I am a HUGE Fan of Utada Hikaru.

I love her songs because they're touching.
It all began when I saw an ad for Kingdom Hearts.
The small section of the song was pretty catchy so I read the bottom of it and they said Utada Hikaru "Simple and Clean".
I immediately jumped on the net and looked for a download of the song.It took me a long long long time to find it.It was very interesting. Then I heard there was an original to it.I went searching and found out the name of it was "Hikari" which meant Light in Japanese.I listened to it and examined the major differences in the lyrics.I discovered I liked the Japanese version better.
After that I listened to her song "First Love".When I first heard it,it really touched me.It was so sad and emotional.About the guy she liked and then they broke up but she still loves him and won't forget him.I listened very carefully and I am seriously moved by it.
Then I heard Colours. It was very interesting. All the different things she associated with colors and the memories they brought back of her boyfriend.
Finally I heard Sakura Drops. It was about heartbreak and about her boyfriend again.

All her songs are about her boyfriend. They broke up but she still loves him.It may be real,it may be fake but whatever it is.It is very interesting and touching.

What do you guys out there think? You can comment on the songs I've mentioned or you can talk about others I havent mentioned.

PS:For anyone who's wondering I understand Japanese so I can understand "Hikari","First Love" and "Sakura Drops"

What's funny is that there was this huge deal a long time ago, because she married her photographer who did the "Can You Keep a Secret?" single. So I'd say she has pretty well moved on.

Anyway, I've never been a fan of her. Her voice is annoying and she's a bit too r&b for me. Her song "Colors" is the only one I like, but possibly because they play it ALL THE TIME in that minivan commercial...

and at least she can actually pronounce the english she has in her songs (unlike some...)
She was born in New York... English is her first language. That would explain that.

And personally I don't see it as a bad thing when artists can't really pronounce the English in some of their songs all that way...

Well, I had a few of her songs before KH theme, but then i heard it and I tried to find it on the net. Near impossible to find the nice slow one in the commercial, but I found it.. I still like Play Ball the best htough.

I used to be obsessed with her...O_o, and I can still say she can sing pretty good. I love her songs, especially Hikari.

Lol, I was thinking about how well she pronounced English! I know that most Asians not born in the US or Europe can't speak English without adding a funny accent...

I have heard a few of her songs and she seems like a very talented artist. The first song of hers I heard was "Simple and Clean" I downloaded like 4 versions of the song and really liked it so then I went searching for more of her music. "First Love" is also a song of hers I like and I like "Tokyo Love Story" alot as well.

I like her a lot. I too fell in love with her music after watching Kingdom Hearts commercials. I downloaded Simple and Clean Remix MP3. I haven't really listened to the restof her songs, but I lik her nonetheless.

I think that people who speak a forerign language don't always have a funny accent. If you start learning it when you are about 10, by the time you are 20 any accent will be very slight..

Anyway, I really like her music, but I've only found her CD in a store once, and I was broke then. When I came back it was gone. And all the music of hers I dowloaded is at home on my other computer..*bawls*

Yeah, geez. It's time to jump on the Japanese music bandwagon. Everybody who's anybody is doing it.

Um, clarification: The reason I listen to japanese music is because it's in japanese and has a good melody, rhythm, etc. I don't listen to it to hear somebody attempt to pronounce english. *coughs* inuyasha *coughs* change the world.*coughs* english version*

If you listen to it for a good rythm and melody, then you shouldnt mind them speaking english. Then again, you said you listen to it because it's in japanese....o.0;; I think it's really annoying when people think that it's cool no matter what if it's Japanese... moo
