After waiting for quite some time, on the order of 10 or so hours, KaZaA lite is almost done downloading the 12th DBZ movie, "The Rebirth of Fusion". Unfortunately, I have no garuntee that this will be subbed, and I know for a fact that it's not dubbed.

Therefor, can someone please tell me:

1) The name of the main evil bad-guy person dude thing
2) Why Goku and Vegeta appear to be in the land of spike bombs and floating jellybeans.
3) Why both Vegeta and Goku are dead
4) The basic outline

I realise that I could get this at a DBZ website...however, thier synopsi are bland, boring, and not detailed enough.

...

Oh, yes, and could someone tell me the name of the first movie with Brolly in it?

----------------------------

Well, that?s 53 minutes and 46 seconds of my life that I want back.

I am reffering, of course, to the 12th Dragonball Z movie, ?The Rebirth of Fusion?. I feel that it is my duty, as a good person, to warn all of you people out there to not watch this movie.

Ever.

Even if payed money.

Well, okay, if payed money to watch it, then watch it. But otherwise...no.

Before I begin this review, let me state two things: If every episode of undubbed DBZ runs like this movie, then the dub of DBZ is A GIFT FROM THE LORD ALMIGHTY, because apparantly my father, despite his moment of bigotry, was right: The Japanese will watch anything.

Two: Americans may not be as good with character developement or animation...but at least we always have better voice actors and a SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE music score. I know animes are typically low-budget, but surely they can afford a descent electric pianist to do the score.

Also, before I continue: Due to my knowledge of them, and my lack of origional version names, I will be using all dub names.

Now. This movie starts out as another normal day in the Afterlife...or Otherworld...or Afterworld...or whatever you want to call it. Goku and Pikon have apparantly decided to have another match. I was under the impression that this tournement only happens once every 500 years or so, but apparantly I was wrong. Goku beats some guy named Frog, and Pikon has fun thrashing around someone else. Then they start fighting each other, ?cause that?s what you do in a fight. Whee...

Now, meanwhile, King Yami is judgeing souls. He does that for a living, but I gather that the pay for people who work for him sucks. Some oni named Tank is supposed to clean out the filter which washes the sins off of dead people?s souls. Fair enough, it?s what he does for a living.

Now, apparantly, there was some demon lord thing named Janenba. Despite being an oni, he was washed. Why? We don?t know. As far as I can tell, Janenba has no reason to even exist other then to simply star in this movie. But the darkness and evilness came off of him, and right now I suppose he?s kicking back and drinking a coolata in Heaven. However, his evilness and darkness and general nastiness ended up on Tank, and he was essentially reborn.

His rebirth has some nasty effects on Otherworld, apparantly. Janenba, in his Evil Dough Boy form, turns all of Otherworld into a land of Jellybeans. Floating Jellybeans. He uses these as weapons. FEAR THE BEANS! Naturally, Goku and Pikon seek to fix all of this.

Oh, his rebirth also brings all dead people back to life on Earth. In fact, anything that?s died. Freiza and the Ginyu force even show up. But not anyone else. Apparantly Freiza was the only evil guy bored enough to seek revenge.

Anyway, on the main plotline, Janenba (Played by the Pilsbury Dough Boy) fights Goku. Janenba shoots energy, warps his hands around, and does other stuff. Goku is pummeled for a little bit, before becomeing a Super-Super-Super Saiyin, more commonly known as a Super Saiyin x3. Eyebrowless Goku destroys Dough boy Janenba, only to have him pull a Majin Buu and turn into DOOM and GLOOM and GENERAL NASTINESS Janenba, which we?ll call DGGN Janenba. DGGN Janenba has a big *** sword. He kills Goku for a little bit, before Vegeta randomly shows up. he?s dead too, not that we have any clue why.

Vegeta fights DGGN Janenba. DGGN Jenenba fights back. Vegeta, as usual, cannot have a moment of glory, and fails. Goku and him fly away into the Land of Spike Bombs, whereupon Goku reveals the secret of Fusion to Vegeta. See bellow on a comment relating to this. Regardless, Vegeta and Goku fuse, after a fassion, and become this really short and fat version of Gogeta. This version of Gogeta fights DGGN Janenba, and surprisingly actually makes some headway. That personally sickens me.

After unfusing, Goku and Vegeta flee some more. They?re about to Fuse again, when DGGN Janenba shows up randomly. But luckly, so does Pikon! Randomness for the whole family. Pikon buys them enough time to fuse again, although I note with some dismay that Pikon doesn?t die. Toriyama really hates killing his characters permenantly.

The new version of Vegtio - the real version - spends perhaps thirty seconds fighting DGGN Janenba, before killing him. DGGN Janenba screams the most boring and emotionless death wail ever - one which did not fit the way he was dieing, all sparkly and dissapating and stuff - and Tank re-apears, then flees from Gogeta.

On Earth, meanwhile...

Freiza shows up. I must say, out of this entire thing, I am pleased with only two voice actors, and one of them is whoever does Freiza - although, considering the entire cast of actors, that truely isn?t saying much. Freiza?s voice actor sucks, it?s just better then some of the others in this movie. Freiza doesn?t even get the glory of being thrashed, though - one punch from Gohan, and he dies. Ugh. Very sad, especially seeing as he?s the only enemy in DBZ who ever actually succeaded in killing Goku. No - Piccolo does not count, he was a good guy at the time and was striking at Raditz. And Goku killed himself when he was facing Cell.

Oh, yes, Trunks and Goten fight Hitler and the rest of the Third Reich. I, personally, find it amazing that Hitler boths speaks Japanese, and speaks it without any trace of a German accent. Again: Ugh. The only case of pure evil in history deserves better then this.

It should be noted that, apparantly, the Dead have bad animators. Black lines are around thier entire frames.

Now, I have a question: When does this movie take place? Both Vegeta and Goku are dead. But, no where in the DBZ series where they ever both dead at the same time. Next, Trunks and Goten know how to fuse, showing us that this is likely after the Buu saga. But, Goku has to explain fusion to Vegeta, marking it as taking place before the Buu saga. Also, further adding to the confusion: All of the movies - except for the first one - are supposed to not tie into the series. However at the very end, there is a monologue by a few people, inlucing Goku. It was not subtitled, but I clearly heared ?Majin Buu?. Furthermore, Gohan goes into the guise of the Great Saiyaman in this, but I have come to understand that he gave up on that durring the World Tornement saga, leading us to believe that this was before the Buu cycle. But, durring the fight with Daburah, Vegeta remarks the Gohan is less powerful then when he faced Cell, meaning that Freiza should have been a chalange, not a one-hit kill. Finally, Shin Leung (the only name which I willl spell in it?s origional form - Shin Leung is the politically correct spelling of Shenron) is summoned, and his size and power and big...horns...amaze Videl. But, durring the Buu saga, she sees him, does she not? So why is she amazed so much this time? Confusion ensues.

I would like to take this time to note that Shin Leung is like a Star Destroyer: He never ends.

There is a place online where a guy called the Self Made Critic rates movies. He rates on a scale he calls Babylons. Zero Babylons signifies the pit of all movies. Five Babylons is reserved for anything with a talking pig or a Lightsaber.

This movie gets 1 and 1/5 Babylons. Why that? Because DGGN Janenba had some pretty cool fights sceans (that?s the 1/5 of a Babylon) and Freiza was in it (that?s the 1 Babylon).

Title: Dragon Ball Z Movie 12: the Rebirth of Fusion.
Directed By: Akira Toriyama, I assume.
Starring: Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Videl, the Pilsbury Dough Boy on a bad dough day, and Freiza?s second-cousin twice removed on his mother?s side in his second form as DGGN Janenba*. Also staring North Kai, South Kai, East Kai, West Kai, Grand Kai, Freiza, Hercule, The Milk Force, the Third Reich, a bunch of demons, Tokugawa?s army, Romeo and Juliet, a guy without an eye, the Deadites, and your great-great-great grandmother.

*Or perhaps Cell?s brother-in-law. Really, the designs for DGGN Janenba were quite obviously based off of either Freiza?s second form, or Cell?s first/final. Weather this is conscience or subconscience, I don?t know, but it does nothing to improve the fact that he says nothing. Really, though, from the music vid I watched which pulled sceans from this (?In the End? by Linkin Park, the vid was done by someone calling himself Dark Kamui), I expected sooo much more. It?s almost enough to make me not want to watch the first Brolly movie.
