We began walking along the street when an idea came to me.

"I think the best idea would be to follow that crazy deamon thing that attacked us. Hey Qyrain, maybe he's your father?"

Both Dragalla and Qyrain just stared at me.

"No, seriously, I think we should follow that thing, he went east right? He jumped off that building, didn't he?"

Dragalla: But I still need a weapon of some description.

"True, Hey, go into that alley, there should be two fallen deamons, I'm pretty sure one of them had a sword or something."

I said, pointing into the alleyway where I had killed the two beasts. Dragalla ran off into the darkness. My gaze followed her, well her lower-half anyway.

"Hmm, I'm glad she chose pants that were a size smaller then what she should probably wearing."

Qyrain: For once, I agree with you Indrid.

"You think she has a fine *** too?"

Qyrain simply rolled his eyes, then went on to explain further.

Qyrain: The beast that attacked us.He did say he was leading the attack, if I remember correctly.

"Ahh, of course, yeah, I think you're right.

Dragalla walked out of the darkness, wielding a short sword, stained with human blood.

Dragalla: So are we giving chase to that fiend?

"I believe we are" I replied, winking.

Indrid, for all his previous assertations that he didn't want a crappy self-discovery thing going was, seemed more than willing to use it as an excuse to go get himself killed. Qyrain didn't have that problem. He'd get himself killed without an excuse. Dragella didn't seem to have any problem with it.

Unanimous. Time to go kill ourselves.

Qyrain was fairly certain, fully certain actually, that that fiend had not been his father. In main because it had attacked him at all, but secondly because Qyrain was quite certain there would have been a level of auric recognition present if he had been.

Qyrain was jolted out of his reverie by the sudden knowledge that the closer they came to their assailant, the more minor demons they were likely to encounter. Most likely not in great numbers yet, but it only took a few score to kill them....

*experiments with the general idea of how magic is used, instead of following the general incantation path*
---

Unas: Damn it all.. They are reawakening it.

His eyes traced across the horizon, scattered ruins blemishing the perfect wasteland around him. Finally, he sat down on the ground and closed his eyes, rubbing his forehead.

Unas: So what you are telling me is that without any incantation at all, a human randomly evolved the ability to perform magical arts?

Ryan: There was no uttered incantation at all- he was suprised as I.

Unas: He tapped.. That. Jehovah is granting them the ability to control pure mana just by, as you said, tapping into it. We use incantations to do so, but it sounds like all they need is an extended time to concentrate- even emotions trigger it. That bastard is handing nuclear weapons to children. He's so desprate for an easy win he-.. Goddamn it, how is that even possible? Even Angels need some form of latin or ancient incantation to trigger it.

A cold, harsh rain began to fall on the entire area from storm clouds above. Thunder pounded viciously, immediately followed by red superheated bolts of lightning.

Unas: The only thing that limits them from a holy apocalypse spell is the fact that their brain cant handle the flow of mana to extremes..

Demon: But we are still to be cautious. They can still be as powerful as we.

Unas: No. They cant.

Unas stood slowly, tail flicking behind him.

Unas: For our bodies alone are tougher than theres, our skills are unmatched with weapons, and our magics we can control far more accurately than they ever will or can. Satan made them imperfect eons ago, and they still are that way today.

Ryan: We just will have to be more cautious..

Unas: You said something about a "traitor demon"- was it female or male?

Ryan: Female- I have a feeling its the one that betrayed us after the sacrifices to bless our major strike.

Unas: Hmmm.. I can feel a near-distant power outside the shield..

Demon: Sir should I check it out?

Unas: What can you do? You're probably weaker than the traitor with them. Ryan, what do you think of me intercepting them so they dont distract us- i'm sure I could suprise them if I can hide my tail..

Rugiel gasped for air that wouldn't come, then, relaxing his body, surrendered his eternal soul. Ananda sighed and removed her hand and arm from his body, quietly....slowly. He slumped down, a useless shell. She took his starseed from his necklace, and pushed it into her body.

Then she raised her wings...and followed Arano's distinctive scent. Cloying and sweet, death in a fragrance.

Six wings moved quickly, the kind only found on Seraphim....like Alujah. Unless it was an underhand trick from her closest and once dearest friend, she would be wise to fear this gift's tremendous power. She looked away from the scar on her chest and turned on her other sight. Eyes focused as the swift trail of Arano flashed into view.

A tear sparked on her eyes and she brushed it away. Her body was covered in silver white blood, contrasting with her tanned skin....but it wouldn't do to hide her sin any longer. She might as well give up the ghost and move on with her rappidly declining lifestyle.

It would be easier.

The first minor demon wasn't a problem. After conveniently overextending itself in a lunge with a pike-like weapon, Indrid left it with a few extra holes to breath out of. Dragella disposed of the next one with a few sharp slices.

Qyrain hung back from the combat on both occasions, looking at several points like he wanted to step in, but some uncertainly kept him in place. He quite certain that some cosmic indifference would mean he'd have to handle the next one though.

The rain started abruptly, bringing with it ferocious storm elements. Qyrain didn't know why, and he dismissed the idea that they were approaching some kind of elemental nexus as pure fancy. They were approaching a demon infestation, not some malignant weather fiend. Unfortunate that, but what could one do.

Qyrain absently let energy run through him, trying to determine how it could be controlled, or at the very least, harnessed. Though he could fill himself to the point where his aura seemed to quiver, he could not direct a single spark of power outside that influence. Some sort of trigger must be required, but whether he could provide it, or whether it must come from an outside threat, remained to be seen.

He found out a good half a second later, when he was abruptly thrown to the ground. A minor fiend, not powerful, but muscled like an alley cat, had slipped up behind him, and knocked his feet out from under him. It sprang towards him now, talons braced for the kill. Qyrain coiled his legs like a viper, and straightened them just as fast, lofting the creature over his head. He brought his legs down and rolled forward, coming to his feet in a low tiger stance, fingers liked talons and locked.

The demon snarled, and lunged again. Qyrain danced aside, and thrust his hand forward. His fingers impaled like enspelled daggers, rending a hole in the creature's wings and torso. It screamed, a shrill, piercing sound, and dropped away, fleeing. Qyrain looked to Dragella and Indrid, a slight smile on his face.

Qyrain: It seems such displays aren't really of much use, when one's body can become a weapon.

Qyrain looked down at his scythe, debating a moment, before shaking his head. If he was in a position to need it, he'd be dead anyway, and he could do without the added encumberance.

Lockstep and slide, he spun, alerted by a clink of gravel. Not the being he had previously run off, by any rate. This was something, or someone different.

Raiha, you obviously don't understand the concept of being in a DIFFERENT PLANE OF EXISTANCE [i.e.; the Void]. Just...stay the **** away from Arano. I swear, all you end up doing with your posts is messing up every RPG.
-- -- -- -- --
A swirling mass of light and darkness, often shifting in appearance and twirling in circles. An inverted, horrific discolor painted the world a dark brown and green. But then, amoungst the disformed copy of the planet were whisps of blue here, dashes of white, flashes of black, and so much more.

Here, in the Void, mana, once channeled, could be seen. But only through meditation of the highest level could pure mana be seen. Here, only the basics and summoned magic could be viewed.

But this was no stand-point for mana to wait to be pulled to someone's need. No, this was the spectral shadow of our universe. Here, those in the Void could only respond to whatever happened in the Void, and vice versa.

But none of that mattered to the tanned figure that rocketted by, propelled by necromatic energy. Humanoid in figure, extensvie armor and shield, with a brown, leather bandana holding back the wild blue hair, this was Arano's true body. The body he lost when Teria sent him into the hole in space.

Racing thoughts pounded against his badly-needed concentraition. Simikiel, though diseased and decaying at a desperate rate, was alive in this world. Something Arano once suspected, but could find no evidence of it.

Stuggling to keep his mind latched onto the Void, Arano felt his presence wavering in the spectral. He shook his head, eyes pinched shut, trying to focus. He awoke to the real world, slamming into and through a large office building, sending the badly damaged structure into an even sadder state of appearance.

Once he regained his composure, he landed forcefully, causing a fault in the cement sidewalk below him. A small crater, maybe only three feet in depth and diameter etched clearly into the soil.

Arano wondered what happened, why he had been let go from his bind, when he suddenly felt their presence. Strong...for Angels, at least. Around ten of them, each flying gracefully overhead in formation.

Arano: "Well, I'll be damned. You summoned me from the Void. Clever."

The Angels, stiff-faced and armed to the teeth, did not reply. The only dove downwards, one by one.

Arano crouched down, into a defensive stance, drawing the Deloz Fury. He had to time this just right...

A gross exaggeration of the truth, but I'll let it slide. Honestly, you've done nothing but insult me and tell me what a bad writer I am for two weeks now...soon to be three. I can take a hint. And I took it. I never intended on interfering, although you did....ask if I wanted to "join" you.

As soon as she felt she was getting close, the signs came to an abrupt halt. In the void of what she was born into. Obvious enough. He wanted to fight Agustus himself. Fine.

It wasn't as if he was no match. He was....it would just involve more blood than he bargained for. It's not every day an arch seraphim fights a demon god. She rubbed her temples, then shot off in another direction. South this time, to the place where the islands were.

She landed on the sands of Haiti, wings folding down into her back gracefully. He turned and stared at her. A seal in his hand, transformed into a bowl. The first horseman....aside from all the agony already happening. He poured it into the sea. Instantly, it turned into a pool of blood and steam, and dead fish began to wash up on the beach. He watched her, stained in blood, hair falling down around her face. His voice echoed around her body, like a caress.

"And the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly and painful sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped his image.

The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died."

She sighed to herself, he was quoting the book of the ending. And he knew where she would end as well. The angel disapeared. And she opened her mouth and finished what he had started.

"The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood.

For they have shed the blood of your saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.

Revelations 16: 1-6."

Ryan: Do it.

Unas bowed gracefully and disappeared faster than the eye could see, slideing through the shield with ease. Across the wasteland he sprinted, before leaping into the dark, ruined alleyways in the city. He approached the signature power of a demoness, standing in the shadows as a human slaughtered one of the foolish lesser demons.

Clink, clink..

Unas smiled as the gravel he had kicked alerted them to his presence, and he stepped out of the darkness, his tail remaining in it to the best of his ability. With his blade at his side dripping acid down onto the ground, he glanced at the three of them.

Unas: You are not welcome here. A great battle is going to commence between the forces of the Angelic Guard and Anarchy Prime. We dont need any third parties or traitors to get involved in supernatural business.

???: Who are you?

Unas cocked his head to the side slightly, his tail comeing out of the shadows behind him.

Unas: I am of what is born from pure mana, an experiment in a new race of demons. They wanted to know if they could create demons without the need of a soul. 5 were started, 4 died. I am the only Vatborn alive.

He raised his sword, ready to strike.

Unas: I am not here to kill you, it would be a waste of energy. Leave this area, now.

She gazed into the blinding sun, pushing her hair out of the way. His presence was gone. Where he was now....she had no idea. Instead, she turned away and sat down on the beach. She ran the sand through her fingers, feeling its warmth. The blood red ocean seemed to mock her. Taunt her. She sighed to herself and drew her blade. She sat crosslegged, placing it flat across her lap.

Neo Angelorum Ananda set her wrists down on the blade, quiet and calm as could be. With one movement it could end. Her life would drain away, but her future would be the same. Why not see if the break could be made?

Anything would be preferable to a cowardly end. She rose to her feet, the sword slidding off her lap and to the sands. She reached down with a trembling hand and picked it up. She sheathed it carefully, then turned to face the west. Moon would rise. And then turn to blood. The beast would rise, with the woman on his back.

And another woman would give birth to a son to rule the world. She was not that woman. But it would come, and she would bear witness.

Qyrain: For a demon, you seem rather hesitant to kill. Shall we investigate why?

The being in front of him returned to blusterous challenge. He obviously had some measure of intelligence. It merely smiled, his blade tracing an easy, threatening arc through the air. Qyrain dropped back into as easy knifehand stance, his body awash with mana. His eyes were pristine snow, and white pulses could be seen in his neck. Even his fingerstips, under the nails, appeared white. The demon remained firmly unimpressed anyway. It contemptuously flicked a spray of acid towards Qyrain, that intentionally fell short. Qyrain took in the smoking ground, allowing himself a note of rueful amusement. He straightened, but kept his body loose enough to dodge.

Qyrain: Apparently, humankind was out of their league as soon as this whole thing started. I severely doubt one more time will make a difference.

"Whether I kill you now, or I stand back and allow you to be caught in the crossfire, you will die. You're only option is to leave."

Qyrain: Even though that's fully based on the idea that you'll win the battle. Should we, say, secrete ourselves with the Angelic Guard, who would no doubt be less hostile to the idea of a little help, and they happened to claim victory in the fray...I have this lingering feeling that our chances of survival would be far greater than what you would have us believe them to be.

The demon shook its head in what could almost be exasperation.

"Why is it that you mortals must ever fail to see reason unless it is paired with shed blood?"

Qyrain: Because you and your ilk would have it no other way, demon.

"You're rather outspoken, for a mortal."

Qyrain only returned a tight smile, leashed agression almost pouring out of him. The demon noticed, and returned a wicked grin of its own. The blade raised again, corrosive, foul liquid redoubling its appearance. The ground around the being was not scarred and torn, the quiet hiss of decay having gone un-noticed during the altercation. The place was fast becoming a sere, blighted stretch of ground, for all that it wasn't much better in the first place. The manufactured creature in front of them showed no concern, apparently untouched by the hideous fluid. Most likely a result of its unnatural beginnings. The air thickened around them, tension and weather combining into a stifling mix. Qyrain's eyes narrowed, the white glare seeming all the more intense for it. He felt Indrid and Dragella shift uncomfortably, somewhere behind him. He stopped a moment to consider whether he was indeed too far out of his depth, but the answer was not yet forthcoming.

Unas: ... You really have no idea why we wont lose, do you... Behind me, through the shield, past the Necropolis towers, through a mile of wasteland is a gate. A gate that is an hour from completetion. The fissure that we, Anarchy Prime, came out of was only stable enough for the small force we have here now.. this gate will be able to inundate this area with demonic forces much more powerful than the idiotic grunts that are strone about this place.

Unas raised his hand, aimed at the three of them and with a serious, bored expression on his face continued.

Unas: Right now I can unleash a torrent of acid that will run through all of you. You may be able to tap into mana, but how much of it can you control? You are probably more of a danger to yourself than me if you try to control it at this juncture. Have none of you read Revelation? Armageddon is God's way of cleaning out all evil, humans included. This is the final war, and if we dont win it then there will be no Earth anymore. God's patience has ended with both our species, and you are too blind to see it. Demons are barbaric, we are rebels, we are rogues, and we have been forced on the surface to survive. Now, before you go about joining any Angelic Guard, remember that Jehovah's goal is to destroy all evil- how clean is YOUR consience?

Unas turned, and began to walk into the alley, tail flicking within a few inches of his throat. He stopped briefly, and glanced back.

Unas: This is merely a Civil War. Satan wanted the worship that Jehovah was going to get from all the perfect decendants of Adam and Eve- thusly your and our imperfection begins. If you want to kill someone, go try and kill him. Maybe even Jehovah is to blame for this. Angels disagree with him, we disagree with him, but many angels are blinded by self-righteousness. Thus we fight for Satan's glory. Now- leave, because to both sides you should be, technically, expendable.

He continued down the alleyway, murmering in latin to himself..

Qyrain relaxed, letting the mana flow out of his body. He shrugged, and turned to Indrid and Dragella.

Qyrain: I never actually trusted religion anyway.

Indrid: You believe him?

Qyrain: What have I got to lose either way? This certainly makes more sense, not to mention appeals to my particular bent of insane hilarity.

Indrid: So what? We go attack god then?

Qyrain: No, we attack anyone who attacks us. Check that...Just anyone. Angel, demon, or misguided human.

Indrid: Some moral crusade of destruction?

Qyrain: Of course not. Merely rampant, typical humanoid paranoia and aggressiveness. The demon said it himself. They aren't perfect, we aren't perfect. The angels certainly aren't perfect, through self-righteous blindness if nothing else. Imperfect things can die. And with both sides of the conflict calling on mana and burning it like cheap oil, the more we take up, the more likely it is that certain things, such as the world, will remain standing when its all over. Are we fighting Apocalypse or a demon invasion anymore? We're fighting for soveriegnity. Humanity.

Unas listened to them talk and snorted, smirking to himself- maybe some of these creatures were half intelligent after all. Leaping up along the wall he ascended up into the air, arms crossed.

The distant call of a horn resonated throughout the area. Unas doubled his speed instantly, a loud boom shattering the few windows left from the sheer force of the acceleration. They were here. They were attacking. It was time.

He charged down onto the wasteland, slideing and pointing his sword to the heavens.

Unas: FIRE YOUR ARROWS!

Arrows sang through the sky upwards, through the clouds as dark figures came through them- Angels..

She folded herself up in her wings, receeding deep into the corners of her mind. Everything around her fadded into the simple rhythmic crashing of waves. If demons were massing around her now, she wouldn't stir. She needed time to heal herself from the current pains....and the only cure was a long time spent in the astral plane that was her mind. Or...what was left of it.

Something caught her attention, the screaming of a Seraph. Perhaps it was the staseeds she now posessed. Tal's was left in his body, but the connection was unmistakeable. Rugiel's was quiet and smooth, but the gift starseed from Alujah was screaming. She opened her mind and saw everything pass by. Agustus yelling, moving his sword to counter the blade of Arano. Alujah spreading her wings, rainbows playing off the feathers. Renayoshi laughing and dancing over the clouds.

Rugiel groaned, as his soul milled around inside the Guf. It was swiftly becoming empty again.....as the prophecy's spoke of......what hope was there? There was none. An end would come.

Dragalla: I'm not fighting for humanity. I'm fighting for vengance. It JUST so happend humans tend to be enemies to my enemies and therefor I joined you in your fight. I could care less bout mortals, cept you two, don't ask why you won't like the answer. But after all. Nevermind, shall we move on? I need to kill somethi-

Almost the moment the words slipped from her lips a human ran out of the alley behind them, firing a gun at Qyrain, Indrid herself and the other...

She flexed her wings and shot up in the air. Raching a high altitude within moments she pulled ehr wings straight back and rocketed twards the man. He fired on her at will but every bullet was deflected by her momentarry barrier. Once she was upon him her right wing wipped out and the hooke claw slit a clean cut across the mans neck, silencing and kiling him all at the same moment. She wiped the blood off her wing's claw with her shirt sleeve.

Great! I thought to myself, she's a fecking psycho, just what I need...two of them.
"Well the deamon guy jumped of that building over there, and I'm guessing he went east, towards that weird white glow. So shall we?"
We set off, walking through buildings and past countless dead humans, along with a few deamons. Occasionaly we would come across a live human or deamon, but normally we were forced to kill all that we came across.
Humans seemed to suspect us of being traitors of the human race, who had sided with the deamons and the deamons supspected the opposite. However we had managed to make our party slightly larger, and there were now six of us, all humans except for Dragalla.

Dragalla's eyes were narrowed the entir time, wishing to destroy all the humans but these two. She wondered if they knew why? It didn't matter, but it did bother her that Indrid thought her a psycho. She knew she wasn't, didn't he see she was just angered? She wanted revenge and an attacker was the closest thing. Or, did he wish her to let the man shoot him? As his bullet would have if her wings hadn't stopped it last minute, miliseconds before her right wing cut his throught. Her wing ached slightly. there was a small hole in her left wing, it throbbed all around it, but did not bleed. The wound would never heal. She frowned. She had hoped the men knew nothing of her kinds ways or laws. Then she would be humilitaed. For her laws stated if anyone spared her life when she would have otherwise been killed she was indebited to he/she or them for life. Until she died her life would be in these two men's hands. She would die for them if she must, she had to. She rathered die than break her kinds laws, for that ment somethign far worse than death. She shook her head as they kept walking...her mind englufed in thought.
