Weight! AHHHHH!!!!

There's a lot of ways to lose weight. Back when I was a Sophomore, I was 5'5 and weighed 200 lbs...really wasn't happy with that. So I took a rigorous tennis class where it focuses on agility instead of technique. 2 hours, 4 days a week...drank a lot of water. Lost 30 lbs in 2 months. I didn't really diet, but after the training, I didn't feel like eating as much as before.

I've noticed that running makes my weight go up...probably because I'm heavy on my feet, compared to tennis where my heels are always up, shuffling around. My Anatomy teacher told me the key to losing weight is to burn more calories than you take in...makes sense. One good tip I've learned is if you're hungry and it's nowhere near mealtime, take some water to calm the stomach so you don't have to resort to snacks as much.

Females from the same age need around 1400. It doesn't work out to be too good if you start burning off your "sleep calories".

It's also good to stick as close as you can to the healthy calorie intake range. You can eat healthy foods, alot at that, to get to the intake range. Or you can eat a heap of chips and kebabs and go a crack and a half over it.

For men, 3000 is the average calorie intake range, for women, 2300. If you want to lose weight, you can drop this intake range to 2000 (recommended healthy intake), or under. Your body needs atleast 1600 calories to go for a day (sleep aswell), for both males and females. If you stay by this rule your body has the fuel it needs (metabolism, energy, etc) to keep going. It's better to not burn off that intake (sleepless nights ;)).

And it's better to get to the neccesary intake range (1600) with healthy foods. This can mean eating a heap of apples and peaches, and you still won't be there. There as, once you jog/run, you burn off around 160 calories of this intake every 20 minutes of running. The perfect range to lose weight. Every week of burning off that much, every day, you're going to burn off around 1000 calories (almost the neccesary intake range for a day!). That's approx. all you need to do to burn off 2/3lbs a week.

-Just say... you're a male who took in 2500 calories for yesterday. Then you run for 40 mintues. (320 calories gone) That's 320 calories gone from the intake range (2500) for that day. Perfect. You got rid of more weight by burning it off. It didn't go away by you sitting down all day. You burned it off.

Burning more than you take in is good of you want to lose weight faster than ever. Though if you're prepared to go without a smooth sleep every night, go right ahead... actually, I did for a while. :drunk:

...man, I feel like a teacher now. Sorry Rico. :whoops:

I manage to eat a diet with just about every vitamin I need with 300 calories out of 2000 the body needs(if not overweight). I loose a pound every 2 days usually since I don't put more than 2% of fat of that regular 100% just not eating nothing but my nutrients and vitamins and I don't feel hungry since my body has the supplement I need. I do this because during school year I gain weight since I leave at 7am and get back at around 5 pm so I need to eat and between and I have to eat any food greasy or healthy so I end up gaining weight since I am not a workout type of person and I try to loose it during the summer. Gotta tell you this stuff works. O yeah it costs around $200 to buy the vitamins and stuff and that is for half a month so is $400 a month so is not a cheap way to loose weight but it works so is good enough for me.:)

If you can't afford this crap I do just don't eat greasy stuff and eat juice and fruits and vegetables and try not to eat things with lots of grease. Lay off the candy and it should work.

I got a question. Would you lose weight if you have no coke and no chocolate and candy and just u know regular food. That's with little excersise and sitting at computer all day.

All The Best

Taylor Hewitt
Yes.. I've been restricting how much coke I've been drinking, eating hardly any chocolate at all, and just eating what I need, and I've lost about 1 and a half stone (about 18 pounds I think) in the last month. And what's more, I don't feel hungry all the time, and I actually end up finishing the meals I do eat, as opposed to throwing some leftovers away.

Like HC said, diets do work. The key is to be determined to cut the crap out of what you eat, and to not give up.

I also walk a fair bit, which helps too. There's no point eating less if you're going to do less at the same time.

(last month I was about 16 and a half stone, now I'm about 15 - but I'm fairly big built and tall, so I'm not massively fat or anything)

The most important thing is not to do it because you feel you need to do it to appease people. The main reason I started was that I'd put on a fair bit of weight, which I knew I could lose again, and so I did. Not because I thought people would prefer me that way.

If you realised how many calories were stored up in fat and glycogen in an average person you probably wouldn't be so worried about that ;)

I seem to recall figures of something like 100,000 calories stored up in fat..

That's why people can go without food for a month or two, if they're forced to. Water is a different matter though.

(incidentally I know an Asian guy who once had to go without food for 56 days- he was nearly dead at the end of it, but he just survived)
Actualy if you starve yourself when you start eating again your body is programed to store that food as fat o_0!!! So just eat helthier...
There are two different states referred to in biochemistry:

1- The starving state- where the body uses fat and glycogen reserves to fuel it

2- the well fed state- where the body stores food up as fat and glycogen reserves

Your body is programmed to store up fat, regardless of whether you've just been starving or not, as long as you're well fed ;)

However, it's still true that eating healthier is far better for your general health.

I'm 5'7 and I weigh about 117. x.x;
However, when I was in the third grade, at about 5'1, I weighed 100, suuu... >>;;

Don't try too hard to diet. I mean, never ever try to starve yourself, but try to go a little easier on food. Starving yourself'll just make you hungrier, and when you just can't hold yourself anymore, you'll start eating alot again. My tip is just to take your mind off food, and get involved in more activities. Don't worry about eating too much when it comes to meals. Meals are important for your health. Just be sure not to eat too many snacks. Occasional snacks are fine, as long as it's a small snack. Healthy snacks are good, but too many can still make you fat. And try stretching while you watch your favorite TV shows, just about until you can make your head touch your knees. And while you're online, just be sure to get up, and stretch a little, especially after you eat. And don't eat too late. Try to have dinner around 4-7, rather than really late. Since you're sleeping, you're not burning any calories, so you should eat earlier, so you can at least burn a little from walking. ^_^;;;;;;

the easiest way to lose weight is to vomit after eating. it's a stupid thing to do, and if you do it it will kill you eventually. i suggest that you just work out or play sports or something. i'm too lasy to work out, but i'll play sports with friends if i had friends that played sports that i like (aka: football)

In response to Chris, THATS SO NOT FUNNY ABOUT VOMITING!!! I have friends who are so skinny from that, that they are almost like walking ghosts. I'm trying to find a healthy way to lose weight. Good suggestion, i think i'll try going sit ups while watching my favorite tv show....keep up with the ideas.

Then, after you've lost all the weight, you eat a whole bunch of carbs and salads to keep that weight. My friend tried it out once, and she lost about twenty pounds.
Yeah, it's called the Atkins Diet. I was put on that diet by the National Guard o_O. I am about 6'1" and weighed 250 pounds. That was 2 weeks ago. The Sergeant told me not to eat bread or anything like that, and eat just meat, along with a little exercise. Did so and have lost 15 pounds so far. Not to shabby.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm a 5'3", 148 ibs, heavy chested Asian and am darn proud of my body. ^_^

If you were expecting the "Love your body" speech, good. Everybody has their good qualities and bad qulaties. I have the biggest hips, but my lips are cool. My calves are big but my eyes are disarming. You shouldn't focus on the bad qualities; you should up the good ones to where everyone's so dazzled by your confidence, and good looks, nobody will notice your tummy, you bad legs, or even your thighs. *insert gasp*

So what if you're not the average Asian; I'm not and I'm happy. I mean, for goodness sake, who wants to be doll-like? I would hate looking like the oriental Raggedy Anne!

I'm 5'2" and I only weight 84 lbs. o.O;; I know, scary huh? It's just that I have a very good matablism. Trust me. The food I eat is like junk, fat, and sugar all the way. I do eat my fruit and stuff, but I'm a food junkie all da way! *cough* Yeah, well.. don't diet. If you starve yourself like my mom did, you'll end up lookin' like a freak for a while. (I've seen some pics of her as a 17 year old, and they is freaky!!). So, just excerise or somethin'. You'll be able to loose pounds, just not in a starvation way. Laterzez!

Sign.....Oh well...The people must know......

Well....I am 5'4 " and 180 lbs.....T.T over wieght.....

I would excerise, but also before you excerise you have to do arobices(sp?) because they help.Diets help.....But don't make yourself starve or thorw up....Cause both are unhealthy, making yourself thorw up and starving yourself are basicly the same thing, but after your body is feed up with it,you'll go on a eating stage, that would make you get all that wieght back.

Ohhh almost forgot.....

My biochemistry teacher advised against the Atkins diet. According to him at least, people mostly lose weight because they get sick of the foods that are available if you completely cut out carbs, and just eat less overall. There were a bunch of other reasons as well ... Anyway, just thought I'd put that in.

My parents both went on a diet similar to the Atkins one, but instead of completely cutting out carbs, they restricted carbs to one meal a day. It worked pretty well for both of them. (Until they stopped and regained some of the weight ... but whatever.)

The best plan is a nice blend of exercise and dieting.

You don't have to kill yourself. Be conservative. Just drink things like water and sports drinks (opposed to soda or deceiving fruit drinks). I limited my soda intake to zero and that really helped me cut down on unnecessary carbs. I also gave up snack foods almost entirely. Occasionally I'll have a pack of fruit snacks. But, the key is to not overindulge yourself. Also, cutting down on dairy products like cheese is a big help.

Lastly, I advise you to avoid eating directly before you go to sleep. It's always best to stop eating past seven o'clock in the evening, if possible. You don't want anything sitting in your stomach while you're sleeping. A lot of people gain weight by making that mistake.

If you combine smart eating habits with a daily exercise routine you should be fine. Hit that cardio. Use the treadmill and the EFX machines. Maybe do simple things in addition to that, like sit-ups and the pounds should come right off.

This stuff did wonders for me, so if you stick with it you should be fine.

Wait till you get older and that metabolism dies down. As for me, I weigh 195 and am 6'6" so that's good enough for me. As for the people that weigh currently 80 pounds, that's incredible. Seriously, I weighed 118 when I was in 5th grade.

well I eat more than that but I lose alot of weight at my grandma's for some reason.(no i'm not suggesting you go to your
gram's.) It's because, like what dayday said, I sit around on my computer all day or play nintendo or watch tv. just being lazy at my gram's.well I get to lazy to get up and get food when I'm doing something so i'll sit around for awhile until my stomach stops growling and then I'm good.

I'm not suggesting you to be lazy either. I'm only lazy at my gram's but I do running and stuff there. back to the point. I'm usually ok not eating breakfast until later(but that's me.) so I combine my breakfast and lunch together and have dinner at the normal time. I don't eat huge meals at either time. just a bowl of cereal or a sandwich and for dinner i eat totally random things and I have ice cream at like midnight everynight.(when there is any)

everytime I visit my gram's, I lose about five pounds.(I'm usually there for a week) I due gain a little when I come back home but I've been losing weight.

someone else mentioned metabolism. yeah that would help. i dunno if your metabolism is low or not.i'm posting this late so hopefully you've already found a solution to your preoblem.

hey,not all asian girls are small and petiete (sp?). I know one and
she is about average but large.it's not all fat or anything it's just her build.don't feel bad about being a little chunky. but you don't have to listen to me.I'm a little chunky myself but I'm at a proper weight.so whatever.hope you find a solution.
