Anemia?

OK, got the scare of my life today.

As some of my AIM buddies know, I've been going to bed earlier and earlier the last few weeks. Constant complaints of being tired. Two weeks ago, I kept getting headaches, dizzy spells, and feeling light headed. Last week, one of my co-workers scared me when she told me I looked extremely pale. I swore to her I'd go see the doctor.

But I didn't.

Today, I was in the middle of my lunch shift at Chili's; since ToGo (my section) wasn't all that busy, I decided to help the servers carry trays. I hadn't felt dizzy or anything, so I decided I was ok, didn't need to see the doctor, go on with life as usual. The last thing I remember was feeling really really light headed again as I picked up a heavy tray. I yelled for help, thought I was going to drop the tray on myself, and...well, after that, I don't remember the exact details, but I remember sitting down, head between my legs, all that stuff. Scared my managers, my parents, and myself bad. (They say I fainted or collapsed, or something. All I could get out of them for sure is that I freaked them out.)

Now that I don't have an excuse to avoid the doctor :p (bad joke, sorry), I'm wondering what'll happen now. Several people think I have anemia, which is a lack of iron in the blood, if I've researched correctly? I'd like to know who here has it, how they've dealt with it, etc. I don't know yet if I have it or not, but I'd like to know what I might be expecting in the future.

According to some random dictionary or another:

anemia:

noun
a pathological deficiency in the oxygen-carrying component of the blood, measured in unit volume concentrations of hemoglobin, red blood cell volume, or red blood cell number.

My doctor also told me, i have a decreasing ammount of iron in my blood, but it's not dangerous yet.

Definitely consult the doctor and have them do some tests to see if it's just that your body is producing less red-blood cells than it should be. You might have to take some supplements or medication to boost production so your body gets the O2 it needs. Also, there also might be some underlying diseases that cause Anemia so make sure to ask about that too.

I've already told Gin this, but I've also had dizzy spells and stuff before.

Last summer I even passed out, and hit the stove at my grandma's house. Hit my head...or knee...or something. I can't remember.

And often, when I stand up especially, my vision will get hazy, and I'll usually shut my eyes to shake off the fuzzyness-ish thing. But sometimes it lasts really long, and sometimes I even pass out.

Perhaps I have this anemia thing. Heh. It reminds me of aenema.

I was told that I had anemia once, but that ended up being a complete and total lie. I do get the dizzy spells, the blurry vision, etc that go along with anemia, but apparently my iron count is perfect. +shrug+

I too hate the doctor's so I'm avoiding it for as long as possible.

Feel better! Anemia isn't so bad... My mum and her mum both had it, and like anatema said, all you usually need is an iron pill. Not so bad.

-Ness, head rush!
