Sandy
Aliens in afterlife? Why not. If we think abstractly, "heaven" is a place of eternal euphoria or something, not some actual place you can point from a map. I don't think such earthly things as time, distance or language affect there. There would be just "souls" from all corners of universe floating around... happily. Well, this is exactly why I dislike the whole concept of afterlife - it just seems so... out-of-reason.
Guest Crimson Spider
Actually, when you die, you don't go to heaven or hell... yet. You go to a waiting place, either called paradise or hades, which is like a heavon or hell. When you do finally enter the kingdom of heavon, you will have your spiritual body, not the one on earth. It will resemble the one on earth, but with the exception that you would not be ugly, and in your prime state of life, or what it would have been. When you finally go to hell, you would look the same, that way all the demons could insult how ugly you are for all eternity. No, really... they do. So far, shinji Ikari is actually pretty darn accurate so far. Besides, god does not kill his children. His children kill his children. God is who everyone blames. When in real life, it was the devil all along. "But doesn't satan have to ask god for permission to do anything first?" Yep. He lets him do certain things to test us. Besides, it won't screw up his plan that he has for us if certain things happen. Everything was set in stone on what was going to happen about 2000 years ago. *Can't wait until Justen shows up and sets everything strait*
Queen Asuka
What faith are YOU, Crimson Spider? You guys are sparking my curiosity. ^_^; And what Justin believes isn't necessarily true, you know.
Sandy
Oh my, is this some sort of sect forming in these boards? ;) The "We Know The Truth And You All Are Just Wrong"-sect, perhaps? Lead by Crimson Spider and Justin, current members Crimson Spider and Justin? :p Okay, I should probably stop posting in this thread, as all that comes out of my mouth is mockery...
Semjaza
I always find it amusing when people present their beliefs on the afterlife as fact. Have you met god? Do you know anyone that has visited Heaven? Of course not. In any case, I can't trust anyone's beliefs here if they can't even spell Heaven correctly. I don't even think about this stuff. I'm alive. We're all alive. Why not be concerned with your life, then? That's what supposedly gets you into these places in the first place. If I die, I die. I had a good run. If I go to Heaven, great. If I go to Hell, that's not so great, but I have no control over that once my life is over. And if there is simply nothing? Well, I'd simply cease to exist anyway, so how would I ever know? I wouldn't.
Marron347
Look, if people didn't state their beliefs as fact then they wouldn't really believe in them would they. I am sure of myself when it comes to my beliefs, so I will state them as fact. And what do you mean by "have you met God." God is everywhere and I talk to him all the time in prayer. Does that count as meeting him?
Semjaza
It's fine as if people say this is what I believe... but a lot of people imply that no you're wrong, this is it. I've seen it in here a few times as it is. And unless you have god answering you and telling you exactly how afterlife works and you're the only one that's right, no. I think you took everything I said far too literally.
James
I agree with Semji. I can't say that I think a whole lot about death, much less what happens afterward. If I die and totally lose my consciousness, then it won't matter. I won't be aware that I'm dead...I won't be aware of anything. So nothing will matter (woo, no taxes!) As for an afterlife...I don't know. I've always thought that the idea of an afterlife was an idea that mankind created, to make death easier to deal with (or to make it more attractive or something, as with ancient Egypt). *shrug* I've never met a dead person, or a ghost, or a goblin, or a gremlin, or anything that floats through walls and so on. So I really don't know. I'm not in a position to say -- I won't be until I die. And then it'll be too late. So yeah. There you go. lol
Queen Asuka
Well, I know what happens after we die. And yes, it has been confirmed to me. I just thought I would point that out.
James
Well, that's okay. That's you. That isn't necessarily everyone else, you know? It goes back to what Semji said earlier, I guess. I'm personally hoping that when I die, I'll wake up in a field of cookies...or, I'll be magically transported to a Nintendo game. Bah. That's what I wish would happen. ~_^ Actually, I've had dreams about afterlife and such. Anyone else have something like that? Those dreams are terribly weird. Though I haven't had a dream like that in a long time. Hm.

I think that if you truly seek to know the truth, then it will be revealed to you. There are so many people who are passive...they believe, but they do not have faith. To have faith is to be active.
James
Well, this gets back to what I was saying a long time ago, about belief being largely a subjective thing. I mean, it's why there are many different religions/political ideologies/management styles/etc etc Everyone has their own view on how something is, basically. From my point of view...I don't know if I'd want to know what happens when I die. Because that way, I think I'd be focusing myself too much on death. I'd rather concentrate on life and focus on the moment, rather than think about the afterlife/non-afterlife, depending on your point of view. I must say though, it's interesting to see the variety of views here. I don't really have a specific view though.

I'm nto myself, but some of the things you've said sound sort of like what my Uncle and Aunt are always trying to tell me.
I go to a Baptist Church, and was baptized there, I don't necessarily follow any set denomination though. I follow what the Bible says, and that's what it says  Everyones got different beliefs, and soem are really diverse views on Christianity/ afterlife. I really enjoy reading up about them ^_^That's why I like these threads so much.
animeforever105
Originally posted by James Everyone has their own view on how something is, basically.
Yes, that is why there are so many different branches I'm sure. Personally I can say there is an "afterlife". Not because I've been to it or I've dreamed of it or anything. Because I have faith and believe what God said is true. Something you mentioned earlier said that nothing talks about the afterlife. Well for your information the Bible does in may different parts or it. But you can believe what you want. I'm not going to try to convert you to my beliefs at this point in time. Guest Mystik
Hey, with religion there is no right or wrong. In all forms of "bibles" it states that God will forgive you for mistakes. And I don't think he's going to send you to hell or knock you out of exsistance if you have your own personal belief about God. As for me, if there is nothing after death but nothingness, then I would not know because I would simply be out of exsistance and not know because I am no longer functioning, kind of like an old PC, it just stops and that is the end. It doesnt know that it has stopped, only the people still around that are alive and functioning are aware. I also have a perception on reincarnation. You could be reincarnated into anything or anyone. I wouldnt mind being a dog or something in the next life. But thats just my view, hell, I wouldn't mind being a tree. Just... *sway*
