wild thang
well, todays the 4th of july and, of course the big thing is fireworks. unfortunately, here in north carolina all the good fireworks are illegal. no roman candles, firecrackers, cherrybombs, or anything that explodes, which i think really sucks. whats worse, south carolina and tennessee, 2 of the bordering states, have legalized fireworks and since i live about 45 minutes from the nearest store and my parents wont take me there, im bummed. so for all you people out there who can use good fireworks, let me know what state you live in and what you think about fireworks so i can move to your state.  :blowingup :blowingup
Guest Chris
hmm . . . this seems like another on of those 'which state do you live in?' threads, seeings as how you aren't really planing on moving (i'm not that lucky). this thread will probably be closed soon, but whatever. nevada has some pretty good ones. so does mexico. heh, too bad i hate fireworks.
Transtic Nerve
deffinantly not in Florida... lol. Only cause a few years back we had all those fires and well yeah.... but it's rained the last 4 days so I don't think any fires are happening this year.... regardless, any morters or big kaboom fireworks are a no no here, even though every year, everyone on the block ends up getting them. Terpischore
Well, I live in Texas and people have been blowing fireworks left and right...even last night i heard them! So i believe that they are legal in Texas...but I don't think that it really matters anymore...people do it anyway....I was in Florida once and they did it...I was in Iowa and they did it...so i really don't think that illegalizing (is that a word?!) fireworks stops people from doing it. wild thang
people have em around here too, but theyre not really that good. they just shoot sparks everywhere.
XeEmO
I live in Maine, and there illegal here. My dang nabors shoot them off every year though. When my dog was still alive he hated fireworks. Well I guess he hated just about every loud noise (ie. thunder, loud music). But he would still get very upset whenever they shot them off. He would jump up onto your lap (he was a 90lb golden...yeah you get the idea). I wonder if they would get fined if I called the police. Hmm I just might try that later ^_^. Fall
All fireworks are banned here, aswell as buying them. Yet in the ACT, the state inside NSW, you can buy firworks, as they're not illegal to buy there. You can't use them though. Even though my dad knows a few people up in Canberra, from who he gets his fireworks from every year, we can't use them anymore. They've been illegal for ages, though we used to have a bonfire every year and let them all off, as you can use them for yourself on private property. Now with all this "legal crisis" and liabilities and ****, we can't even do that. People complain that police ruin everything, when it's just themselves who make the police watch for them. If they don't.. they might get sued. Heh. **** that.

Well... it's quite illegal here. But that didn't stop me from taping three Mammoth Smoke bombs together and dropping them down the sewer. It was very cool. heh... Roxie Faye
Two and three years ago, my mom and I would go to the Pocanos a week or so before or after July 4th, because our friends own a house up there and they let us stay there. So anyways, there's about a billion roadside stands up there for fireworks, so I suppsoe they're legal in Pennsylvania. LOL. We bought lots of sparklers (you can't even use them in NJ, I don't think!) and these magenta like things called Morning Glories which were really pretty. They're a bigger version of sparklers, but they're cool. So, we usually light those in NJ, even though we're not supposed to. lol. It's not like anyone would know. (unless our elderly neighbor who has no life decides to spy on us.. ¬.¬)

You're Aussie, you should know that. Hehe Anyway, it doesn't surprise me that you can buy fireworks in the ACT. You can also buy X-rated movies in Canberra and nowhere else. Another example of politicians saving the best for themselves? lol I'm not sure if they're legal in Victoria or not...but I've certainly heard/seen people use them in the country areas. Although I personally think it's insane in some areas, because bushfires are a MAJOR problem in Australia generally. They can be highly devistating...and considering that one of our worst fires was merely caused by someone throwing a cigarette out of their car window...well, you get the idea. But I'm not really against people using them generally. Only in the bush/country areas, where there's a huge firehazard. So I wouldn't be surprised if they're illegal in this state, but I really don't know. o_O
OlgaTheDwarf
Originally posted by Chris nevada has some pretty good ones. so does mexico.
Yep, you can get just about any kind of firecracker in Mexico. But, you don't always get what you buy, sometimes it's just a stick of dynamite wraped up to look like a firecracker. Anyway, firecrackers aren't illegal in my state(CA), but they are very illegal in the county I live in.
PloKoonDS
Yeah, Olga is right. ***** County sucks when it comes to fireworks. My mother's boss got my and my bro some HUGE fire works, and "oh no, fire works in the hands of some one under the age of 40!!! They are gonna blow something up!" ....... WHY THE HECK DID YOU GIVE ME THE FIREWORKS AND MAKE THEM LEGAL IF IM NOT ALLOWED TO USE THEM?!?!?! Any who, that is just a wee-bit of my frustration. Another problem is You cant use them in the town that I live in, but you can 30 minutes away, IF you pay $56 for a permit or something, and have a fire man there to watch for a fire from what your doing -_-;; Any who, here is some bogus mathmetical equations for you all... *sp* Fireworks = fun Fireworks + Soda Cans = Make shift rockets Fire Works + 3 table spoons of lighter fluid x empty plastic soda bottle = Make shift Molotov with a fuse Fire Works + extension fuse + lots of gunpowder from poppers (wrapped in tinfoil) = make shift hand grenade You know... now that I think of it... I shouldnt have access to fireworks LoL Plo Koon

Actually, fireworks are illegal in some of the most remote places of Texas, but luckily there are some places we can go. The thing is, my family doesn't feel like driving 50 miles out just to shoot firecrackers off, so I just sneak out and do it at night :) Anyway, the Texas Rangers baseball stadium here in arlington always has an amazing fireworks exhibition. They spend millions of dollars and the grand finales are truly great, the ground shakes even outside of the stadium. It's something my family does every year, we go and watch the fireworks at the stadium, but this year whilst I was driving home, there were many civilians launching professional fireworks. Not anything small like Roman Candles or Black Cats, but humongous fireworks like the stadium was showing, the kind that cost about $300 a piece. All last night in my area I was hearing them as well. I snuck out to get my friend at about 1 AM (and the firecrackers were still going strong), but he brought the wrong fireworks with him. He was supposed to bring a strand of Raging Tigers (just like Black Cats but a little stronger), but he only brought like 5 individual ones which aren't worth the trouble. Today we're going to go find a good area to shoot off his artillery shells. You have to have about 50 feet of open space in every direction. No grass, trees, buildings, just dirt or cement. It's going to be hard to find a place like that, but we're going exploring for it today.
Booboo
I'm pretty sure most are legal here in Maryland, since they had a huge firework show yesterday. But some fire works are illegal here (not sure which kind though).
Guest Chris
well, charles, you can always sneack out an set some off. if you get arrested, just bllame it on karle(sp?). i don't see the point, i really don't like fireworks. heh, whatever.
Terpischore
I just asked my mom about it - and it's illegal inside city limits (in Dallas) unless you have an organization do it like a park or the baseball stadium or something.
