Guest Taylor Hewitt
Why do they keep making pokemon movies. What do they hope to accomplish a few thousand dollers profit? Jeese no one goes to see them. The parents just say "oh we'll wait until it goes out on video". You don't see the land before time in theatres do u? it just keeps coming out pokemon is just like land b4 time why doesnt pokemon just follow the example set by the land b4 time? :butthead:
Japan
I guess that the makers prefer to play it in theaters before it comes out on video. I wish they stop making them, yeah the first two were good, but come on. Who cares if there is another one. Yeah, I agree. Pokemon movies should just go out on video, but the producers think that Pokemon is still the most popular anime when it really isn't. Well, sorry about that, just releasing a little tenshion. I think that they should follow Land before time's example by just putting it on video. Now that I think about it, they haven't come up with a new Pokemon movie in awhile. Maybe it stopped. I dunno, I could be wrong.
Semjaza
They still make enough money to justify putting them out in theaters. They make at least twenty million off them, if they're unlucky, which is more than a good deal of movies that get released... Especially considering all they do is dub over a movie that was released in Japan in the first place. Pokemon is still the biggest anime I can think of that was released widely in US theaters, so they really don't have much competition in that regard. How popular it is on TV has little to do with it, I'd say (and it's hardly doing badly). Then you take into consideration video sales, which add up to even more in addition to theater sales. It doesn't have to make $100 million to be a success thanks to all of those factors, despite how many people might be sick of it. There's no way the film even took anywhere near that to produce in the first place. They aren't exactly the height of animation lol. In any case, you don't have to see it as it is. I wish there were no more Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen anything lol, but I don't have to see them... so what do I care really. I guess people play Pokemon off as a fad... Sure many kids grew out of it, but the main thing is that the media moved onto other things. The newest games already sold a few million in Japan and a few million in the US, so it's still going pretty well.
Guest Taylor Hewitt
Actually they made that Pokemon 4eva movie or whatever thats now 4 movies. And I was on movie listings and there was another pokemon movie. There goes 5. I hate pokemon.
Patronus
Poor you. They make movies that kids actually do go see. Unless you're all seeing and all knowing, I'd refrain from saying no one goes to them.
OtakuSennen
Yes.. A lot of people are tired of Pokemon. But let's remember, we're all at least near hardcore-otaku level.. Many, if not most of us at OtakuBoards, see beyond the Y7 dubs on television and into complex such as Evangelion and .hack... But still, remember there are little kids and people just getting into anime who don't know about the wide world of subtitled DVDs... They need something to get them into more complex anime, like they need training wheels to get the hang of having a bike. I'm not saying I like Pokemon. Heck, I'd burn all of my old Pokemon merchandise if it wouldn't make me nauseous from the burning plastic. But you don't have to go see it. People go to see movies if they want to. Guest Taylor Hewitt
Ok well I don't hate pokemon. I used to be obsessed with it. Not so much the TV but lets say gameboy and cards. I have had all the games except saffire and ruby at some point in my life. Right now I have gold silver and crystle. I dont play them though. SadClown
^^ Pokemon is a classic, or rather, will be, just like sailor moon and dragonball are classics. You can't deny how great an anime is when it has the power to give a good couple hundred kids seizures with just 2 mins of animated footage! Did anyone ever see that clip? On my birthday when I turned 6. X_X I found that weird..

Kei
I know one thing. If I see either of you two flaming or posting nonsense respectively again, action will be taken. Also, use the Edit button to add something to your comments, rather than double posting. To regard the subject, I'm 100% behind Semjaza. Nintendo and Warner Bros. do it simply because they know it will bring in profits. There's no reason not to, especially since the release of Ruby and Sapphire has brung in some new fans, at least where I am.
