RPG <<Quests of ashtari:The First Quest!!>>

[Sakura]

This is the first of many I hope.

She went to a fortune-teller and the lady reminded Ashtari of those years back then and she remembered.Then she let a surprise on Ashtari.
"Zumara is too old to continue the girl's training.The time has come for you to fetch Maya and take her in as your apprentice."
"What?An apprentice!I can't be slowed down by some young girl!There are so many things that I must do...I have promised to help the people of Kalassia."Ashtari argued but she knew she had to.It was her duty.Ashtari rose and left a bag of food for payment and left towards Zumara's cottage.

The quest will start at Ashtari arriving at Zumara's cottage and picking up Maya.

[b]Bio:[/b]A close friend of Ashtari and Xanthus.Has just met Maya and has become close.Despite his appearance he is very kind and friendly.

[b]Bio:[/b]He is Ashtari's and her group's Arch-nemises,the reason is that he was at his masters dojo that was about a day from his village.When Hiro got back the village was burned down and only one survived.The survivor told Hiro it was Ashtari and her group.But the information the villager gave him was incorrect,for it was actually a group of raiders from an enemy village.So with vengence in his blood Hiro searches to find Ashtari and her group.

[b]Bio:[/b]He is a assassian that was sent by Hiro Tanahama to kill Ashtari.His pass is unknown,but he was a member of a wealthy family,but nevered like the way of wealth that he nevered earned.He took the way of a assasin.He would never kill a lady...well a pretty one.

[b]Bio:[/b]Girlfriend of Hiro she has stuck by him his whole life. Although learning a different style of fighting, they are a good team. Hiro seems to be the leader but sometimes Eiko defies him now and then.Has betrayed Hiro for Xanthus but has now returned to Hiro's side.

[b]Bio:[/b]A grizzled veteran of several foreign wars, Lennol has developed a taste for action and fighting.He was roaming through a forest,toting the carcass of a dead boar behind him,when he met Hiro.They talked and Hiro convinced Lennol that life working for him would be more than enough to satisfy his need for fighting.

Ashtari walked through the meadow.She could see Zumara's cottage a little far off.

She remembered when she was a child and a student of Zumara.But Zumara was more than a teacher to Ashtari.She had raised Ashtari ever since she was 3 years old.She taught Ashtari almost everything she knows.Memories of her childhood of training and Zumara flashed through her mind.Then when she was about 14 she left the cottage of Zumara."You are ready.Now you must go and help others.Use what I have taught you." Those were the words that Zumara had told her before she left.Ashtari was reluctant to go but Zumara made her.She left sadly and silently promised she would make Zumara proud and use what teachings she had learned.

She roamed the land of Arcadia going around helping those in need.Then she saw the burning village.She ran to it and saw that there were dead bodies lying in the muddy streets.Raiders had come to the village and killed the villagers.She began to get water and started to exstinguish the flames.Then she saw it.There was a cot hidden behind a wooden chest.Ashtari was almost afraid to look in case she didn't like what she saw but then she saw there was a baby girl inside and she was alive.The strange thing was she was very calm and was not crying.As soon as their eyes met Ashtari knew that the girl was special.She rescued the baby and left the ruined village whos flames had died away and began the journey back to Zumara's house.

When she arrived at Zumara's house Zumara was surprised.Then Ashtari showed her the baby girl.Zumara took the girl in and said she would train her and teach her.Then Ashtari left again.

Soon after that she discovered she had a younger brother by the name of Xanthus.Ashtari set out to find him as her only known family.Soon they were united and she discovered he was very mischievous and liked to play with girls' hearts.Then they travelled together helping people.They met more friends and usually travelled together.

All the memories flashed through her mind and she smiled.Xanthus was off in a village after she told him she had to pick up an apprentice after seeing the fortune-teller.And she would meet Kish later.

She arrived at the cottage and took a deep breath before knocking the door.Ashtari waited patiently holding her breath.The door opened and a young girl stood in the door.

[COLOR=blue]Girl:Hello.Do you need business from Zumara?[/color]
[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:Uh no...My name is Ashtari.I'm here to pick up Maya.[/COLOR]

The girl looked shocked before asking Ashtari to wait a moment while she got Zumara.Ashtari waited again and soon she saw the familiar figure of Zumara.

[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:Zumara!How are you!![/COLOR]
Zumara:Ah I'm doing well!!Maya get her a cup of tea!

The girl nodded and rushed off into the house.

[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:That's Maya?![/COLOR]
Zumara:Yes.Timid little thing isn't she?

Ashtari smiled.Zumara always liked to joke.

Zumara:Well what are you doing standing in the door?Come in!!Welcome back!
[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:Thankyou.It's good to be back.[/color]
Zumara:You must stay for a few nights!!

Ashtari was about to argue but saw the stubborn look on Zumara's face and agreed and entered the cottage where she had been raised up.Despite the years it still looked exactly the same...

Zumara ushered Ashtari inside and Maya brought out two cups of tea for her elders. They sat in the front room of the house and Ashtari took her cup of tea without a word of thanks. Zumara smiled at the little girl, and she tugged on Zumara's cloak, mutely asking her to step into the other room so they could talk.

Zumara looked puzzled, but stood up. "Excuse me for a second, Ashtari," she said, and they went into the other room.

The second they were out of earshot, Maya began complaining. "[color=blue]Zumara, do I [i]have[/i] to go with her?[/color]" she said desperately.

Zumara laughed. "Why, Maya, what's wrong with her?" she said, knowing exactly what she was going to say.

"[color=blue]I don't know,[/color]" Maya said, downcast. "[color=blue]She's kind of scary and I don't think she really wants me as her apprentice, at all. And -- and Zumara, I don't want to leave you![/color]"

Zumara just laughed again. "I'm sure you guys will warm up to each other, eventually," he promised. "After all, you're both my girls!"

Outside, Ashtari was able to hear every word she said. She smiled when Zumara called her one of her girls, then her eyes narrowed. [i][color=navy]Scary, huh?[/color][/i] she thought to herself. [i][color=navy]This could be a long apprenticeship.[/color][/i]

[Jubei Yagyou]

[COLOR=green]Hiro: So where do you think they are Hidetoshi?[/COLOR]

[COLOR=orange]Hidetoshi: Dunno, but we gotta find Eiko and Lennol.[/COLOR]

To men were walking through a forest. Both about medium height and small but muscular bodies. And both with traditional chinese suits. One with a white suit, and one with a black suit. The one in the white suit had jet black hair, and a spear on his back horizontally. The other man in the black suit had dark brown straight hair, with a masamune horizontally on his back also.

[COLOR=green]Hiro: They are in the next village about two days away. Once we get there we are getting Ashtari, got it.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=orange]Hidetoshi: Sure.[/COLOR]

[Sakura]

Zumara re-entered the room followed by a fidgetting Maya.
Zumara sat in a chair opposite of Ashtari.There was only one chair left and it was next to Ashtari.Maya sat unsurely and got a cup of tea.Zumara picked up her cup and sipped carefully.Ashtari sipped at her tea.

[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:This is the herbal tea you used to make for me Zumara.[/COLOR]
Zumara:I'm glad you still remember.
[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:How could I forget?[/COLOR]

Maya sat uncomfortably in her chair as she drank her tea.
Ashtari put down her cup and looked at Maya with a firm look.Maya shrank back and quivered under Ashtari's gaze.

[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:You have changed a lot since the first time I saw you.[/COLOR]
[COLOR=blue]Maya:Y-Y-You saw me before?I don't remember...[/COLOR]
[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:You wouldn't have remembered.It was when you were a baby.I saved you from your ruined village and brought you here to Zumara.The raiders didn't see you in your cot behind a chest.I knew you were special.[/COLOR]
[COLOR=blue]Maya:I never knew that...What happened to my parents?[/COLOR]

Ashtari and Zumara's eyes met.

[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:Have you not told her?[/COLOR]
Zumara:No.I feared she could not take it.But it is time.
[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:*takes a deep breath*Your parents were killed by the raiders.They lay in the street outside your house covered in blood and mud like many other villagers.I would not have gone to the village if not for the flames and the smoke I saw.I helped to put out the fire.The raiders were long gone and there were no surviving villagers except you and one other man who had some how escapd.Maybe there were others that were not in the village at the time.They stole all the valuable possessions and fled.I'm sorry Maya.[/color]

Maya was frozen with shock and horror of the tale.She looked up at Ashtari with tears in her eyes.Ashtari felt sorry for the young girl.She was only 13 and already a large and heavy burden placed on her shoulders.

Zumara:This is the reason I was reluctant to tell.I was afraid of what would happen to the happy,cheery Maya I had gotten used to.

Ashtari reached into her pocket and brought out a hankerchief and held it out to Maya kindly.Maya paused and then accepted it with gratitude and a small thanks.Ashtari and Zumara smiled despite the sadness because Maya was warming to Ashtari.

Zumara:This is hard on you Maya.Maybe you should go lie down and have a sleep.Ashtari will be staying for a few days.

Maya hickupped and nodded.She weakly rose from her chair and slowly made her way to her room.

Zumara:That was hard on the young girl.
[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:I agree but she had to know sooner or later.[/COLOR]

Zumara nodded and they picked up their cups of tea finishing the herbal drink inside.Zumara moved into Maya's chair and began to talk to Ashtari about the old times and what she had been doing and what new things she had learned.They began to talk happily but inside Ashtari's heart strained for the pain of knowing.Ashtari had gone through that too.Until she had found her long lost younger brother Xanthus.

Maya lay on her bed and stared at the ceiling of her room. Ashtari's handkerchief was still in her hand, but she had stopped crying some time ago. She was still thinking about what she had learned. Her parents ... died in a fire so long ago. And Zumara had known all this time ... Maya shook off the sudden flare of anger. It was no use being mad at Zumara, she had simply been trying to protect her.

She didn't need protecting ... she didn't want protecting anymore. With the new knowledge of what had happened to her parents, Maya was suddenly glad that she would be leaving. Not because she wanted to leave Zumara, but because she wanted to [i]do[/i] something, not just lie here in bed while other villages might be suffering, like hers had years ago ...

Maya jumped out of bed, unable to stay still anymore. She grabbed her bow and quiver of arrows and walked just outside Zumara's cottage, where there was a small target range that she had practiced on ever since she was big enough to handle the weapons. She aimed at the target with her arrows and let go. She continued for several minutes, caught up in the satisfying smack of the arrows into the target.

[color=navy]Ashtari: You're not too bad with that thing.[/color]

Startled, Maya lowered her bow and arrow and realized Ashtari was next to her, watching.

[color=navy]Ashtari: No, don't let me stop you. Continue practicing, if you'd like.[/color]

A little unnerved, Maya kept practicing. At first she was nervous, but after a while, she was able to ignore Ashtari's presence and her aim returned to normal.

[color=navy]Ashtari: Nice job. It might even be helpful to have you around on my journeys.[/color]

Maya took this as a great compliment.

[color=blue]Maya: So ... What weapon do you use?[/color]
[color=navy]Ashtari: Oh, I can pretty much get by with any weapon.[/color]
[color=blue]Maya: Really?[/color]

In response, Ashtari took Maya's bow and arrow and aimed at the target. Her expert shot hit the target in the dead center of the bulls-eye.

[color=blue]Maya: Wow ... nice job. Um ... so where exactly are we going to be going, when we leave here?[/color]
[color=navy]Ashtari: Well ... there's my brother Xanthus, we should go pick him up. And I was also planning to help the people of Kalassia. Don't worry, there will be plenty to occupy us once we really get out into the land of Arcadia, and that'll be as soon as Zumara lets us go![/color]

Maya smiled at Ashtari's joke. Suddenly, she was excited to leave, although she still knew she'd miss Zumara. It sounded so interesting out there ...

[Ben]

"[COLOR=teal]You must be slipping old boy.[/COLOR]" drawled Lennol as he stepped out from behind a tree, directly in Hiro's path. "[COLOR=teal]I've been following the two of you for several hours now.[/COLOR]"

"[COLOR=green]Curse you Lennol, had it ever occurred to you to show yourself?[/COLOR]" asked Hiro.

"[COLOR=teal]Of course it did." replied Lennol. "I just didn't feel like it yet.[/COLOR]"

"[COLOR=orange]Where's Eiko?[/COLOR]" asked Hidetoshi.

"[COLOR=teal][I]He's[/I] still two days ahead of us.[/COLOR] answered Lennol, absently scratching his neck. "[COLOR=teal]We'd better keep moving and catch up with him.[/COLOR]"

[Sakura]

Soon it was the day to leave.Ashtari had stayed for 3 days.Zumara was sad and gave them her best horses as presents.Ashtari accepted gracefully and bid her a very fond goodbye hoping to see her again.Ashtari saw that Maya wanted to have some time alone with Zumara so she went outside and began to saddle and load the horses with the supplies Zumara had given them for help.Ashtari put on the blanket before the saddle,spurs,reins and lastly the saddle bags.Ashtari grabbed a brush and combed their coats.Ashtari sighed and grabbed their reins and led them out the gate and tied the reins to a fence.She walked back and saw it was a teary farewell for Maya.Soon she had finished and said her final goodbye and they untied the reins and mounted.Ashtari and Maya took a last look and waved goodbye to Zumara.Ashtari put her horse into a trot and Maya slowly followed.

It was midday and the sun was burning down on the woman and the girl.They rode to the side of the path where there was some trees to give them shade.Ashtari saw a figure ahead and brought her horse into a canter.Maya quickly followed Ashtari's example.When they arrived Maya saw a man...or was it a dog.He had a human figure but had elongated furry ears,a moist black,slightly flattened nose,patches of brown fur on his skin,and his hands had fur on them and ended in sharp claws.
[color=navy]Ashtari:This is Maya...My apprentice.[/color]

Maya stared at the creature.

[COLOR=chocolate]Dog-Man:Take a good,long look.[/COLOR]

Maya hadn't realised she was staring.

[COLOR=blue]Maya:Oh I'm sorry...[/COLOR]
[COLOR=chocolate]Kish:It's ok.I get used to it.[/COLOR]
[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:Do you want to ride with me Kish?[/COLOR]
[COLOR=chocolate]Kish:No.I think I'll ride with Maya if she doesn't mind.[/COLOR]

Ashtari nodded and Kish got behind Maya.

[COLOR=darkblue]Ashtari:We're headed to Moras to pick up my younger brother Xanthus.[/COLOR]

Maya and Kish began to have a conversation about things.
Suddenly a man jumped out from the cliffs around them.He had a large scythe with a large red blade.He began to slash at Ashtari with the scythe.Ashtari leapt from her horse.Kish unsheathed his blade and threw it.Ashtari pushed off the ground hard and caught it.Kish dismounted and told Maya to stay.He ran towards them with his claws.Ashtari and the man were fighting with their blades and using hand to hand combat in between.

[color=navy]Ashtari:Why are you trying to kill me?![/color]

The man didn't respond and continued to attack.Kish came from behind and grabbed him by the shoulders.Kish pushed him against a cliff wall and Ashtari came up with the Broad Sword pressed against his neck.

[color=navy]Ashtari:I'll ask you one more time!Why are you trying to kill me?![/color]

The man growled and finally spoke.

[color=red]Man:I'm an assassin sent by Hiro Tanahama to assasinate you and your group.[/color]
[color=navy]Ashtari:Why?![/color]
[color=red]Man:I don't know!The client doesn't give details like that.[/color]

Ashtari glared and moved away.

[color=navy]Ashtari:Well looks like you failed your mission!What is your name assassin?[/color]
[color=red]Man:My name is....Kinomen Nimtoen.I am known as Ki.[/color]
[color=navy]Ashtari:So now what are you going to do?[/color]
[color=red]Ki:Umm....I was thinking...If I could join you in your quest.[/color]
[color=navy]Ashtari:What makes you think I'll take in a criminal like yourself.How do I know that you're not going to kill me when I'm unaware?Anyways my job is to get rid of people like you![/color]
[color=red]Ki:I don't like the life of crime any longer.I always get bad clients and bad jobs.[/color]
[color=navy]Ashtari:How do I know you're not lying to me?[/color]
[color=red]Ki:I swear to Kelari.She is the goddess I worship and the most highest and greatest of all my gods.If I lie may she strike me down.[/color]

Ki drew a sign with his and before kneeling and bowing forewards until his forehead touched the ground.

[color=navy]Ashtari:You look sincere.I may regret it later but you may come with us.You will ride behind me and don't try anything or you'll be struck down by that Kelasi.[/color]
[color=red]Ki:Her name is Kelari!How dare you mock her?![/color]

Ashtari pried his scythe from his hands and passed it to Kish.

[color=navy]Ashtari:Just for safe keeping.[/color]

Ashtari mounted and Ki got on behind her.They rode silently but on the other horse it was not so quiet.There was a conversation going on between the young girl and the dog-man.

Maya followed Ashtari, slightly uncomfortable with the dog-man Kish riding on the horse behind her. She felt like she could trust him, though. After all, he had leapt off the horse to protect Ashtari. After a few moments of silence, Kish spoke.

[color=orange]Kish: I guess we haven't really been properly introduced. My name is Kish, and I'm a loyal friend of Ashtari's.[/color]
[color=blue]Maya: I'm Maya, Ashtari's new apprentice. So where did you two ... meet?[/color]
[color=orange]Kish: In the village of Histrina. She was battling a company of thieves who were coming to raid the village, and I jumped in to help her. The rest is history.[/color]
[color=blue]Maya: Wow. That sounds like fun.[/color]
[color=orange]Kish: Heh. I guess.[/color]

They rode on for another little while without talking. Maya decided that since Kish had taken the initiative last time, it was probably her turn. She spoke quietly, not wanting the man riding with Ashtari to hear.

[color=blue]Maya: Can you believe Ashtari was willing to trust that assassin so easily?[/color]
[color=orange]Kish: Ashtari has reasons for everything she does. We should trust her, and because of that, we should trust the assassin.[/color]
[color=blue]Maya: ... I guess you're right. It's still a little creepy, with him riding right behind her like that all the way. I mean ... what if he made a move or something??[/color]

Kish looked at Maya in surprise, then laughed.

[color=blue]Maya: What??[/color]
[color=orange]Kish: I'm just surprised at how precocious you are, for someone so young.[/color]
[color=blue]Maya: I'm thirteen years old! I know what's going on in the world.[/color]
Kish laughed again.
[color=orange]Kish: Then you'd better watch out for Xanthus, I think.[/color]
[color=blue]Maya: Ashtari's brother? Why?[/color]
[color=orange]Kish: No reason.[/color]

[I]Ki felt a sharp pain as he feel off Ashari's steed.His head hit the hard ground.The two others stoped.[/I]

[COLOR=blue]Girl:We never thought that would happen.....[/COLOR]

[I]The dog boy and her laughed......[/I]

[COLOR=red]Ki:I could hear you you know,Kish and Maya.[/COLOR]

[I]They looked at him,and he smiled as he saw there faces.[/I]

[COLOR=red]Ki:Will....I guss I'll go back and talk to Ashtari.You children bore me....[/COLOR]
