Best Music News of the Year (at least for me.)

Well, I doubt anyone will care except me but the band Zao (R.I.P. no more :D ) is coming back to record a new album on August 25. The line-up will include : Dan (vocals), Rob (bass), Russ (guitar), Jesse (drums), and Scott (guitar). I'm very excited about this line-up because it's frickin amazing and has not been like this since the release of Liberate Te Ex Inferis , five years ago (now if only Brett(Juliana Theory) would come back, then it could be the same line up as they had on Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest.) This is by far the best music news this year... for me at least.

Okay, this is the second best news this year because I just found out (while making this thread) I got a job (but I know no one cares about that.

Had they been broken up long? I downloaded some songs when you mentioned them in another thread way, way back... but I don't know much about their history.

This is pretty strange... Just the other day, Frank Black (aka Black Francis of the Pixies) basically said there is a good chance for a Pixies reunion and possibly even a new album. Apparently him and his old bandmates are playing together regularly and getting along great... which is a big deal because the band basically broke up because of problems between him and Kim Deal, the bassist.

I felt like I won 10 million dollars when I heard this. They're simply my favorite band ever and nothing can compare... And they're not even for sure yet like Zao seems to be, which probably means you're even more excited heh.

I decided a while back that the one thing I really wanted in life was to get to attend a Pixies concert... something I never thought possible, especially since they broke up in like 1993 lol.

So yeah, I can really relate right now. It's a great feeling isn't it? :D

And congrats on the job heh.

They hadn't broken up for long, about one year (but that was also kind of a reuinion), but it was still sad for me. Especially since they cancelled all the shows in my area and I never had the chance to see them live. Now, hopefully I will :D .
Anyway, congrats on the Pixies, and I hope you get to see them live.

YES! Zao! I know of Zao, they aren't that bad, I've heard of a few of their songs off of MP3.COM and whatnot. That's really where I get a lot of my bands because of the Metalcore Chart it is. :) Zao is pretty good. I like them, I'll check out their CD when it comes out.

I really don't have much to say about Zao except that my sister listens to them and I think, forgive me for using this term, but too scr-emo for me, b/c honestly all they do is scream, but are they really a Christian band also? I have heard that they are, but unfortunately I can't understand a word of what they sing so I can't tell if they are. I will say that, if they are, I am appreciative that they are a band like they are, but are Christians. I think that means a lot to some people, but me a lot. It shows that some adults really have no idea what they are talking about when they put down the music of our time saying that it is "Satan's Music" (no, I have never had this problem, but I know several people who have.)

Love, Kaola

Actually though they are Christians, I don't really consider them a "christain" band, I don't mean that they hide from it but that I see MOST music as good or bad. I think that most people push what's labeled as "christian" music into the bad music catergory based on that label even though some of the "christian" bands have equal if not more talent than some bands that aren't christians. Even some bands that don't write about God, but are on a "christian" record label end up sharing the same fate.
As for Zao, I listen to a lot of hardcore (both "christian" and non-christian) and find that they are one of the best (in my opinion THE best) in the field. As do many of my friends (both Christians and non-Christians).
