Are there ghosts?

I definitely believe that ghosts exist, and I've also got a bit of a theory as to how they can interact with our physical reality.
A lot of people have heard that everything has a bio-magnetic/electric (not sure whatcha call it) field around/in their body, and these fields also exist around all objects. My theory is that, when we die, these fields (along with the energy formed/used by our emotions and by our nervous system so we can move), sometimes fractions, and sometimes the whole enchilada, remain behind when we die. And thus, a part of our self remains in this plane of existence. So, certain parts of us are still here, maybe we don't know we're dead, maybe we do, but we interact with our environment. Ghosts might interact with objects by their electromagnetic fields expanding to come in contact with another object's E.M. field, move it, etc.

I don't know if I explained it well, or if I'm even right, but that's my theory. I do believe in ghosts.

According to Quantam Mechanics (just saying that word makes me feel sooo smart. Even if I can't spell it right) ghosts exist in another plane of existance, and everyonce in a while, we can see these ghosts. That is why they can walk through walls and why they cant really "touch" people(usually, people just feel really cold) because they are in a sort of parallel universe type place. Ghosts often are found in places where great emotional or mental stress was placed on that person, such as war grounds, or the house that person was murdered in.

Oooo! Cool! Can you PM it to me!? Please! Lol.

Back on Topic: I do beleive in Ghosts. Ina different way. I beleive that heaven is a paralell universe to ours. Except covered in gold. So when you see a ghost it's pretty much a glitch or something like that. Like wat RPGchick said that's why they can't touch you. And why we can't walk through walls when they can. Alot like RPGchick said Ghosts are usually found near places with emotional stress. I think Ghosts are actually Angels. In Plokoons stories the ghosts only appeared for a split second. That's because it was a glitch. Your not ment to see them. That's what I think at least. Now I am a christian and I'm not saying Heaven is actually a Paralell universe. I'm saying it looks the same as ours. Sometimes in the ghost world. When we are sleeping or not paying attention to anything. Usually when we are daydream. We might appear in the ghost world for a split second and freak them out. That might be why when your friend says something though you deny hearing it. It's probably because you were in a different universe. Either that or you weren't paying attention. :P

I am pretty sure that what you guys call ghosts are not really the spirits of dead people. They are created (often in the form of dead loved ones) by Satan to scare you, confuse you, and make you feel unsafe. I was taught to, whenever I see one of these, just say,"Begone! In the name of Jesus Christ!" and that will make them go away. They are no big deal; nothing to be afraid of.

Umm. Technically if it was a demon it would not leave in the name of Christ, it would leave in the name of either "Jehovah" or "Yahweh"- They fear God's name, not Jesus. Also demons, if it was one, cannot even HAVE a set form [IE in the form of a loved one] because as they fell to Earth they lost the ability to manfiest completely, therefore they would only appear in the form of a mist.

Also, Demons most likely would not appear at all- they would talk to you, or possess you but not appear simply because they are angered over their loss of manifestation.

Also I bet they are something to be afraid of, because not all demons go away with the muttering of God's name- some are so stalwart they dont care, and all you would do is infuriate them to the point that they would hurt you mentally. lol.

Anyway, lets keep on topic from now on.. just had to nuke your religiousness like I do with all the others. =)

Of course I believe in ghosts! Why wouldn't I? I also believe in wandering spirits. According to my beliefs, ghosts are memories of those who died, and they can talk to living things telepathically. Sometimes, if you try hard enough, they can also be faintly seen. The same goes for wandering spirits. According to my beliefs, each living thing has three spirits, and they leave the thing's body when it dies. Then, the spirits travel to newborn babies, forming new living things. Sometimes, it can take quite a long time to find a body, so the spirits wander about, searching for a new home. These spirits can be of any race. In some cases they were called "pookas" if they looked like animals. But that's pretty weird...

I understand what you are saying DeathNight, but I wasn't referring to demons. I was talking about harmless images made solely to scare you or confuse you. And I was just saying that a lot of people think that these are the spirits of their dead loved ones when really they are nothing of the sort.

Demons I'm sure are a whole different story, but I don't know much about them.

And where does it ever talk about that in the Bible or anywhere else? It never mentions Satan doing that, lol. Its most likely just propoganda that the church has been produceing for the last 1000 years, please. *snorts* Ghosts and such DO exist- If Satan wanted to confuse and deter people from 'the faith' then he could come up with much better ways. He has the power of a Cherubim, and the intelligence of any of the angels intially created by God.

I just cant bring myself to believe that the crafty Dragon represented in Revelation would have such a basic way of leading astray Christians, lol. Lets NOT turn this into a religious debate- You will remain on your path, and I will remain on mine.

I will now post this, and say nothing else regarding religion in this topic- that alone has closed many threads, and I will not let myself get any more out of league than this..

I find it hard to believe in the existance of ghosts. I have seen an image of something, from a paranormal existance, a long time ago, when I was 10, if I remember correctly. This still doesn't make it any easier for me to put my belief towards ghosts forward. For all you curious people, I'll briefly explain my story- the thing is, I'm having trouble myself believing it actually happened.

I had just finished playing my Saturday sport, at the time, cricket. I got in the car with mum, and went home. Usually when I got home after playing weekend sport, I'd go and lay down for a while. For some reason, I had the sudden urge to go into the kitchen. I dropped my cricket bag, with all my gear in it, and actually started running to the kitchen. Mum was in the kitchen, so she said.

I got to the end of the hallway, and went down the footstep. As soon as my rght foot landed on the floor below the footstep, I was overcome by a blinding flash. Not a white flash. A black flash. Though it was so blinding. And I could see into it. It was like a different world. I squinched my eyes as the black light was so blinding, and looked into it.

I was walking around in darkness. I could hear screams. Noises. I could see noises. Being sucked into a warp or something. Except it to, was black. I could feel a pull on me. Like I was being stretched. I fell, and landed with a loud noise. It echoed. The noise I created when I fell, seemed to distract the world I was in. I could hear and see the sounds and noise getting more wild, and moving more rapidly. The were all swarming around into one space.

Then I fell. Again. I saw the noises disappear, though I could hear them getting closer. They got so close. So close. It was like I was in them. I shielded myself from them, and I felt as if I was being pushed. Pushed against them.

I turned, and seen the world I came from. I saw the kitchen, and I seen me. Standing there. Standing in the hallway. Just standing there, looking at nothing. I saw mum, she was busy at the counter. I was in another dimension, looking into mine. I started to run, and it started to get closer. I ran faster. Faster. Then it all went.

I stood there in the hallway. Looking at the wall across the room. Nothing was there. I couldn't walk. I couldn't breathe. I fell. Mum came running into the hallway and helped me up. She had to help me walk. She sat me down on the couch, and with a glass of water. I drank it. It felt like it was going straight through me. Like I just walked through a wall or something. I couldn't cut it. I cracked.

I was at the hospital for 3 weeks. Apparently, I had head conjestion. Usually with head conjestion, your ears, nose, throat are all blocked, and it's hard not to be dizzy, as it's hard to breathe. My ears, nose, and throat were fine. I could breathe perfecty now. They said I had bleeding down the back of my throat which was going into my lungs. Though they couldn't identify whether the bleeding was from a cut, bruise, abrasion. It was like it was leaking from the skin, so they said. Anyway, they gave me pills and an antibiotic, and it was all gone within a few days after being released from hospital.

Head conjestion is supposed to last for 4 or 5 days. Mine lasted for 3 and a half weeks. I recalled what had happened. I remember seeing an image of a young boy playing with a toy train under a large tree. It stands out like nothing else. It's like the reason it all happened. It still scares me when I think about it. This is how it happened to me. As far as I can remember. I can't even tell if it was a dream. Another world. Something that was meant to happen. It all confuses me. I don't even believe it myself.

People who see ghosts are usually weird, wide-eyed freaks. *glances at Charles*

Ahem.

I can't believe in ghosts. Because believing in ghosts would raise the possibility that Sadako exists. And if she existed...there would be no hope for me.

John Edward heard that, and he's ready to channel the power of the undead he speaks with on a daily basis and come through the screen just like Sadako to give you a paranormal knuckle sandwich.

This man represents the fact that ghosts visit perfectly normal people all the time and are able to sit down for a lovely little chat, as well.

Yes, I do believe in ghosts. Mainly because of how I was brought up. On my dad's side of the family, my grandmother was a medium. My father has many articles and informational snippets on what she did, and from what I see and hear, it's true. The fact that my dad was with her once when she was talking with a misty man adds to it.

Where as on my mother's side of the family, her family is Ojibway, one of the tribes of Native American Indians in the area. My grandmother on mom's side believes in spirits, and she has quite a few of her own tales about them. I personally dislike to call the Spirits "ghosts." It makes it feel to me like they're all labelled as evil and dark. When from what I know, they mostly aren't.

I could go on and maybe even tell my own stories, but it's not worth it. I believe what I believe. I'm not going to waste my time trying to conform other people or "wow" them. O_o

o_O Wow, Fall, that gave me chills down my spine...

Perhaps that was not the world of spirits, but hell...

The kid with the toy.. That sounds like something from The Ring.

..Head congestion led to that..? Wow.. Well, to be scientific, it's possible that for some reason the blood was in your lungs and you started to be unable to breath. (The bleeding is very mysterious..) Then maybe, due to lack of oxygen, you hallucenated..

But I just said that to keep myself from freaking out.. Wow that's scary..

I don't believe in ghosts so much as I believe in aliens. Here's my take on Aliens.
I believe in Aliens entirely. I mean a whole universe with one of it's smallest planets and that's the only one containing life? All this stuff facinates and interests me! ;)

I know this is just a knockoff of the aliens thread.. But there's all those other supernatural quandaries out there.. ^_^ So why not make a thread about ghosts?

This one can't be disclosed as easily with science as aliens though. (But heck, the truth about aliens still is far from being solved..) I think the only way you can say you believe in ghosts is if you've had a hands-on experience with them or know someone who has.. (Or if you're a Shaman like Yoh Asukara, but I won't get into that)

I think that ghosts exist.. I've always felt strange in old places... And I'm always seeing things out of the corner of my eye in those places.. Of course, that may be the schitzophrenia (spelling?) talking...

So, I think:

*whispers* I see dead people.
*Sighs* Thats what the Ghost Busters are for.

But truthfully, I think there are supernatural presences that our world can't comprehend. Possibly beings that have passed on, or maybe an alternate reality, where they're trying to break through the barrier. Just a guess.

I don't however believe in cloaked transparent things that go "bump" in the night. Thats just ridiculous.

I believe in ghost, but I like to call them Phantoms....I don't think their out to hurt anybody like people make it seem because they haven't done anything to me...yet. Ghost are cool, it's demons that I worry about...Hehehe, okay I've scared myself......

I guess my love for the Nightmare Before Christmas plays a part in my likeness to Phantoms/ghost. Also the Search Ghost and the Phantom from KH sparked my interest even more. Not to mention those old cartoons with ghost in 'em....

I do not believe in ghosts.

I believe that when you die, your body stops functioning, but your mind does not. By mind I don't mean the chemical processes that give emotion, or the memory sector... I mean the non physical, almost spiritual mana people have inside them.
You cannot use any of your senses, and you simply float there, inside your own head, waiting until your body rots away in the ground. Then, when your mind has no vessal to communicate within, it ceases to exist also. Or perhaps it doesn't... perhaps it remains in the one position, regardless of how the environment changes around it... it would explain a few things. That takes years, of course, and fifty or so years suspended in complete oblivion can do strange things to a mind. Perhaps we are warped into such horrid, disfigured entities when we return to the earth that we send out bad energy... the stuff that makes people cry when they watch your grave, and miss you when you die. The stuff that makes people silent and respectful in cemetaries.

This is all assuming that such a thing as a non-physical mind exists. But it's a severely depressing thought.

I believe in "ghosts" or "spirits" because of one reason.Ive been in many encountors with them. But i dont feel like writing alot of them. ill speak of only one..and one of my most scariest.here it goes..

My father was(not anymore for unknown reasons)a novelists. He wanted to write a scarry book and wanted to find a place to feel the terror for himself, and since he knew i loved this kind of stuff,he took me with.I dont remeber where it was,but we went to a "haunted" mansion.(this place was very old and rotting so some places we couldnt go because the ceiling fell or something)As we just got inside,in an entery way,i saw a peice of paper.Of course,as a curious child,i walked over to it and bent down to pick it up.and as i reached for it,my father said,to go this way and forget watever i was doing.I looked back ad saw the paper dissapeared.I thought it must of blew away and went on with my father. We opened this door and walked into a long hall way with a mirror on the other side of the hallway farest from us.We started to walk down twords the mirror and i swear i saw someone walk by.Of course,my dad didnt see it and he only herd faint foot steps which be said was probloy our echo.I belived him..and thought my mind was playing tricks on me.So we went on.we came to the mirror and i looked in it.I saw behind us a person in a long black cloak with designs all over it.The designs were red.I screamed quietly and my father,i guess saw it too.He picked me up and he ran into the next room.We sat there scared so he decided to record some of what we saw for his story.Went i looked around with the flash light,i herd foot steps.I look around but i saw no one.All i saw was the room,a grandfather clock, stairs, and 2 other doors. Then i felt cold.I looked at the stairs and saw someone walking up them.It was a man with a white shirt and black pants. He kept walking up the stairs and dissapeared on the next floor.I told my father and he agreed that we should go up.And we did.I went and saw nothing but another door and another hallway. We went to the oher side of the room and i turned around and so did my father.I swear i saw a horrible man,not like the on befor, right in front of us,he was paleish white and had a weird face. His face was burnt and sort of disformed. My father saw it too..and we ran.But this story takes forever and i wont type what i remember now cause it would take way too long..and of course we do get out of that mansion but we find out it was a house that was owned by some family that was in some cult and we also found out that the owner killed almost everyone in his "cult family".My father and I havent spoken of it since.

Thats part of my story.Interesting huh? Well, its all true.I swear.

Although I have never seen a ghost. I do believe in them (I'm also superstisious so I got one of my cats mid way through reading the thread.)
My theory for ghosts is as follows: You cannot destroy energy only change its form. I have seen aura photographs before and I believe that the energy inside us that creates these auras remain after we die.
The fact that only some people see ghosts I think is because some people recognise the energy and so their mind (hoping to better understand) creates an image of the said apperition depending on memories and the "feel" of the entity. Just my thoughts and that would also explain why many people who have seen one have seen anouther.

Shudders (my cat's gone now...) creepy

well, yes i do belive in spirits, my mom even says i have telepathy (sp?), or i can read minds, see spirits, and some other stuff that sometimes i wish i didnt have. i have three main stories to tell here:

first one (the more kinda understaning one): well, about four years ago our family cat died, smartest cat we ever knew. (we hadta put her down) well, now every once and awhile any of us at any given time will see a flash of white outa the corner of our eye (she was white, duh), sometimes i will even hear her meow, because i still remember the diffence between the two cats' meows. a lot of times ill even wake up at night and see a white blurr sitting in my room, but then ill fall right back to sleep. i miss her and in some ways i think she'll never leave us until we join her or something like that. my mom belives that shes either waiting for me or her, because she says that shes like "my gaudian" in some ways.

well, the second creepyier one: at my aunts at a christmas party we were all sitting in the family room when the lamp on the end table started shaking, we all stared at it-stunned. then it started to move off the table, we were all so stunned we diodnt get up to stop it. when it fell off the one little fake candle holder on it was bent. no every time i go over there i see it and it always sends a chill down my spine.

the last: a lot of times ill be so chilly that i swear that someone is following me-especially when i go to bed. so i get so scared of this fact that ill go to take the night light from the bathroom to make me go to sleep or else ill be so afraid of whatever it is that ill shake. i know this may sound like im a wuss, but its so dang creepy

i have so many other creepy ones that i cant remember-or dont wish to remember-that id love to tell but this post is to long
