well in the last few months i have noticed that anime came in very strong here in israel, since the beggining of our kids channel showing dragonballz people started to know what anime means. and now we have spirited away in theaters (this is good that is) since most of you guys have diffrent point of views, i dont quiet know how to perfectly ask this, but do you think its just a passing fashion or this is gonna stay for a long time (though i wish to hear the second option... i have to say it sounds like a passing fashion...) so what do you think, is it gonna stay for long?

I think it's here to stay, there are too many hard core anime fans now...and it wouldn't just go away.

I hope it never does for it is the fizzle on the televizzle, as Snoop Dogg would say.lol^_^

It's here to stay, even if it becomes not as popular as before, people will stay with it cause it awesome.

The anime cartoons are made with an excellence, that rarely is seen in american or any other cartoons. When I see a anime cartoon, I know that's it's anime because of the quality of the animation.

It's not passing fade at all, it may just be a cartoon for some, but for hard core animers it's a way of life.
And come on once you see anime, you are hooked. And all other cartoons are no longer the same, because anime is the best.

And will stay the best if it's loyal supports stay behind it.
Anime is here, so get use to it, or leave. Simple as that.

I would the main hype about anime has settled down, at least here anyway. It has hit its peak and now those who actually enjoyed it stayed with it, and those who were into simeply because it was popular are forgetting it. I do not see as many "otaku-wannabes" anymore, so due to the scene settling down I believe it has gotten better.

Umm, to me, it seems that Solid meant, in the Q asked, that is it a passing fashion in Israel. Solid did say "here in Israel", you know.

Anyways, I think not so, I mean I don't think so; as long as people like it and as long as there are always people to like it, which shouldn't be a problem, it most likely isn't then.

Uh, Emme888, not that I'm one to make anything of it but, you came off kinda mean there, esp. with that last thing you said.

That's just how music works. Bands always wind up being stripped of the people clinging on and are left with those who would have been around no matter what.

Anime has always had its following here. I've been watching the stuff on and off for 15 years, and there was always this cult scene surrounding it.

Anime kind of just blew up suddenly because of a barrage of so many things at once. I think, in a sense, the market became over-saturated, which is probably why it's leveling off now.

Anime is a part of Japanese culture though, and it always will be. As long as there are people around the world interested, there will be some sort of demand. It won't just go away.

The worst of the craze is over, for which I'm thankful, because I think it leaves people more willing to look at anime as something serious, rather than refer to it as "that weird Pokemon stuff." And no, I believe anime is here to stay. It may not remain as intensely popular as it is today, but when you have such incredibly moving movie epics such as "Grave of the Fireflies" (an anime war movie which acclaimed American critic Roger Ebert himself proclaimed a masterpiece) it's obvious that anime is an artform that will, as most artforms do, never die out as long as someone remembers how truly wonderful it really is.

I think that anime is going to stay because its fans are going to keep it alive. I would rather that none of those wannabes (who like it, only because it is popular) because they are fake. I hate it when people are like that.

I really do think it's just a passing phase. Like I've said previously, and as others have said, the people who truly enjoy it will stick with it and all the other idiots will forget it and move on. I hate Cartoon Network for this. I mean sure, I got to see some interesting series, but I think it's distorted this view that I always thought anime was. It took away the "Specialness" of it. But who am I? I am just a lowly stupid creature who hates herself and the world....*Slinks off*

Whether or not it is a passing phase. That doesnt matter tight now. Its hear now. So all I can say is enjoy it while you can. And that goes for all things no matter what anyones says. The difference is it that anime can have a greater affect and therefore probably dwindle off more slowly or even influence a new movement of animation. That is yet to be seen. But hey No matter what I'm gonna be a true fan of anime and I will support it in anyway possible. The real question is are you? Will you stick around with anime long after others say aww its okay or they dont really care about it!!!
If you are then you are a true OTAKU!!!!!
