liamc2
?Report.? Jonathan said, irritation rising in his voice. He had been standing in front of the tent in the freezing cold, not because he had to, but because he felt as though he would rip the head off the next bearer of bad news. ?Message verified?it came from the Load Project all right.? Tony paused, wondering whether or not to mention the wall, ??and that?s all there is to it. The morphogenic generators are going well. Estimated time of completion is ten minutes. We?ll arrive outside Tara in five.? ?Tara?? Jonathan?s heart rate leapt up a notch. ?Whoa, whoa, whoa, Tara? The ancient seat where the kings of Ireland are crowned?? Another piece of the puzzle clicked in the back of his mind. ?Damn! Why do I keep thinking someone is trying to tell me something?? ??Well, I kind of just did?? Jonathan cut Tony?s signal off before he badgered him to tears with a stream of vented anger. He was tensing up and it wasn?t good. Normally he?d be cool and collected, normally the epitome of calm?but someone was jerking his chain and tripping him up. And the memories? A brutal scream of pain shattered the quiet Irish winter. Jonathan looked up the hill and at the cluster of people. Of course?the Blood Eagle?the twisted punishment for an insignificant crime. There is no justice?just us? His father?s words stirred in his skull and Jonathan bit back the fury again. For the first time in his life, his father?s words galled him. He exhaled and relaxed. Around him, the snow fell and settled on his shoulders. Loading.. ?Words were spoken amongst the leaders. Claims were made that the Danann leader was incompetent, and his claims and presence caused displeasure among the land spirits. The Chief?s eldest son, the head Noble, had his eye on Princess Leona and ordered no harm to her or her handmaidens. The druids would be spared, for the sake of the spirits, and the guards also. If they swore their allegiance to none other.? Jonathan closed the text and it faded away. It was biased and was basically saying what Jonathan was surmising. He checked the team flags. All present and accounted for, and in numbers. At least they listened to him on that account. Only five minutes left.
