Jokopoko
Hey all who have Pkmn R/S, I was wondering how you beat Brawly (3rd Gym Leader) I can't seem to get my Pkmn levels high enought to beat that Machop let alone the Makuhita, HELP ME :(
Kwai
Try capturing a sableye if you're in sapphire. They can't do anything much against ghosts and if they use foresight, switch and switch back. The easiest way to beat them, however, is to get a zubat or golbat since fighting does 1/4 against poison/air.
Jokopoko
I've got the Ruby version, which Pkmn should I get/Evolve? (Ii'm thinking Dustox and Wingull)
Guest Kanoske
well, you could try to catch a ralts on route 102 and raise it till it learns confusion... but their kinda hard to find.
Kwai
Like I said, easiest will be to get a zubat since its poison/flying and fighting attacks really do nothing against those types. Or you can get ralts as Kanoske suggested. I personally used a high level combusken to beat them at their own game :D
Jokopoko
Yeah, the thing about the high levels is I think that this has the same problem as Pkmn Red and Blue. All the wild Pkmn have low levels so it's very hard to raise your levels once you get to Level 12 or around that mark
LastSheikah
Here's a list of Pokemon who should pound Brawly into the ground. Any Poison, Flying, Psychic, Bug and Ghost type Pokemon will have a good type advantage) Dustox (evolve Wurmple into Cascoon (Level 7), then Dustox (Level 10) Tailow (Route 104 or Petalburg Wood) Wingull (Routes 103-109 Ralts (Route 102) Surskit (Route 102) Kadabra (evolve from Abra (Granite Cave) at Level 16) Nincada, (Route 116) Ninjask, (Level 20) or Shedinja (get Nincada to Level 20 with at least one Pokeball and only five Pokemon in Party) Zubat, (Granite Cave) Sableye (Granite Cave, Sapphire only) Most of these Pokemon have a Type advantedge, just don't use any Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, (besides Sableye) or Steel types and you'll be fine. Also, Gust, Confusion, Peck, and Wing Attack moves are handy. If you can't find these Pokemopn or get them to a high enough level, well, er, good luck... :D
Jokopoko
I've looked but I can't find a Sirskit, do they only come out at night?
Guest Crimson Spider
Surskit swarm. There, at any point in time, is a 1% chance of finding one. When they swarm (watch the TV for this) they are much more common.
LastSheikah
But, any other time... Just look very hard around Route 116 for one and eventually it will appear. There's only a few of them, unless they swarm, like said.
GuyYouMetOnline
The strategy I used for Brawly was to skip him, go find Steven(Yes, without using Flash), then proceed to Slateport(You don't need to defeat Brawly to do so. Just deliver the letter to Steven and talk to Mr. Briney). After I collected the two other badges you can get before fighting Norman(your dad), I returned to Dewford and kicked Brawly's ***. noraa_boy
In Ruby, I started off with the fire/fighting pokemon and caught a wingull to deal with the rock gym. I levelled up the wingull to about level 13 to kick the crap out of the rock gym(using water gun), and the rest of the time I was leveling my starter pokemon up. No problems beating Brawly when I got to him. And my starter's final form(Blaziken) slaughthered the elite 4 with the exception of the flying types where I either switched to another pokemon to be the target of "fly" or to use revive on my starter. Actually, now that I think about it, I have not seen any other Surskit. Anyway, back to the topic. I simply used Ralts/Kirla ((I can't remember what it was then)) and flattened Brawly. Ralts can be found on Route 102, but it's slightly rare. It took me a while to find it, it's the same pokemon you help Wally catch. ((If ya don't remember/know...))
