Being a perfectionist usually leads to depression. :p And both conditions are not to be taken lightly. :nono:

I had no idea that was a disease. I think I have that....o0;;

When I'm scrolling down pages with the wheel on the mouse, it MUST land on the line at the top of someone's post. If it's any shorter or any higher than that, I keep doing it over and over again. Then usually when I'm flipping through my yearbook and close the cover, it MUST make the "whump" sound, or I try to do it again. And when I'm playing little tunes on the piano, if I make one mistake, even if one finger hit two accidentally, I start over and wind up playing it about five more times, and if I make another mistake during those five times, I wind up playing it even more times!
Yep, from what I see, I would say that's OCD, but I'm no expert or anything of the sort. I used to have the same problem with my mouse when I was scrolling down, and I still do, it's just not as bad as it used to be.

always HAVE to be chewing on something
I think I have "Oral Fixation," but not seriously. I used to do all of that, chew on pencils, pens, shirts, everything, but I don't do that anymore. I used to have it as seriously as you did, even paper, as you mentioned, but now I just bite my nails, which I would like to stop but I do it subconciously. I really disgust biting my nails too, because it just makes my hands look ugly.

I have scoliosis. And bad eyesight but that's not really a disease.
I believe that wrist cutter has topped us here. Sure, most of us have OCD, depression or other little annoying habits, but scoliosis is a serious thing. My heart goes out to you.

I'm sorry but what is scoliosis. I haven't heard of it before.
Oh and on a nother note I didn't know there was a size 16 foot! Unless you are talking in woman sizes which I know nothing about :p.

Scoliosis is where your backbone is shaped like an S, or just not straight.Oo It can be VERY painful, and can cause other health problems. It can also be lethal if it gets too out of control, so it's best to get medication for it as quickly as possible.

If you believe you may have it, you should talk to a physician immediatly. Usually, a sign would be terrible back pain, bad posture, etc.

Also, if anyone believes they may have OCD, feel free to PM or IM me, and I'll help you out.

Maybe, but the disease is idiopathic, so nobody is sure as to how people get it. However 1 in 10 people with it are girls. The majority of people actually have a slight case of scoliosis, but the condition is only serious if it continues on progression.

Like Mei said, If you believe you have a curve in your back I'd get it checked... usually if it's under a 20 degree curve (or if both curves are under 20, if you have two like I do) they just "check on it" and nothing is done unless you continue to get worse. So don't freak out unless you have a severe curve or your back continues to curve.

Oh and unfortunately, the "cure" is about as ****** as the disease itself.

Other than just causing back pain and general deformity, it can also cause your spine to rotate and thus misshape your ribs, which could end up crushing a lung. That is the most serious physical effect it could have on you since, well, that'd be death pretty much. And plus you'd just look awful if it got that bad.

Sorry for such a long post, but this disease tends to consume most of your life and thoughts. So like I said, if you have it or think you have it, do everything you can to correct it.

Thank you Kinetic. Most people don't understand the severity of the disease.

When I was at an orthopedic hospital for my leg being operated on, I saw many people who had scoliosis. It's really no joke- it can be seriously dehabilitating. This boy I met was only about three, but was there every single time I was over a three-year period. He was wearing his plaster-cast like a vest, and had a large metal frame over his head. I've no idea how his treatment got on, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Being pregnant can cause scoliosis at times, but only if you're dredisposed to developing it anyway. I doubt severe cases can be caused by environmental stress less than, say, a car crash, but that's more likely to break your back rather than anything else.

Good luck, wrist-cutter.

But my worst thing is

Oral Fixation: I always HAVE to have something in my mouth, always HAVE to be chewing on something. I used to didn't know what was wrong with me, anything I saw almost went in my mouth.
It was worse when I was little and had little plastic animals(all of them have teeth marks and are missing limbs), my pencils and pens at school looked like they went through saw mills, paper simply vanished. In sixth grade I was so determined to not chew on my nails, I chewed on my knuckles until they bled.
I'm going to High School now and am much better...so long as I have bubble gum with me. But every once in a while I'll realize I'm not chewing on gum but on plastic or paper or finger nails.(just the other day I noticed I was chewing on a plastic dog and to make my sister take it from me)

Well, now you know my problems, and don't be freaked out....
Ooooooh! So that's why you always have gum....

Heh That's kinda wierd. I never knew you had that....o.0;

I actualy have no major illnesses mental or phyiscal. However, I have genticly prone to diebities. I also am a pretty depressed guy, but it is not chemical (i dont think). It's more like a bitter ennui, but there is nothing major about it...My brother though is probably chlinicaly depressed, so I have to deal with that alot...

I'm really surprised at how many people have cases of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder on OtakuBoards. I figured that it would be a minority of people, or maybe it's just a coincidence that a lot of people on OB have it. Anyway, Chou Long Kai, it seems that you have OCD, but once again, I'm not sure, but that's definately what it seems like.

I have a number of things wrong with me...my fingers are so crooked, i'm probaby going to get arthoritis (sp??) when i'm like 20, it's because I played piano for like 8 years and now i'm on the copmuter a lot...it's like half of my fingers on one hand bend to the center, then the other 2 or three bend into the center on the other side, and my knuckles are huge and it just looks so bad...

But that's not a serious disorder - i think that I may be developing schizophrenia. Maybe catatonic schizophrenia..but sometimes I can hear murmers in my head, like a TV turned down really low. I'll check it out in a few years...it may be just...me...being weird. But you know, you never know..

I also had this..i don't know what you call it...but whatever Rosie O'Donnel had on her finger, starts w/ an S...I had in my ear in 6th grade. It was just like all these little bumps inside my ear, I got some medicine for it, but if we hadn't of caught it early then it might have been really serious.

Alright - i think i'm done here.

Last I checked, the only medication was putting a metal bar in your back making it straight. Anyway as for major health problems, I have paranoid schizophrenia. It sucks, a lot, beyond anything you can imagine.

You'd be hard pressed to find a doctor who would recommend doing that, as it can lead to other serious problems with your spine. Generally, surgery is seen as a "last resort" approach to the problem, when the deformation has gotten to the point where other treatments are ineffective.

I got a problem I always bite my nails it pisses me off. I also crack my knuckes... not to mention every other bone in my body. I love cracking my neck and back. I'll probably get arthritus... that sucks. I've been trying to quit... they should make a patch.

I have a serious health prob. it called the tansion of the great vessels. Out of the eight that had the corrective surgery i was the only one to live. I was the first to use only my own heart tissue. That right i have none of that syntetic crab. The doctors said that i would be lucky to see my 13 birthday not gbe cocky but ha im 18 3/4 year old. Own thing is that i must use oxgen at elevations above 9000 ft. and can't over exerst my self. But other than that im health and very smart. even though that the lack of O2 to by brain did cause spech impedement, and might of cause other thing but i would have to go to a nerologist to figure that part out. But im happy to be alive.

When I had that cyst removed during my c-section, they did a biopsy on it and it turned out to be pre-cancerous. So I have to go to a cancer doctor next week on top of everything else, just in case I develop ovarian cancer. I don't really care, though. I kind of hope I die from it.
