future girl
has anyone heard her???? i never hear anyone talk about her and i think she's great, icelandic soul siren. she has a wonderful voice, it very raw and yet soft and almost caressing. i think it's awe inspiring the way it can match almost any backgorund from a string quartet to hard industrial sounds, i think it's amaznig what she can do with her voice, i love her. anyone else??? any opininons??? XeEmO
Well, my friend bought one of her CDs and we listened to it in the car on the way home. Personally I thought it was pretty weird. Not only was it weird though, it just wasn't my kind of music. From what I can remember it is quite original, and very different sounding. (hopefully i'm not remembering wrong) That's what the music industry needs more of these days. Instead we get all that crap they play on the radio. It all sounds the same, and it's all really bad. That's why I get mad when I ask someone if they've heard of such and such a band and they tell me they only listen to the radio or something. Manic Webb
My cousin has nearly all of her albums. She's entertaining, to say the least. I don't exactly love her songs, but I don't hate them either. Her music is really unique, and her music videos are amazing. I have no idea what Icelandic sounds like, so I have no idea if she's rambling incoherently or singing in Icelandic half the time (I hear she does both randomly). Juu
I love Bjork's voice, and her music videos are great. She's so pretty, too, and I wish we got to see her a little more often. ...At least at some music awards. That swan dress was really cute. ^^ I like her name, too. Bjork. *says it over and over*
James
Bjork's a little crazy (and a little liberal with her fists), but hey, it adds to the charm. ^_^ I'm not a fan of her music in general, but some of her music videos are very captivating. And there are certain songs that can really grab your interest, if only because they sound so different to other stuff out there. But generally, I don't find Bjork to be as talented as many suggest. Sometimes her songs are kind of like the answer to a question that nobody asked. o_O
Shinmaru
I'm not really much of a Bjork fan, but I don't hate her either. But I will say this: her videos are some of the most amazingly weird (in a good way, that is) videos I've ever seen. You just can't take your eyes off of them (though not in the bad, train-wreck kind of way).
treton_noir
Bjork is rad-daddy as crap. i hadn't ever heard a lot of her stuff until my friend, Cameron, gave me her "Homogenic" album. her music is so absorbing. i like it a lot.
Originally posted by treton_noir Bjork is rad-daddy as crap.
OK, I really have to ask, what does that mean? I don't listen to Bjork's music, but I do remember watching a movie with her in it (or at least parts of it). I believe it was called Dancer In the Dark . It was really depressing and boring if I recall.
Semjaza
treton_noir is apparently just a big fan of Wesley Willis. I have no real opinion on Björk. That's quite a rare thing heh.
future girl
I saw Dancer in the Dark and that movie is just plain sad, i don't think boring though, she gave a good performance in my oppinion. the director said the same, but that he would NEVER work with her again. too many tantrums. i like Björk, but i have to admit her dress at the acadamy awards i did not like. although, she wears the same dress on the cover of her Vespertine album and it looks a lot better. i guess, when you actually see her moving and stuff with it on it just sorta reminds me of a dead and skinned swans *shrug* anyway, i think Björk is great, but then again she has her moments. i think some of her songs set the mood for depression and there are songs of hers that really don't fit into any of my moods. there are A LOT of unreleased songs and the Icelandic ones that Americans haven't heard of, those are often times the best. *nods* Better No???? Evisoun
I don't like her music, at all. She is an interesting person, though.
