The relationship between Legato and Knives?

It's been a while since I've started a thread, so I've decided to start a new topic kind of in celebration of the return of Trigun to the CN schedule

So what do you think is the depth of the relationship between Legato and Knives? I wanted to ask this a while back but I kept forgetting to ask.

Well, I think that Legato definately likes Knives in a more than friends/normal master/servant way...However, I think that how much and what type of abnormal like this is can be differently interperted. I do have to say, I am a big fan of Legato/Knives, but as I said, there are many different ways for their relationship to be interpereted.

I'm NOT a fan of LxK. . .nor am I a shonen ai/yaoi fan at all (as my banner used to mean, you know the canon couples one that I lost when trying to replace it with a banner for my site?)

However, I'm wondering if, especially in the manga, LxK was actually canon, as a kind of (IMHO mindless) fanservice, especially since fanservice in this series, on the rare occasions it occurs, is usually directed to the female audience almost as much as to the male audience.

I believe Legato is just a devoted follower of Knives and his mission.
Legato must have had been the victim of something tragic and lost all hope in humanity.
Maybe that is why he agrees with Knives' veiws on humanity, and why he follows him.

One sided religious devotion for sure. Even though Legato knew that Knives hated all of humanity, he still worshipped him like a god. Legato bought into Knives' stuff about him being a higher being and was really obsessed with the arm that Knives gave him. Of course, Knives does not share the same devotion. I think Knives hated Legato just as much as he hated any other human, regardless of his powers.

I think that it is Knives taking advantage of Legato's powers and merely faking friendship in order to do so.The reason why I think so is because Knives isn't a
mobile plant and he is probably too weak to get at Vash himself.
He is probably just using Legato until he grows stronger.

I would say Legato sort of "worships" Knives. He even goes as far as hating his own species(human) and wanting to kill them all because he believes like Knives, that plants are superior to humans. So he probably wouldn't see himself good enough to be in any romantic relationship with Knives. Knives doesn't really care much for Legato because Legato is human. Knives was laughing after the scene where
Vash kills Legato.
He just sees Legato as another one of those humans.

Soooooo... I don't see much more than worshipping goin' on there. Not even friendship. More like a slave/master relationship in my opinion.

That's just the way I interpret it though. Someone else might see something different.

I think its that Legato sees Knives as a God of sorts and follows him. Thats why he calls him his master. He also seems to think that Knives ha a sort of releigion that humanity must die, tha tLegato agrees with.

I think it is just a common understanding between the two. They are both out for the same goal (destruction of humans), so they joined forced to complete it faster. It also seems to me that they planned to torment Vash in the hope of driving him mad and making him believe that Knives was right about humans.

Now that i think of it. Knives could be trying too get Vash too hate humanity and get a fetish for killing by sending the Gung-Ho Guns on him. Knives probavly thinks that by sending the Guns who will fight too the death, he can make Vash kill them and start killing others. S otoo like drive him insane. Its all kinda complicated.

I think it's definately a one-sided shounen/ one-sided religious thing. I don't think Knives could ever love, not to mention love humans, which are the beings that he hates so much. Legato seemed completely devoted to Knives, and Knives was most probably just using him.

In that fact, I actually sympathize for Legato sometimes. In the anime, I don't beleive it drops any reasons for us to beleive that Legato and Knives is an official couple. But many people take the idea and run with it.

They are both intelligent, and i would find it hard to believe that its a one sided deal. Legato and Knifes share a common bond. Witch i dont think this bond was forced on one or another. I would hate to think Legato is that easy to give into someone else. So I dident vote for
"One-sided religious devotion by Legato (i.e., he thought Knives was a god or a guru or something)" *witch is geting 39% of the votes now.
I think it is a Mutual relationship between both Legato and Knifes. Both using their powers to rain down on Vashs happy go lucky life.
Poor Vashy :(

Legato is scum to Knives, Legato worships knives since Legato believes Knives to be a higher being than himself. This belief is shared by Wolfwood's Cult the Michael's Eye, and Knives thinks nothing of Legato except another human with a useful ability. Knives explicitly states in the manga that "This is his ability. I was going to use him because he was useful for shutting up those who get in the way but...." the reference is made to Legato, and he says this to Vash in front of Legato. I think this proves that its religious devotion.
