Has any one ever heard of a black or golden chocobo? My frined J.K. has played ever FF games and every thing of them. He says he has a black and gold chocobo. But on the other hand my other friend says there isn't a black chocobo but there is a golden one. I'm wandering if any one has ever had a black or golden chocobo? J.K. took 40 hours to get the black chocobo and around 30hours to get a golden one. My other friend took 50hours to just get a golden chocobo. Some of my other friends say they have them too and it took months to get a golden one, so they say. So it's eather true or could it be that they had all missed up their games completely. Cause I've never seen a golden chocobo. I wanna know what you guys think, is there a black/gold chocobo?

There's not a combined Black and Gold one that I know of (though that sounds like an interesting visual, oooo).

In FF7, common knowledge dictates that there is a Black Chocobo, and there is a Golden one. It doesn't take forever, just a few hours at most (as long as you have the W-Item Materia, that is).

As far as FF9 goes, I forget if there is a Black one, but I know there is a Golden Chocobo--it's the only one that can fly. Again, it doesn't take that long to raise this bird--you just have to know what you are doing. ;)

Now, in FFX, there is only one kind of Chocobo--normal yellow. And you don't get a chance to train it to any other kind of color. Maybe they will fix this with FFX-2 (it'd be nice to see), but I don't know.

And there you have it.

Are you talking about a specific game that has them?Oo I know FF7 does, because I've got a black one, golden, blue, green, and regular in that.^^() It NEVER took me more than an hour to get a black OR golden though.Oo Personally, I think your friends are fibbing about it.

I know there are also Golden Chocobos in Final Fantasy IX, but I"m a bit fuzzy on the other games...I know there is a black in one of the Super Nes ones..goodness my memory is fuzzy.Oo

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help, but maybe that cleared a bit up for you?

EDIT:Goodness Ginny, you beat me to it.^^() Oh well, by the way, there is no Black Chocobo in FFIX.

I'm talking in the game FF9, FF8, and the demo for the online game. Also from there what I hear you can get a chocobo in FF legend 1, 2, and 3 for the normal gameboy.

On the subject of chocobos I've heard that you can get one in the Nintendo FF Legends. I have Legend three from the year 1993, and you can't get chocobos in that. I've always wandered why, you can see ever time you do a warp to the past, present and future but you can't catch 'em or go near 'em. So if any one has played it, please tell me.

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that there aren't Chocobos in ANY of the of the FF Legend games. Hell, they're technically not FF games as it is... They're Romancing SaGa titles that were renamed for the US so they'd sell more.

With that being said then what are they? Sure about that? Because in the creads they say nothing on SaGa but give alisting to the same people who made some of the other FF games, and on the cover it says SquareSoft in large letters.

Anyways back to the golden and black chocobos my friend I think took so much time because he hate chocobos and love bocos. (I don't see how that could happen)Ok, now that I have some info to know that it's true I guess I'm gonna go and try to get a golden or black chocobo in any of my games.

I'm 100% positive. I wouldn't bother saying so otherwise heh. It's still a Squaresoft game, it just wasn't an FF title in Japan when it was originally released. Like I said, it was part of the SaGa series... Romancing SaGa at the time (SaGa Frontier and Unlimited SaGa have released since then).

They use a lot of people throughout many of their series at Square, just like any other company. It's not uncommon.

So there's some games you don't have to bother with on your quest for Chocobos lol.

If you can remember the monster cactuars, there are other names for them that we use in our V.G.F. Fan Club. Sorry,I should remember that I'm not with club memebers and use their real names. We call them bocos. I don't even remember why. We had I resone but I can't remember now...I still don't see why he dosen't like chocobos though.

Why don't you just call them... cactuars? *confused* What's wrong with the name cactuar? It's describes them better than bocos...

Ah well, it's your club...

But about the topic:
The different colored chocobos appear only in FF7 and FF9. All the other games have only yellow ones. (Though I don't know about the really old ones)

In ffx2 you use Machina to go to places you can't access using the airship Celcius, though some chocobos do appear in the game (because Chocobos live in Spira as well).

Yes, there are black Chocobos in FFIV. They fly, but just like the gold Chocobo in FFIX, they can only land in forests. (You're actually required to use them at one point in the game, however, since airships can't land in forests). There are yellow, white, and black Chocobos in FFIV.
