I'm not sure if this has been created yet. If so, just get rid of it.

I was wondering what was the first anime that you've ever seen or gotten into that got you hooked?

My first was DBZ, after searching the net I found more and more anime. I also rented videos at Blockbuster. I started finding random animes that turned out being the best. For example, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Sakura Wars, Evangelion, Lupin the 3rd, Cowboy Bebop....the list goes on and on. But I want to know what was your first?

This post is spam. Your post is basically one word, which is against the rules, and shows all of us what can happen with such topics. When you post the anime that you first saw, try to expand on that, and say such things as what the circumstances were when you first saw it, who told you about it, etc. Otherwise, I'm sure Asuki will agree with me when I say this thread will be closed if such posts continue. ;)

I believe that the first anime I saw that got me hooked was Dragonball Z, though I probably watched other animes on TV randomly without taking notice to them. My friends had already seen the show and were collecting the cards, so I decided to get into it, and that's how I started my anime obsession. ;) Dragonball Z kept me hooked for quite a while with the slow process of showing all of the episodes on Toonami, but somewhere on the Cell/Buu saga, I went on to more mature, and preferably better animes such as Cowboy Bebop. I now see just how inferior DBZ is, but I hate it with a passion, so to speak, because I owe it one for getting me in the whole thing. ^_^;

Oh, yes, there was a particularly large topic on this in the past, but in the rules, James mentions that we do not really have to dwell on such topics past the first page, I believe.

Yeah, if the topic's been dead for a while, it's okay to start up a new one.

Anyway...my first anime was probably Teknoman. At least, it was the first "series" that I watched entirely.

One of the series that sticks out in my mind is Samurai Pizza Cats. Was that even an anime? lol. Someone here mentioned it recently...and all these memories flooded back to me. I'd totally forgotten about it up until now. Now I want to buy it on DVD. lol

Actually, before Teknoman, there was a Wizard of Oz anime series on TV that I used to watch. It was very good actually...kind of like a warped take on the traditional story.

Hm.. Speed Racer. When I was four or something Cartoon Network had it on sorta late at night... I remember the corny-ness and the theme song most.. Oh, and that stupid episode called "The Car Hater" which we have on DVD for some scary reason...

Then came Pokemon. *shudders* I look back at all my Pokemon merchandise and want to light it all with a flamethrower and throw some rubbing alcohol on top of it... (But I'm always wanting to burn things)

Then came Dragonball Z. *shudders* Wow, a major success show without much plot apart from evil alien taking over the world. *screams for 3 episodes straight powering up an energy blast*

Then came my "golden age" of anime.. I buy the DVDs of the GOOD stuff now, like Evangelion, YYH, .hack//SIGN... :D I'm a happy happy otaku now.

..Boy, I'm long-winded.

DBZ was my 2nd anime and I still watch it when the dont show reruns. I forget what the rest were. I think Digimon came next.... *thinks*

The first Anime that I had ever seen was most likely Akira. However, I saw Project Ako and some wierd movie with this guy who couldn't be destroyed unless you shot this little head on top of his head. (Anyone know what anime I am talking about?) But I think the Anime that got me hooked to anime was Trigun.

The first real anime that I watched was the old G-Force show, which is better known as Battle for the Planet. They used to show it on Cartoon Network, and I got hooked to it.

I also used to watch the Sci Fi channel's old Saturday Anime block, which showed cool movies like Project Ako, Iria, Akira, and Kashan.
Man I miss those Saturdays, why won't Sci Fi bring it back?

I guess that Voltron would be the first anime that I ever saw...although I was quite young when I first saw it. The thing I remember most about Voltron was the cool Lions that I used to have...they were like a more difficult version of the constructocons.

The anime that first got me interested in anime was either Demon City Shijuku or Akira...they used to play anime on Sci-fi network every Sunday morning when I was thirteen or fourteen...

I think mines acctually a little weird. The year was 1990, I was five and I lived on the East Coast. Does anyone remember those kids videos that you could buy and they were really really cheesy and all happy-go-lucky whatever. Well my mom used to buy them for me and she came home with one called "Locke: The Superpower" and is was like my favorite forever. I didn't find out till way later that it was a tittle called Chojin Locke and that it was an edit of the american dub. It was so funny, they edited out EVERY little trace of blood, swearing, nudity and everything from it, but very poorly. Always makes me laugh to watch it.

The first Anime I saw was when I was five, I saw 'Gigantor' on the sci fi channel. I had no idea it was Anime then (problably cause the term 'Anime' didnt exist yet) but it was just some giant robot show to watch in the morning. After that all I saw of Anime was on TV commercials selling Akira for 19.95. But then I god into Pokemon and DBZ and yadda-yadda-yadda. I think the real turning point in anime for me was when I picked up a copy of Evangelion at a import store.
I thought it was just gonna be a cool robot anime with sexy ladies ;)

Needless to say, I was wrong, it was like going from cheap apple sparkler to a fine vintage champagne. I was hooked....otherwise why wouldnt I be here....

But my whole family thinks i'm a freak for: "Watching that crap".
But the sacrifice is worth it....okay, shutting up

My first anime was DBZ. I loved and thought it was the most dynamic and deep show ever, but then i saw Gundam Wing and saw how repetive the story line was and how inferior it was to other animes. It but i still love it because it the show that got me into anime and lead me to more and better animes and manga.

Samurai Pizza Cats, heh. I don't think I ever saw that, but I have a couple friends who have a mild obsession with it.

The first anime-anything I probably saw was My Neighbor Totoro. Heh.

The first series I watched was probably Digimon. I don't specifically remember anything before that, heh.

Well...The first anime that I first watched is Sailor Moon. o.o
No idea, and no clue that it was anime when i watched it because i was about 3-4 years old by then. Too young, huh?
Then years passed, I started watching anime shows like DragonBallZ, Gundam, Tenchi Muyo, Saber Marionette J, and many more, only i forgot the titles of the show. ^_^;
I truly LOVE anime, and i love to draw them too.

When I was a kid (like 6-8 I think) my dad got me some videos of this series. I think it was called Ulesiesor something like that (I'm not even sure if its anime now as my memory is really bad. Then came the POKe'MON fad *Shudder*. It was only later that I came across DBZ (Seems that it got alot of people hooked on anime) then Gundam Wing. Now Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop (drawing as my #1 fave series of all time!), Outlaw Star, Akira etc.

The first anime I saw was Speed Racer. I think that was about at the age of 4 or 3. It was not what got me hooked at all.

DragonBall Z was what got me hooked to anime. I didn't even know Speed racer was an anime.

I believe my first anime was Sailor Moon.:) I remember my friend liking it and me making fun of her for it. Then I started to watch it and started to like it more.

I didn't even know what anime was back then though. I think what actually got me into the anime fandom was either DBZ or Cowboy Bebop.

Well, I think technically for me it was the Thundercats. I used to watch that all the time when I was a baby. My mom tells the funniest stories about me being obsessed with that show. There are also lots of other classics that I used to watch that are not aired now, but that was definately the first one for me.

In the last thread I said that Pokemon was the first anime I ever saw. I was thinking about it, and the first anime I ever watched was actually Transformers. I don't remember if I was watching recordings of it or if it was still on tv when I watched it.
