Mega Man

I myself am a huge Capcom fan and I've been dying to play the NES Megaman titles ever since I became a fan of the series with MMX for the SNES.

Well, in the past hour I played the 1st. The whole hour was spent playing Cutsman's stage, and I still have not beaten it. How hard this game is, is simply astounding! :drunk: I never expected a NES title to be so hard. I was planning on beating it today, and then playing #2 tommorow, but I don't think I'll be able to.

Has anyone else played the original MM? If so, why do you think it's so hard? Is it hard, or do I just suck? I'd like to know, honestly. :p

Edit: Oh and just another little tidbit, expect me to be starting a lot of SNES and NES related topics in the future.

Yeah, you shouldn't be surprised that you're having a hard time with the NES Mega Man games. They're notorious for being extremely difficult. But that doesn't mean that they're not good games. Those old Mega Man games are still some of my favorite games on the NES. And, remember, this was when Capcom still had some originality when they were making up names for the Mega Man bosses.

The original is probably the hardest in the series. Everything on is substantially easier. I never had a problem with the other NES Mega Man games. Mega Man 8 was incredibly easy as well, same with the X series.

I still have yet to finish the first one, but I've not played it for years. I always had a problem on Guts Man's stage.

What the? Gutsman? Cutsman? o_O You guys have trouble with the weirdest things! Haha, I thought electroman was the toughest of the bunch, especially with his range and the amount of damage one hit took off!

Anyway, yeah, Mega Man 1 was the hardest of all the ones I have played. Well, to be fair, it was really only electroman that made the game challenging. On the other hand, I haven't played the game in a long time, and remember very little (excuse me while I oscillate my opinion :)). Maybe it was just the hardest thing in the game and it stayed in my head...

It was funny because I remember finally being able to beat him without using his weakness on him (because I couldn't figure out what it was), and then
I figured out how to use Gutsman's ability!
Haha, they should have drawn you a picture for that one!

You're going to love part 2! I remember Flashman's stage the best. Haha, in my opinion, part 2 of Mega Man created twitch gaming! You had to immediately realize the most efficient route or else you were screwed! Granted, you could use that ability (I'm trying not to spoil any of the surprises and fun :D), but that wouldn't get you through it all. Then there was the platforms that you had to be quick at! Sweetness... They would give you time to practice, but then it was all or nothing. Good times... :whoops:

It wasn't your fault Semjaza Azazel (you need a nickname :p) it was my typo. I just put an 's' after cut in Cutman. So he thought I was trying to say Gutsman. :\

Well, I now have beaten Cutman's Stage and I'm working on Gutsman's Stage. I have a feeling this is going to take me a while to get through all of them. O_o

Edit: Fixed typo

I never had much trouble w/ cutman. Snakeman though...... I didn't reset that game for days cause I kept it paused forever when I entered the saved game code wrong and had 999 lives :). Never able to reproduce that incorrect code though :(.

MM3 is my favorie,(Protoman is really cool and so is Rush), but I can see why MM2 is most people's favorite. I only own 2,3,and 4 but I've played all the original ones through rentals. I even still have a faded code to reach Wiley's level in MM6 written on one of those little stickers that come w/ blank video tapes; it's stuck on my NES lid. Original Megaman rules!

Why would we consider it a MMBN game? The original Megaman series and the Battle Network series are in completely parallel universes...Or something.

Personally, I prefer the SNES version of MM&B...They screwed up the music when they put it on GBA...

I remember spending an entire day, from ten in the morning to eleven at night trying to beat Mega Man. I had managed to make it all the way to the end, and I was feeling fantastic as it was a great feeling knowing that I had made it that far. I was a bit agitated that there was no Password system in the original Mega Man, but it didn't really matter since I was too drawn in to even think of stopping anyway. I had made it to that stupid green blob thing with the one eye, never found out it's name, then just as I was about to beat the damned thing the Nintendo froze up on me!! I went nuts, and was so close to just smashing my Nintendo but I stopped just for my hand made contact. Anyway, I haven touched it since. It drains too much energy from me.
