Are there ghosts?

I know this is just a knockoff of the aliens thread.. But there's all those other supernatural quandaries out there.. ^_^ So why not make a thread about ghosts?

This one can't be disclosed as easily with science as aliens though. (But heck, the truth about aliens still is far from being solved..) I think the only way you can say you believe in ghosts is if you've had a hands-on experience with them or know someone who has.. (Or if you're a Shaman like Yoh Asukara, but I won't get into that)

I think that ghosts exist.. I've always felt strange in old places... And I'm always seeing things out of the corner of my eye in those places.. Of course, that may be the schitzophrenia (spelling?) talking...

So, I think:

*whispers* I see dead people.

I actually did this topic a long, long time ago when I first joined here. I got some pretty interesting responses. As for me I do believe in Ghosts, I've had many "hands-on experience" I go looking for ghosts. Where my friend lives is perfect to, there is some pretty freaky things at his house and everywhere near it.

i do beleve there are ghosts...but in a different way. I think that ghosts are fragments of a memory that apear in you mind at the place were the event happend. SO i dont think ghosts haunt people or try to scare them but just remind them of the good times that they had with that person.....

p.s. when ever you think of ghosts you hear theings and freak. you also theink you see somthing but its not really there. Thats what makes scary movies so...scary.

My sister still thinks there is a well under our basment after seeing the ring HAHAHA

In the last thread I told the horrifying tale of how a ghost blew my napkin off a table outside once. I dare not repeat it because some of you might wet your pants upon reading it.

It was definitely the most scary and believable story in the thread though.

Actually an iteresting fact, but they have found out that adolesences sometimes have pshycic abilities (they don't actually know if it's completely true, but they have been reasearching it though). Strange huh. But yeah I found that interesting.

Oh and the relevance to this post was that sometimes that is how ghostly experiences are explained like when you see something fly across the room.

My mother grew up in a haunted house...I've heard tales of ghosts and things of that nature like since I was very, very little.

With that in mind, yes I've always believed in ghosts and spirits. I think we have a ghost in the house we currently live in now. Not an ancient ghost...before we bought it, and the reason this house was sold was because it caught on fire. The elderly lady who lived here died, though I can't remember if it was in the actual fire or due to complications from the smoke. I'd add a story or two about why I believe this...but nasty shivers are creeping up my spine simply thinking about them, so I'll have to come back tomorrow during the daylight hours to add them. ^_^;

I'd have to say that I do believe in ghosts or apparitions to some extent. I don't necessarily believe some of the more "exotic" ghosts stories, so to speak, but I won't dismiss the possibility of unexplainable visions completely.

When my brother and I were younger, we were upstairs in our room watching television in the dark when I suddenly saw an image that I won't bother describing, fly towards us and suddenly disappear. Of course, I assumed that I was just seeing things and shook it off. But immediately thereafter, my brother stared at me wide-eyed and asked "Did you just see that?" And he described what I had seen perfectly. We then proceeded to run downstairs hollering and waving our arms trying to describe it. Needless to say, no one knew what the heck we were talking about and they didn't believe us. >.>

Such a thing has never happened again. Regardless, I still think about it sometimes and wonder if there was exactly some kind of meaning in what we saw; perhaps it was a sign. Then again, it could be a huge coincidence--we could have both hallucinated because of staring at the television in the dark. Who knows?

Oh, and there was that time I climbed out of the shower to see the initials "OA" on the clouded mirror, but nothing much came of that either.

I'll never believe in ghosts sliming people with protoplasm, or possessing people. Yet, it is the bees knees to know that there are instances when unexplainable events can occur and leave you wondering.

I do believe in ghosts. I believe they exist for many reasons.

1. I do a Ouija (on the Ouija) almost every week, and no matter what science says, I dont think that someone is moving it. One time I got a woman who was murdered by her husband and thrown into a lake. Soon afterwards, the Laci Peterson case became possible. She also mentioned that she had a baby, but I dont remember exactly what she said, it gave me the chills though.

2. When I was at girl scout camp one year, my friend and I were staying up real late talking and we saw someone at the door. She had a white nightgown on and had blonde hair. Her eyes were a glowing red color that scared us alot. She started walking towards us, and we both got scared. When she got real close to my bed (like, right next to it) I pulled my blanket up over my head. I stayed like that for a few minutes and then I peaked over the top. The outside of my blanket was ice cold and the girl was walking towards the exit. I never went to girl scout camp again. I dont even sleep with that blanket anymore because it scared me so much.

3. One day at my friends house, we were sitting in her basement and she stated staring into the corner. I asked her what was wrong and she started crying. She said she had seen her cat in the corner. Her cat had died almost five years ago. I didnt believe her at first, but when I went to the corner, I felt something cold brush against my leg and we both ran upstairs.

So, as you can see, I have many reasons that I believe in ghosts.

Just kidding, I wouldn't have that bad posting quality.. But some of the stories I hear are pretty stupid... I don't know.. The on'y "ghostly encounter" I've ever had was the other day I saw a white foot in the doorway, but I didn't really care as long as it wasn't hurting me... It only had 4 toes though 0_o... I didn't care though.. Meh.. I guess it could have been a "ghost" or just something else,. I dunno...

Actually I don't believe in ghosts. Every time you get a book from the library, and it's about ghosts it says Fiction. And plus when you die, I believe you go to heaven or hell, depending on who you are. You don't come back and haunt people. I don't believe in that.

It may feel like it but they're not really there. I do believe demons walk the earth, but I won't get into that. heh

I'm not sure what I believe. It's nice to think that when we die we do have somewhere to go, but more often than not there are scientific explanations for these things. I never bother watching these 'World's Most Haunted' any more (not that I really did in the first place) because I just think 'Oh, that's all to do with electromagnetic frequencies' and things like that.

It has been proven that in houses and rooms which people claim to be haunted, there are abmormal amounts of electromagnetic waves bouncing around and these can converge at a single point. If you stand on this point, you can experience strange phenomena such as seeing things.

Feng Shui has a scientific basis on this level- The Chinese knew that moving things around made things better or worse, depending on how you did it and this (without knowingly) may well have been to do with the various waves inside the room.

There was this woman who kept having these really horrible religious nightmares in which she kept seeing the end of the world and other things which can probably only be best matched by Urotsukidoji. After calling in a Feng Shui consultant they rearranged the room and she had no prblem. A scientific analysis of the room in its original position showed that the mirror along with various other items of furniture caused a standing wave where her pillow was, and when other people laid down there they said they experienced strange feelings too.

In a similar way, when a fencing master was holding a foil in a vice in the middle of his workshop (which was full of mirrors), he suddenly noticed the blade vibrating very quickly and very loudly. He assumed that there was a ghost in there, but when he moved the mirrors it stopped.

Often, what people say is a ghostly figure standing over a grave is Will 'o the Wisp: when flammable gases given off by the corpse are slowly ignited as they hit the air.

Having said that, I don't think anything can ever entirely be taken as entirely true or false. There may well be ghosts- I can't explain ghostly screams in 'haunted' castles or anything like that, but the human mind does like playing tricks on people sometimes.

Well, I did believe there where ghost before but Solo seems to have given things more logic. Even though there are thousands of ghost encounters every year, the wave thing does prove a powerful defense. But, there are thoughs cases which are very strange that no one can explain. Luckily, I've never had a ghost encounter, that would seriously spook me to death >>.

I think ghosts come in as many varied forms as people say aliens do. Some maybe are just random whisps, others choose to appear as they did before they died.

Also I think only a few people can truely see all the ghosts that there would be to see, with sporadic sightings by the general populus possible. Think about how old this land is, how many deaths there would be around and on this land. Ghosts should be in the plenty- but we cant see them whenever we want.

Thats the only plausible thing I can think of without adding in religion. lol.

I believe ghost's could exist but I never actually seen one. I have actually gone ghost hunting with friends to try and find one but no luck. The only thing paranormal that ever happens to me is it could be like 100 degrees outside or in a room and all of a sudden I will get a cold chill that runs down my spine and feel like something or someone is watching me from behind.

I myself believe in ghost's, and I will tell you my two little stories

1. Happend a while ago, not sure who it was, but it was in my first house where I am living now (in the same town). We had this really long hallway, like... 15 yeards straight o.o I was at one end of it, and I saw a white... "thing" go across the hall way from my sister's room to my parents room, and it was just like a flash or something. I know its not an animal though, because we didnt have any at this time

2. It was from where I am now, not too long ago. I have a computer in my room, in the corner, so when I look over my left shoulder I can see out into the house, one time, about.. 5:00 in the afternoon, I was alone in the house, and I glanced over my shoulder, and I saw a man, with a -BAD- expression on his face, and I knew he was there to hurt me or someone in my family, and in a matter of... 0.1 seconds I was up spinning around, pipe in hand from under the edge of my bed, chair knocked over from me getting up so fast, and the "person" was gone. Only way I can explain it really is it was "a ghost"...

*shrugs*

Well I have had a first hand experience with ghost . My family was house hunted about 6 years back, well we found the perfect house. We settled into but almost the day we started unpacking weird stuff started happening. This stuff went on for a while, my family blew it off as nothing , just were having trouble settling in but I sorta knew different. They changed there mind when the really freaky things started happening and then one day/night the scariest stuff went down. I'm not gonna say what but trust me, I'm not easily scared-even as a child and that scared the hell out of me. Well come to find out the realtors didn't tell us the house was haunted but in the end we found out several people comitted suicide in that house. Even though I saw what I saw, I'm still kinda sceptical about it, even though I can sorta sense when I'm not alone, when some one who ain't supposed to be there is in the room.
