stupid spending

have you ever spent a ridiculous amount of money on something? Not just something anime related. When i was at A-Kon i bought an Argentosoma soundtrack for 37 dollars. The dvd cost a mere 20.

But then again a certain Tabmow forked over some major cash for Nadesico dolls. hahaahha loser. lol

I am also considering buying the first Argentosoma dvd again just to get the collectors box. But will be difficult on food budget. But i figure if split a can of soup to last 2 days i can do it.

I hate spending money so i almost never splurge. But since i was given going away money for college, i invested in a new dog collar. Its a black collar with a linked ring hanging from the center. That was 20 bucks. I've never spent that much on a piece of jewelry.

so tell of your shopping addictions and how they affect your existence.

My shopping "addictions" mostly consist of anime... which is rediculously overpriced... I once spent £20 (about $30 I think) on an RPG rulebook... One I'm probably never going to play. I like reading it, and making up characters... and the pictures are pretty, but I guess all in all it was an impulse buy (and I've bought several more of them since then O_o at least £100 worth!)

Yeah, anime, rpg books and manga -- that's where my money tends to go ^_^;;

I own altogether too many books. It'd be so much easier (and cheaper) just to borrow them from the library....but I can't help it. I like buying books. :whoops:

Art supplies, too, but those get used up, so...that's legit.

I'm the same with art supplies; they cost a ton. Especially when you're using them up so quickly! Ack.

I've spent thousands on art supplies this year alone. It sucks. lol

Other than that...I once bought a $50 Pikachu plushie. I shouldn't have done that, but I couldn't help it. Pikachu is so sickeningly cute.

last year I splurged mostly on anime stuff. I spent almost $40 on my Vash doll 0_o'. then there's the DVD's, wallscrolls, manga, etc., all of which are ridiculously expensive but addictive (the manga didn't cost as much, but $10-15 for each manga starts to add up reeeeeeally quick). I think probably the most expensive anime item I've ever bought was a Fushigi Yuugi OVA boxed set, which cost about $75. sad thing is, I don't really have much to do with anime nowadays, except for a few series. I think I'll keep my Vash doll, Spirited Away artbook, and Marmalade Boy mangas, but I'm gonna try selling everything else.

this year though, I splurged on tickets to Les Miserables. awesome seats, but altogether it cost $140. imo, well worth the money though, I've been dying to see the live performance for forever. it's not the same seeing something on tape as actually being there, ya know?

I buy all sorts of crazy stuff. I own books in the hundreds. I collect a good deal, and have wound up with lots of neat stuff like an original copy of Mein Klampf (with a Nazi stamp), a second edition of Uncle Tom's Cabin and some first prints of Longfellow's poetry books to name a few. It's a nice hobby. I never really spent more than $40 on a book though. There's an entire cubby hole full of them.

Music, I buy many CDs at a time. Same with DVDs. I don't have tons, but I have a decent amount. Most are listed here http://www.guzzlefish.com/collection.php?username=semjaza&x=19&y=7 but the list is incomplete.

Anime... The most expensive thing I bought anime wise was some Ranma 1/2 set for $90. I refuse to buy those region free bootleg versions of those online sites I see people here talk about. I also paid $65 for that 3x3 Eyes DVD set (which I returned since it didn't work, bleh)

Games... Well systems cost a lot in general. The most I ever spent on a game was going to be $75 for Chrono Trigger back when it was new. People try to tell you games were cheaper back then, but that's a bunch of crap. For whatever reason it rang up for $25, so I was happy and didn't complain. System glitch I guess.

Art supplies are expensive too. Markers in particular. I spent about $95 total on all the Prisma Color stuff I needed.

The most expensive thing I personally bought is my 36" Wega HDTV. I bought it spur of the moment, which really pissed off my mom. It was close to $2,000 when all was said and done (including warranties, cables and a progressive scan DVD player). I'm happy with it.

The second most expensive thing I bought was a Nikon Coolpix 4500 camera. That ran about $650 at the time, although I sometimes still see it for like $800.

Clothes... Screw clothes. I don't pay more than $15 for a shirt, if I can help it. My shoes are converse and run about $30 if I'm unlucky.

I mostly just buy stuff I don't need. I like messing around with the stuff I buy though, and I definitely think I get my money's worth. Electronics and such. I don't think I'd care if I didn't get to have it (in fact, in recent months I've bought very little), but I enjoy it all.

Every time a new computer game is published that I have been waiting for, I rush out and spend the $60 for it inset of waiting a week when it is on sale for something like $45. I also used to waste a whole lot of money on White Wolf RPG products, but that never really got off the ground (great games)...I also recently spent about $100 on a pair of tennis shoes, at least I have the escuse that I actualy play tennis.

E-heh-heh-heh... *drops head in shame* For a while I spent $30 per rulebook for Dungeons and Dragons.. Now the game is sort of boring (My brother hates it, my dad thinks it stupid, my friends think I'm a total geek-nerd 'cause of it) and I don't use the books.. The drawings are fun to look at, though.

Oh yeah, and tons and tons of cash is piled out on anime and manga..
X_X
At my low allowance rate, too, it is a miracle that I ever have any extra cash.

Make up and Jewelry. Drives me insane. Jewelry is pretty. Look at all the little rings I can put on my fingers and the bracelets, and oh my! necklaces. And I buy so much of them, but I never wear them because they're uncomfortable and annoying. Maybe I'll hold one in my hand.
I buy make up for similar reasons. I'm a mommy's closet dress up girl. And I waste so much money. I could have bought a new computer. Someone purge me of my sinful ways.

I buy Japanese CDs. Usually if I just get a single, it costs about 10.00 with a huge amount of shipping. Because they are shipping from Japan and all. I usually spend it on that American CDs and anime. Sometimes but vary rarely games. heh

Heh...jewelry. I don't usually wear necklaces or anything--once in a while, I will. But all the stuff I own either cost less than five dollars, or was a gift, heh.

I wear a lot of rings from gumball machines. Those are fun. :whoops:

I once bought a $500,000.00 car, which I really didn't need. Reason is that at the time I already had 5. So, there was no reason at all to buy another car. But, I sold it later on for $150,000.00 to some guy that really wanted it. Other than that one time, when I really had a brain freeze, I am very conservative about my money.

Well, I once bought a bunch of B.S. from a guy...I should have come here, I could've got it for free...

I have a really bad tendancy of going to Borders every other night and buying coffee and books...I've wasted a couple hundred bucks on coffee alone this year.

Well, the one time that I splurged that I SORT OF regret is when I was in DisneyWorld. I had aLOT of spending money this year, but there was this adorable Chinese dress that I wanted from the Chinese store in Epcot. I have ALWAYS wanted a traditional Chinese dress and I have never seen them ANYWHERE. So yes, I spent $85 on that dress. I've only worn it once. I do love it, but I don't see myself doing it enough justice. *Huggles it anyway*

All of my graduation money went down the drain. I bought a bit of anime and had to pay for my apartment. *dies* Well, now I splurge on stuffed animals, the TY ones. The BEANIE BABIES! Gah, I love them to death and I have just rekindled my obsession recently.

I remember back in my old "Dragonball Z obsessed" age, I'd spend a rediculous ammount of money on anything with the name DBZ on them. I would buy a tape with about three episodes on it for something like $15-20 -- I have about 29 of them downstairs. That's not including the money I spent for blank tapes to record even more episodes, lol. And then the action figures, magazines, clothing...the list went on; and stores were able to sell them at high prices because of the popularity at the time.

I havn't really bought anything very rediculous lately, but that's only because I'm saving up to buy Kenshin for $95, heh. =p That isn't too bad, though, something like a dollar an episode. I now know a lot more about average prices and how much they should cost than I did when I liked DBZ, luckily.

EDIT: Oh yes, beanie babies. I used to buy those buy the dozens, filling up a whole big shelf of them. I don't even know why I got them; now that I look back, all they ever did was sit there. Maybe I'll sell them one of these days..

I spend so much on clothes, it's not funny. DaDa, Fubu, Wu-tang, Ruff Rhyders.. all those kind of brands have shirts out for 80$, pairs of jeans out for $100, jackets out for $100... it's too much, yeah. I don't know.. I hate all the clothes you find around for $20 a shirt and so on.. just don't like them. I'd rather spend my money like hell on real expensive clothes for some reason.
