Banzai - Hating it after 2 minutes

I was just channel surfing and came across Banzai, a new TV show on Fox. From the previews, it looked hilarious.

HOWEVER, I now hate it after 2 minutes. The segment they were just running featured a shoot-off between handicapped people.

The kicker had one leg missing, the goalie one arm.

The extremely horridly bad taste of this segment has now made sure that I hate Banzai and will never watch it again.

I should hope anyone with any shred of compassion would refuse to watch it. It's...utter...shi--an utter disgrace to television.

On TNN, there was some Xtreme Elimination program on a few days ago. An American production company got hold of some Xtreme Japanese sports contest (in which the contestants participated in very dangerous and hazardous competitions) and re-dubbed the entire thing, creating a demented comedy. That's so much better, because at least we're laughing at someone's stupidity (anyone who swings off of a rope trying to get stuck onto a wall deserves a laugh), and not someone's handicap (such as Banzai).

Since the TNN show isn't on right now, I'm watching Terminator 2 on USA.

Fox disgusts me.

XEC is the finniest show ever. It's a Japanese game show called "Tadeki's Castle" or something similar to that and the Japanese are well known for their outrageous games shows anyway, so the American company who got it really made it better. I mean, it would have been fine had they actually dubbed it correctly cause it's that funny itself, but they dubbed it weird and incorrectly, almost like an improv thing... it's great...

I haven't caught banzai yet.... I really didn't plan to.

PoisonTounge, I shre your disgusdt at that program. It's just plain stupid. Like betting how many heluim balloons will take a chicken off the ground and to it's most certain doom thousands of feet in the air. or pne in particular which is too perverted to repeat.

Banzai gets a huge thumbs down from me. I wonder how many other otakuties hate this show, and who likes it?

place your bets....Now!

banzai... this show looked stupid from the comercials and i sat through the whole show last night. ugh. but mxc is one of the greatest shows. my favorite event is the rotating surfboard of death becase people do the funniest falls. i also like the one where they have to get through the obstacle course and sinkers and floaters. hahaha *remembers episode where lady gets hit in the face with a soccer ball*

Banzai originated in the UK apparently, so I don't know how much FOX can be blamed for it. The concept seemed fun, but all the commercials seemed like they were mostly just exploiting people... old, handicapped, whatever else.

The chicken thing was pretty bad (unless they had someway of catching it later. They can't really do that to an animal legally, can they?) but it's hard to feel sorry for the old people or the handicapped people because it's not like anyone forced them to do it. The agreed to do it and were probably paid more than any of us make in two months. However it looks to us, the fact that they're there means it's not as horrid to them.

Banzai IS kinda stupid... But I really enjoy it 'cause I was watching it with friends over the phone.. It really is dumb.. (I love British programming.. Stupid is GOOD..) But I plan on watching it with my friends, which makes it a worthwhile experience.

(Plus, I like the Japanese letters between every little segment)

I think I did see a piece of nylon string tied around it's leg, thank God.

It's quite funny, funnyin the sense it's so moronic you can't help but laugh at it. Mr Shake hands man. What's the deal with him!

We bet on the skits here when we watch it. We actually thought the show was imported from japan, and that the "betting" applied in Japan. v_v

there was a nylon string around it and after the stunt they had a disclaimer saying no animals were hurt in the stunt. i only watched the first two things. the hand shake man was sorta funny. funny out of the stupidity of it. it originated in the u.k.? i swear i heard some japanese in the back round when mister hand skae man was talking like they dubed it badly.

I'm not alone! Finally somebody else who hates it! Since Fox is the only channel we get on the TV in my room(my family isn't big on cable) I was bored and turned it on. And guess what happened to be on that show Banzai! I thought I the entire world had gone whack. That show is just wrong and disgusting. I'm going to have it in my memory forever though.....Curse my dumb photographic memory... Oh well... at least I can have an outlet for my anger and disgust...

Ah yes...good old Banzai. It has been here for ages...and is really funny to tell the truth. Although Fox must be airing a new series ro something becuase that has NEVER happened on Banzai over here. Over here Banzai really just annoys celebraties and does stupid stuff threfore humilating the contestants (who are not handicapped or elderly). Also Takeshi's Castle has been here for ages also...we kept the original name and did the exact same as the Americans...only before you lot did *sticks tounge out* lol just kiddin. But seriously...i just noticed how many programmes you people take from us, put your voice over or give it an american presenter and then air it...many people think it is a brand new AMERICAN show but it was really BRITISH.

e.g.
Who wants to be a millionaire
Takeshi's Castle
I'm a celebrity get me out of here
Popstars
Pop Idol (American Idol)

the list goes on...

But yeah...Banzai aint really like that over here, so it must be a new series or something.

I agree Banzai is quite stupid, tasteless, and disgusting most of the time. But their celebrity clips were pretty hilarious. For one of them they had this girl ask Simon from American Idol a question and then just stand there while he gave his answer. He kept being like, "Well, that's it," and she just stood there pointing her mic into his face. (They also tried to see how long they could shake Kelsey Grammar's hand.)

*ahem* well, The british stole Popstars from Australia, Australia stole the concept from us Kiwis!

Not surprisingly, the guy who created it over here sold the idea to Australia, and it got out of hand :p
