Queen Asuka
Okay, I was watching the World News tonight and there is a person who is sueing McDonald's because they are overweight and they claim it is from eating the burgers. Is that the stupidest thing you've ever heard or what? I was actually quite shocked to hear it, but then I thought about it, and it seems that everyone is trying to sue everyone for SOMETHING. So what are your thoughts on this ridiculous lawsuit?
Semjaza
Tonight? I thought this happened like three months ago. I think people should take responsibility for their own actions. McDonalds didn't drive the guy to their restaurant and buy the food for him every day. He did that on his own.
wrist cutter
YOU'RE JUST DISCRIMINATING AGAINST "OVERWEIGHT" PEOPLE. Oh sorry caps.
WW2
Yeah, I saw something about that stupid lawsuit. No body put a gun to their heads and told them to eat, it was their choice. Its just like people sueing tobacco companies, in that people refuse to take responsibility for their own dumb actions. It seems now and days, people are trying to do anything to get rich quick, which leads to such irrational behavior. But thats just my opinion.:D
Emme888
I think it's stupid, Mc Donalds' has calories guides available to the public if they want to see how much FAT they're going to eat. So it's not Mc Donalds fault, what do people expect when they eat fatty greasey fries, a large calorie filled coke, and a greasy burger everyday...please don't tell me you eat like that every day and not plan to die of a heart attack, when you like 40? Please!! People should take responibilty for their own health, and not sue just cause they were to lazy to walk into Subway. Now I'm not saying I don't eat fast food, but I eat it in moderation...like one or twice a week at the most. Please people, instead of serving court lawsuit, go eat some place healthier for you...simple as that.
Juu
Oh gosh, if she didn't want to get fat off burgers, why did she even go to McDonald's in the first place? All it takes is some common sense. It's like the same thing as the Oreo-issue. >>;; It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Hamburgers contain fat. If you don't want to get fat, don't eat too much stuff that contains fat. *nods* *hops off*
Guest Fly-T
When I first saw this, i fell out my chair laughing so hard i nearly died....Sueing Mickey D's for the fact that this person is overweight...Normally, I would speak my mind but it basically speaks for it self.....Stupidity at it's worst....or finest...somethin like dat....Holla at cha' Boi
Deedlit
They chose to eat it; it's their fault. Simple as that.
Syk3
Yeah, well, I too thought this happenned a few months ago or something. From what I know, McDonalds simply proved that there is nothing addicting in their food, so if the person continued to eat there and become overweight, it's their own fault. The fact of the matter is that the person that become overweight is completely responsible for going there and eating all the time. Like you said, Tori, it's as if everyone is trying to find an excuse to sue each other these days.
Vegitto4
I figure, if your overweight because of eating a food, stop eating it, so you dont have to keep gaining the weight from it. it's not logical to sue them for it. it's actually rather funny, that these ppl are so ignorant. Jubei Yagyou
You dont put a gun to your lets say foot and sue the gun company for shooting you. Its addicting for rednecks to use guns right? And they dont sue gun companies so who gave that right to fat people?
Armadillomon
What was the oreo thing? I agree whole-heartedly. People are too embarassed to admit to their own stupidity and weak will power. I COULD eat 4 big macs a day every day for my whole life, but chances are awfully good that I'll be smart enough NOT to do that. If you want to get rich, marry into a rich family ^_^ (No, I'm not that shallow!) It's just like the woman who sued McDonald's when she spilled coffee in her lap, and now they have to put that CAUTION: CONTENTS ARE HOT label on all of their coffee cups b/c she sued. Pretty soon, we're gonna see SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: QUITTING EATING FAST FOOD NOW GREATLY REDUCES YOUR RISK OF HEART DISEASE or CAUTION: CONTENTS ARE NOT NUTRITIOUS WHATSOEVER. *sigh* what's the world coming to? Chaos
Weak-minded cattle. And then there are the cows they butcher to make the food to feed the cattle. Haha. eleanor
I think it would be a better lawsuit if they sued McDonalds for giving false info on what their meat is actually made of.... But anyways, lol, this happened like...last year. Or something. If someone gets fat becuse the eat McDonalds, it's their fault. But the one I heard about a long time ago was about two teenage girls who were suing McDonalds. Then there was something I thought about. Was it the parents that took their children all the time or was it the children who walked to McDonalds all the time?
enigma
Ahh, humanity at its...norm. Yes, people go to fast food places, eat as much calorie soaked, msg coated food as they can, watch themselves get incredibly overweight, then throw their arms up in the air crying how the universe conspired to get them heavy using special mind-controliing techniques hidden within a "happy" meal. *sigh* But seriously, people try to sieze any possible opportunity they can find to earn money dishonestly. Another example, at one of my brother's old workplaces, everyone was given saftey talks and proper instructions to the use of HEADPHONES. Apparently one girl around the age of 20 who was constantly using headphones with the microphone piece managed to injure herself by poking her eye with the headphones, and attempted to sue the company for insufficient teachings on the usage of headphones.
Guest cloricus
That?s America for you, to bad it's spreading to Australia and England. Damn no win no pay lawyers!
Guest Randleman
lol, lawsuits like this are funny. just like that old lady who sued mcdonalds because she put a hot cup of coffee between her legs after getting it from the drive thru, then squeezed her legs and scalded herself. it's the "I made a stupid mistake but am going to blame it on someone else because I am perfect" syndrome. I find it hilarious. I gave up eating at fast food resturants for Lent, and haven't eaten at a fast food place since, and lent is long over. It's not that hard to stop cold turkey (this coming from someone who loves Wendy's Spicy Chicken). Well, I eat at subway and d'angelo's, but I don't count those as fast food (:D). If I get fat from eating too many Buffalo Chicken Wraps (), then it's my own damn fault. I'm not going to sue D'Angelo's for making the best damn wrap on the planet. There are consequenses to your actions. Learn to live with them.
Guest cloricus
Damnit! I can't stop thinking about subway now... I'm going to have to buy it for dinner now. Mmm steak and cheese on cheese and herb foot long sub with half'n'half cookie w/ coke no ice. (I've been there too many times haven't I?) But seriously why is it so hard to realise that fast food contains fat, we all know it does. I eat it and I know its junk food but I also eat a balanced diet (inflicted by my parents) so it has no effect on my overall health. Ahh I'm to busy to be thinking about subway. (Which is meant to be healthier in AU than the US! And that it?s officially the Australian Geeks fast food of choice.) So I just think those sort of people are stupid. Shinken
Man, that is rich! But why don't they sue Burger King, too? I'll tell you why; because McDonalds has more money, that's why! It's rediculous that people go to McDonalds, eat all that food, WATCH them cook it, and then expect not to get fat! My God, what has the world come to? It's just sad, really. This latest lawsuit just came from an idea that this latest 'victim' got from seeing the last McDee's lawsuit for obesity. First it was a mother suing because her kids were fat (which was because she sent them there for lunch each and every day for, oh, I don't know... Half the kids' lives?! ugh...), then some chick gets burned because she was driving and holding hot coffee between her knees, without the cap on and expecting not to get burned :nope: Now it's this guy. Sheesh, give it up, people!
Spikey
Yeah, your right. It's their own pityful stupidity to eat something that makes them fat, then try to sue a place for doing. Obviously he likes the food, so that's like saying "I'm sewing you because the food is to darn good and now it's making me fat."
Guest Taylor Hewitt
I wouldn't be 100% sure if this was true or not I rarely go to mcdonalds and right now I'm sorta on a diet so... But I think it's just an easy way for a guy to get rich. Remember the coffee incident?
Morinaka
I personally think its these ambulance chasing lawyers that don't help. Give them an inch and they'll go a mile for quick money at the expense of big business. I agree with everyone on this thread, these people are just too stupid to admit when they're wrong, and cloricus it is spreading to england as well :( Lawyers advertise on TV here every 15 minutes and it's always some stupid case that they won as an example, "I sat on my office chair the wheel came off, i fell back onto the floor severly (sure ;) ) injuring my back knee, and I won £7000!!" I personally think it was the guy's fat *** that broke the chair. I don't hate lawyers, hell, my sister is one and she's one the nicest people you could meet. Everything in moderation people :)
Mina
They're justifying the lawsuit on advertisements. People say they're that convincing. Still, that's why they're called advertisements. The company certainly made their goal if the ads worked. It's a stupid lawsuit by people who simply don't take responsibility.
Sandy
It's all because of one thing: money! I bet the man who had smoked since he was eight or something and got a lung-cancer met a lawyer at the hospital who told him that he can get big bucks from the tobacco company by suing them for causing the cancer. Of course the lawyer would get a big reward, but the man would get even bigger. I don't know how that ended up, but it was a big media event about a year ago. *jumps off singing* Money makes the world go 'round, world go 'round, world go 'round...
Jesus Chicken
I really want to punch that retard in the face. I'm sorry if anyone thinks this is a good idea, but if you do, I want to punch you in the face, you retard. This is one of the stupidest things I've read in a while, and I've read Harry Potter! That guy should be shot, or something. Seriously, he is is one of those people that get awards for killing themselves, simply because they have stopped their genes from passing on.
