no kind of indicator, in my opinion.

Done ranting! (For now . . .)

Now, that you think about it... Sango and Kikyo DO look alike. It's freaky! I'm not going to say I don't think this could happen because, well, they DO look alike! But, I don't really, positively, down-right-sure think this can hapen. Why? I have no idea. I just have this weird gut feeling. And we all know Miroku has feeling for Sango. How would he react if Sango really was Kikyo's reincarnation? I mean, he doesn't seem very fond of the priestess. At least he doesn't seem to be. :confuse2: I'm confused! *pout*

Oh, by the way, I don't think you're stupid. It's good to express your thoughts and think freely. *pats you on back*

Welcome to OtakuBoards, Chibi Devil Me ^_^. Be sure to read the FAQ in the sidebar menu on the left, heh.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to close the thread, not least because there is an InuYasha threda already open (check the Threads Directory), but also because this thread is from 2003. Threads (unless they're about a specific anime that isn't already in the Threads Directory) older than 30 days, i.e. past the default forum display shouldn't really be brought back- the discussions tend to die hundreds of deaths over and over again, the discussion gets repetitive and a lot of it becomes redundant after too long anyway. It's best to have one thread for each anime.
