Sorry if this thread was created beofre, I'm not much of a regular OB member, so I wouldn't know. ^^;

How old were you when you fist discovered the internet, and what did you start doing once you were online?
I first 'discovered' the internet when I was in 6th grade, aged 12, and I found the Otakuboards, and began posting here. ^.^ after a while, I taught myself CSS and HTML, and I've been doing professional webdesign ever since. ^^ What about you?

I don't remember either ^_^'. cursed short-term memory.

anywho, I think I first started using the internet when I was in 5th grade. I even made my own girls club webpage: Where the Girls Gather ^_^. gimme a break, I was 11 :shifty:. actually, I knew more about HTML and all that rot then than I do now. forgot it all in the span of 4 years :drunk:.

Seems like I've been on this thing for quite some time... I'm guessing fourth or fifth grade? I remember designing a webpage for my fifth grade class, so it had probably been at least a year that I'd known about it. Hah... that's when Netscape 2.0 was like, wow! hehe.

I seriously think I have been on here since I was in 3rd grade, about 5 years ago since I am going to 8th. I have been on OB since late late V2. I can't remember exactly what grade I was in then, but I know I was on a different name back then. Then on V3 I changed to NoodleZ then I think V5 I went to Ryan, or was it early V6? I can't remember right now, my memory is starting to go blank. Oh well...

I started using the internet about 3 years ago when I got my new computer. In the beginning, I didn't know anything about the internet, so I start browsing other websites. And later, Juu introduced me to OB.

I know we had a computer class when I was in seventh grade, and the internet sorta confused me. I didn't quite get it. >_< So I guess I would have been...twelve?

Or, well...I know we had it on our computer when I was in fourth or fifth grade, but it was AOL and I didn't much mess with it. I didn't get what you were supposed to do with it, heh.

I actually started of doing a lot of stuff online when I was thirteen and fourteen. End of seventh grade, I guess. I did a lot of chatroom stuff with Excite VP during eighth grade. Good times...

Guest Randleman
I started using the internet back when I was still in elementary school. (i'm a senior in HS now). Back then all there was was AOL and Netscape for internet. And even then you couldn't get online because all you got were busy signals and pages with pictures took a good 1/2 hour to load. those were the days....

Hmm...it seems so long ago now. I guess I first started using the internet almost 5 years ago when I was in sixth grade, in school for projects, I suppose. We had computers in my elementary school, but they were Mac and only had games on them and such, though according to all of you, they probably should have had the internet. Cheap school. *kicks it*

When I finally got the internet at my house, it was when I was in 7th grade, and I didn't really see it's full potential. I'd rarely get on to use it, and even then I'd just search for DBZ pictures and information. It wasn't until two years ago that my friend came over and showed me how to work AIM, then I found OtakuBoards shortly after (or maybe the other way around), and I've been addicted to it ever since, lol.

Hm.. When I was in 3rd grade (4 years ago) we used to have a crummy old Windows 95.. Then my dad got a job when internet access WAS required, so then we got a vamped up 98 and got internet access. I started off looking at Pokemon sites, mostly.. *shudders* Then, once I entered my "golden age of anime" I started searching for Evangelion and .hack//SIGN episode guides, which brought me to The Otaku, thus putting me in OtakuBoards! l-] The rest is history.

I've been using the internet for a good six years. When we first got it in our house, the computer we had was about the equivalent of a 4k modem. It was terrible. We would click, go out for a few hours and come back to a half loaded page(slight exageration). I mostly stuck to the Red Dragon Inn on AOL. I guess that's what really started my RPing days, though I didn't know it at the time.

When we bought our iMAC I had acess to a 56k and almost pissed my pants. Though we can only connect at about 48k, it was still frickin amazing. I didn't really do much else but RP in chatrooms and do research.

My good friend Char!, perhaps some of you still remember him, introduced me to OB a little over a year ago and I've been hooked ever since. Though I'm just beginning to get into anime.

I first started using the internet about 5/6 years ago. My mum would always be chatting online and i convinced her to let me have an hour-slot each night *giggles*

Since then i've become an internet-junkie ^__^ I swear if suddenly computers dissappeared I would go insane..really i would.

Im 17 now and my hour a night slot has kinda ...died heh O_o Im usually on for 9-10 hours at a time now.

When i first got the internet it usually consisted of going into chatrooms. Now i surf, chat and post my work on sites etc etc..Im still not completly computer-wise O_o but i know a fair amount..and i know my way around the web like the back of my hand *giggles and pets her modem* ^__^

Same here.

I only really started using the net back in 98 (I'm 17 now) when i got my top of the line P2 400MHz (still works) with 56k v92 modem!!

My 2 hour a night rule got chucked out when i got cable internet *kisses RJ45 socket on wall* :love: whenever i'm awake the computer is connected to the net :)

I mainly use it for site browsing, deleting spam from my e-mail boxes, chatting on IM's and mIRC and downloading anime (70GB now).
Only other thing is playing online games, mainly Unreal Tournament.

I 'discovered' the internet when I was about five or six. ^_^;

My dad had a much bigger office in Missouri, and I got to use one of the computers. He introduced me to 'Yahoo.com', and I started browsing my favorite PBS shows for about two years, before starting to browse through my favorite singers' sites, and printing out all sorts of piccies of the Spice Girls. ^ .^;

Then when I was about eight or nine, I found TheOtaku.com, when someone got banned for advertising the site at a Dragonball Z forum. Later, I started going to TheOtaku's chat, and after a year of going, I became an Op there, and had to visit more constantly. Last year I finally realized the little button that said 'forum', which I hadn't noticed for a few years, even after going to TheOtaku everyday. Without really browsing first, I just registered. After about two hundred spam posts, I finally got somewhat used to the rules, and started RP'ing with one of my best friends, Mist. ^_^

Last year. I was doing a school project when I stumbled onto something and discovered all the pretty things the internet could do besides get me a download of AIM. Then I bumped into an internet nerd while playing scrabble on-line and he showed me more pretty things and I was like "Ooh," and he was like, "Yeah, I'm a god."

I'm still learning. Snooping into different websites and little places. Great fun.

I've know the internet since fourth grade, but I never really stayed on it as much then as I do now. Now, I have a cool home on the internet. Right here at the OB...I discovered this place when I was looking for a cool digimon site. I use to be Jana' Len Tolliver, but I've grown since then...

The first time I ever got on the internet was when I was in third grade, we had a computer class...It didn't really "capture" my interest.
Back then I was into recess and running around outside with my friends, having mud fights and stuff like that.
So I didn't get on it again unless to look up information on something I had to do research on.
Then in sixth grade every month we had to get a new news report from somewhere. My family doesn't get the newspaper that often so I had no choice but to go on the internet, since then I kind'a just looked around reading random webpages and stuff.

Until we moved last year and Deedlit asked me to join her messageboard, that was the first one I had ever been on. And that was when I learned about avatars and chatrooms etc.
Infact this is the third messageboard I joined.
I'm surprised I remembered all that...
