eleanor
Just a thought...When you read a thread, what makes you reply or not reply? It makes me think a lot when I see about 70 views, and no replies.
SadClown
Depends on whether or not I feel strongly enough about the topic to want my opinion heard, or whether I have any interest about whats being discussed to add my two cents...

stardust
I always wondered that too,hmmmmmm........ Well,I usually reply if somebody says something I strongly disagree with or I have a major personal experience I just couldn't live without telling the otaku peeps, lol. Imp
Usually I just reply to whatever sounds interesting, but when in the Adventure Arena in the Recruitment section, I mostly reply to threads with very few posts. I don't like crowded RPGs because they usually go too quickly.
Nate
hmmm.... On rpgs: I like the topic in the anime forums: I can answer a question or help somebody.... in the first forum set: I like thwe topic/i can answer easily/i disagree with what's said/i agree with what's said. Guest dayday
You mean since over 50 people have looked at this and under 10 answered. Maybe if someone said what they were going to or if they're just not interested in it. Other than that someone might be behind them and they don;t want them to know what they're really on. AzureWolf
The primary reason I wouldn't post is either: what I was going to say has already posted, or if I don't think anything good will come from what I'll say. I usually do read every post on a thread that I start reading, just for the sake of consistency, and if I think I can contribute something to the discussion, I do. Otherwise, I just watch. :)
Rhys Mayiessen
Lol sometimes I don't reply because I just don't feel like it or the thread is waaaaaayyy too long to read and I don't usually feel like reading something on the internet. Usually though its cause I either like the thread and feel like I have a good response or I don't like the thread and I don't have a good response...
Shinmaru
The only reasons I wouldn't reply to a topic is if it didn't interest me or if I didn't have anything new to add to the discussion. But I did reply to this topic, so I guess that doesn't happen all the time lol.
Sara
Originally posted by dayday You mean since over 50 people have looked at this
Not necessarily. Views go up when the same person looks at the thread more than once, as well. If you read a thread every time there's a new reply, you're doubling the views right there. Seventry views and no replies? *shrugs* It often seems that if someone doesn't reply after a certain period of time, no one will. I guess there's a time limit on how long a thread with very few posts is "fresh." Other people may look at it, but if the thread was posted a few days ago and didn't go anywhere, they probably won't post. Sort of a self-defeating system, but hey. As for me...I often browse threads I'm not interested in, just to make sure everything's under control.
Semjaza
I have a feeling when it's all those views and few replies, it's the same few people checking the thread over and over. Particlularly the person who made the thread in the first place.
Krillen
Well, If my opinion needs to be heard, I post. I only post when its necessary. I usually post to agree with people, disagree with people, help people, etc. Some people dont post because they have no relation tot he topic. XeEmO
Well when I reply it's usually just when I have something to say. Sometimes even if I don't I'll find some reason to post and some way to stay on topic. I used to just come here and browse every once in a while because I just liked reading people opinions on things. This was before I even signed up. Recently on the other hand I have been posting. It's quite addicting and I think I've been doing it more and more.
Guest Randleman
I reply if I want my opinions heard or feel I can contribute to the wellness of the community. (:p)
Dragon Fou Lu
i usually only reply to threads in which i know the subject in other words, unless the thread is about something i know about or i know something that hasn't been posted yet, then i will reply to the thread. :) (whew! sounds kinda complicated to me and i was the one typing it! :p)
Spikey
I usually reply if I got something good to say, and if I know what the heck I'm talking about. Other wise, if I don't understand the thread or something like that I don't reply.
Justin
It's not even interest in the topic that decides for me. There are multiple topics I've been interested in, but never replied to. Sometimes it's the time I have; still other times it's just a matter of having anything of value to say. And then again, it probably also has a lot to do with the kind of topic it is. -Justin
GreenEyedDragon
I usually reply to posts that catch my attention...or something that i can relate to. Also, if i'm reading through the replies and i see something that i have a strong opinion for or against, or maybe just something that i have a different perspective on! I just has to partain to my ineterests or my beliefs. ~Alex
Shippo
Sometimes the topic seems kool, but when you actually read it, its kinda stupid 0_o, hahaha, lol, sumtimes topics are way too long, as mentioned earlier i think

Dragonballzman
Well, alot of the time I end up writing a post then deciding it's not that important, and closing the window. I'll only post if I feel what I'm saying is worth reading. Sometimes, what makes me not post, is when someone is being a complete idiot. I tell myself that they're (insert loads of bad language) but I can't post that here, can I? So I simply close the window. I've read alot of the topics on this board, but the amount of posts I've made these days has been getting lower and lower than before. In short, I only post if I have something good to say. And I don't post when I feel I may end up breaking a few rules, such as flaming.
terra
I've always thought message boards were kind of strange actually ... which is one reason I have, like, 5 posts right now. (ok I've also been registered for a really short time, but I was browsing the boards for a long time before that.) anyway, I think they're strange because so often they're just polls of like, "what's your favorite ____?" and does anyone really care what anybody else's favorite ____ is? well, probably some people do, which is why message boards can thrive. anyway ... so I usually only reply if I think the conversation is interesting and someone might actually benefit from what I have to say. this may be the exception :-P [edit: word choice]
amibasuki
I post if I'm familiar with the subject being discussed. kinda like how it is in the Music/TV forum; you can't really reply to most of the threads unless you've actually seen the movie/tv show or heard the CD, can you? I also post if I happen to like what's being talked about, or if I want to give my opinion on something. as for avoiding certain threads, if I get on and see a new thread that's already got six pages attached to it, and there's really nothing that interests me about it on the first couple of pages, I don't bother with it. I also don't reply if what I had to say would just be repeating what about 10 other people before me said, or if I don't know much information about the subject being talked about. those political threads come to mind for that case; I think the only one I've ever posted more than two posts in had to do with the whole war thing that happened this year, and that was because I actually had a fairly good idea of what all was going on.
