Corey
I went off of OB two days ago with just short of 1400 posts. I go to a concert, take a couple walks, go biking, and then come back today. My post count is at least 10 higher. I don't remember posting, though it could have happened. I just want to inform you guys of a possible glitch. James
I recently updated the counters for the site, which may have affected your post count. But it wouldn't add posts unfairly -- if anything, it'd correct errors. Either that, or you're mistaken...or someone else posted under your account. *shrug*
Dragon Fou Lu
it could be a glitch because i only had 201 posts this morning and i know have 211. and i haven't posted until now.
James
I don't think it's a glitch. Today I updated the counters, which also removes duplicate threads. If anyone has posted in a duplicate thread, then their post count has probably gone down a bit. Or up, depending on where you post. Updating counters is basically just a way of cleaning things up and fixing loose ends. I used it after the spamming today, to clean out all the threads, including older ones.
Syk3
I recently talked with someone who swears that their post count has gone up 160 or so. Here's the conclusion that we came to.. You'll remember that when the Newbie Lounge was deleted, there were people who complained of post count loss, even though you, James, assured them that it couldn't have been because of the deletion of the forum. Coincidentally, this same person tells me that she lost 160 posts when this took place, and that she had posted a good deal in the NL; in just about every single thread for the first five pages. This is what I'm thinking: Even though no one's post count went up in NL because you turned on the option for such, when it was deleted, the software wasn't programmed to take this into account, and subracted all of those posts. When you recently corrected these errors, as you say, it realized it's mistake and added them back up. I just thought I'd share my hypothesis. Perhaps the people who suddenly gained more posts recently had posted in the Newbie Lounge a few times. *shrug*
Sara
That's what I was hypothesizing as well. I think I just jumped up about two or three hundred posts, which is what I went down a few months ago, so..... Yeah. (Yes, I posted there a lot.) Who were the people who were really complaining about their post counts going down?
Syk3
Well, I had remembered people mentioning it shortly after the deletion of the Newbie Lounge. When I looked, I found this thread, which was most likely the one I was thinking about.
