FIRST OF ALL: DONT LOOK IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEATEN THE GAME. THERE ARE MAJOR SPOILERS IN HERE!!!

Okay. A long time ago when I was on the PlayOnline boards, we came across this theory that Sorsoress Ultimacia was actually Rinoa. Before you go and immediately wonder what kind of drug I am on, consider this. Ultimacia's castle is in that feild where Squall told Rinoa that he would wait for her. I confused myself to death wondering how that would be, sice I had Rinoa with me when I beat Ultimacia, and then I remebered about the time depression. Since at the end of the game, Squall was in that one dark place and he was separated from everyone, I believe that he was in a different dimension sort of place.

I have had heated arguments with my friends about weather or not Squall died at the end of the game. When we see Rinoa, she smiles at someone, but when it shows the garden from far away, you cannot see anyone on the balcony. Therefore, I think that because Squall was trapped in the other dimension (which Rinoa somehow escaped from. hey she is a sorceress, anything could happen) Rinoa went to the feild to wait for him to come back.

There are other reasons I think that Rinoa and Sorceress Rinoa are one and the same. And they are really good. But I cant quite remember them right now. I am trying to get in touch with some of the people that I talked about it with and I will get back to you guys on them.

I know it sounds like I should put the controller down and get a life(which I probably do) but when you hear all of the reasons, it is kind of creepy.

As I understood it, Rinoa is another link in a line of sorceresses (Ultimecia-Adel-Edea-Rinoa), but that doesn't make her the exact same person. Though I also recall that there were quite alot time-jump plottwists in the game (like the Laguna & co.-sequences).

I don't remember much of the game, since it's been a few years since I played it, and I only played it until Ultimecia's castle, so I really don't know how the game ended - just heard pieces from here and there.

Like all FF-games, the plot was very twisted - thus making it confusing yet interesting - so there are incalculable amount of different theories you can make from it. Your theory, RPGchick, is good, but it's very unlikely. How should Rinoa just turn evil when she grows up, not to mention return to her past to kill herself? :smirk:

I disagree with you to the full, and I will justify my reasons.

First of all, I'd like to state that Ultimecia's Castle had no link to Rinoa's doing whatsoever. As you specifically state, it is in another dimension, if Rinoa was Ultmecia, she would be in a trance at taht specific time period, hence making it obvious that there is no link to the location.

I can see why you feel Rinoa is Ultimecia as the events that occur of her 'posession' seem to be only of another sorceresses's doing. However, in the ending you even contradicted yourself saying that Rinoa 'escaped' from the dimension. This thus explains why Rinoa would be placed there, however, if I am not mistaken, I remember it being stated that all sorceresses have a connection between them as the bloodline is mixed into time. Hence, the Depression of Time, making Rinoa in a mellow trance.

The fact that Rinoa smiles, it would be unexplainable seeing as you state correctly that it is confusing.

I'm sorry, I felt like debating. A good side of view by the way.

Actually, at the end of the game, Squall does NOT die.--If you wait til the very end, you'll see Rinoa pointing up again, then the screen turns to Squall, who smiles, walks up to her, and *kiss*

Sorry, I didn't put spoilers around that since this thread obviously states there will be some in here.^^() This little bit of information doesn't really disprove your Rinoa/Ultimecia theory, but it does explain that Rinoa does NOT wait for a dead Squall.--

I agree strongly with Mei. Watch the end of the end.

Ultimecia possesed Rinoa. They're not one. Besides, if Rinoa wanted a dead Squall, Ultimecia would somehow make herself mad and channel all her powers to Rinoa. Which equals to deadly destruction. Or when Rinoa was kidnapped by Seifer and used her energy to power up Adel, Ultimecia puts all her power into Adel, making her a monsterous powerhouse, thus destroying Squall & Co lol.

Squall didn't die at the end. He was knocked out/unconcious. Then Rinoa came to his rescue and woke him up. Then the credits roll. In the end of the credit picture, it show Squall and Rinoa at the balcony. THen at the end of the end, it shows like Mei described *smooch smooch*
