AzureWolf
Thanks Solo. I couldn't really tell there was a difference/change when the people interacted with the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, and the dinosaurs were very well-done. I know the dinos were mostly CG, but, like I said, there seemed to be no difference. I don't see why animatronics would be bad for duel monsters if they can recreate models, such as dinosaurs, so well.
Solo Tremaine
I think they'd be alright for close-ups, certainly for things like Kuriboh. There's only so much that CGI can actually do, and you can often always tell when something's animated on computer. Having an actual furball next to Yugi or whatever would look much more realistic than a computer-genetrated one. But, that said, you can't use animatronics for the entire monster, usually- especially if it's something as big and complex as a Blue Eyes, you really need computer imaging. The amount of detail and movement you need for something like that is enormous, more than can (at the moment, anyway) be accomplished by a remote-controlled robot. gpeowyn
i havent seen malcom in the middle for a wile but am i the only one who cant see him as yami? hayden would be great as seto i have a friend and teacher who would fip if orlando blom was realy doing that. the legaolas fan would not forgive him for being a evil. heey he played tom riddle (young voldemort) he's cute he can do it its not so much the look be the acting by the way i read this in another forum cam any one make heads or tials of it
source: Variety Warner Bros. out to license new Yu-Gi-Oh movie currently in production According to Variety, "Warner Bros. is in negotiations to acquire worldwide distribution rights (excluding Asia) to the film, which is currently in production in Japan." Warner Bros. president Dan Fellman is reported to be overseeing the talks and is expected to finalyze a deal with 4Kids within the next 2 weeks. There has already been one Yu-Gi-Oh! movie produced in Japan, a 30 minute film that has yet to be released in North America. Solo Tremaine
Well, if it's in production in Japan then I guess there won't be any big-name castings from the US, then. I'm still doubtful as to whether it'll work. And dubbing live-action often comes off a lot worse than dubbing anime. Another thing- gpeowyn, could you try and improve your post quality a bit? That's quite hard to read and understand in places.
Guest Forbidden One
As far as I'm aware there are currently no pre or post productions of a Yugioh live action film in Japan. Especially since they haven't even finished the season after Battle Tower just yet.

Luminaire
Oh dear....>reads anime insider< I just got this a few days ago and it has an article about possible casting recommendations for a live-action Yu-Gi-Oh movie. Article says:
Live-action duelists? A real Blue Eyes White Dragon? In this age of the anime boom, a live-action Yu-Gi-Oh! film is becoming more and more possible; North-American, live action versions of smashes Dragon Ball Z and Lupin the 3rd are already in the planning stages. Could today's hottest kids' craze be in for a medium jump? We'd like to see a live-action Yu-Gi-Oh~, to reflect what a monster(excuse the pun) success the show is in the States. To help steer those movie execs in the direction of our King of Games, we've got some hot casting suggestions to fill their decks! Frankie Muniz as Yugi Mutoh Mega-hit Yu-Gi-Oh! needs a mega-hit leader, and Frankie as the loveable dork in Malcolm in the Middle is a perfect mesh with Yugi. For those personality-switching moments, Frankie's got the talent to pull off Yugi's competent, dangerous alter-ego Yami Yugi; get the right wig and we can't see Yugi any other way. Shawn Ashmore as Joey Wheeler This Animorphs and X-men star's to play pretty tough-guy Joey. Plus, Shawn's got sweet down pat(and we all know Joey's a big softie deep down). The only irony will be seeing Iceman whip outhis Flame Swordsman. Julia Stiles as Mai Valentine Mai's got attitude. Mai's got greed. Mai's gotta be played by a chick in charge. If you can think of a razor-sharp female who makes men shrink better than Julia--like she did in Ten Things I Hate About You--we'd like to hear it. Christian Coulson as Bakura Having Voldemort as your creepy classmate would certainly make school more interesting. Christian's role as the schoolboy-turned-evil from Harry Potter isn't far from what he'd have to play as dark and mysterious schoolboy Bakura; now all he needs is one very nifty ring. Hayden Christensen as Seto Kaiba Granted we don't think Kaiba's quite on the track to super-villiandom, but the Boy Who Will Be Vader can still make an effectively eerie rival. Hayden definitely has the intimidating glare to pull off Yugi's ill-tempered adversary; he sported it for an entire quarterof Star Wars: Episode II. Emma Watson as Tea Gardner Since she has to chase dangermagnets Harry Potter and Ro Weasley around, Emma's sweetness is laced with the firm backbone required to keep stupid young men in line. Wait--stupid young men? Like Yugi and (especially) Joey? That does sound like Tea, doesn't it? Orlando Bloom as Maximillion Pegasus If you were asked to pick one young man who can pull off silver hair, Orlando as Legolas from Lord of the Rings would probably come to mind. Orlando's also got the appeal to make the ultimate villian and Duel Monsters creator(and Millenium Eye holder) appropiately charming. Yowza! Jerry Stiller as Grandpa A comedian who's been around for year, Jerry(who played George's father in Seinfeld) is both sweet and strange enough to put a wacky spin on the part of Yugi's game-loving grandfather. Plus, Jerry is short enough to play Yugi's near-midget mentor.
My good ness, that was long. That's all possible info. So, if you are waiting for or dreading a live YGO movie here it is. Out of all the parts named, I think only Hayden Christensen as Seto Kaiba would would. O_o;;; ~Lumi ^_^
DVL
Oh lord...they're going to RUIN Yu-Gi-Oh, aren't they? Geez...just trying to pull off Yugi/Yami's hairstyle in live-action sounds like a nightmare to me. And yeah, Hayden Christensen as Kaiba is probably the only one that would work. Though Emma Watson as Tea isn't as bad as it could be...it makes more sense than some of the others.
Solo Tremaine
*merges threads* I still don't like the idea. I really don't.
Ben
I don't think that Orlando Bloom could pull off being Pegasus. He's got the charm, just not the temperament for a calmly psychotic soul-stealer/genius.
Shy
You know, the artical said absolutely nothing to confirm the development o f a Yu-Gi-Oh live action movie. Anime Insider (owned by Wizard Magazine) has a regular column where they possible casting for live-action anime movies. They have done it before with other series, but it's all really for fun. Although I have to admit that Julia Stiles would be a perfect Mei... -Shy
Solo Tremaine
Oh, I see... Duh, I didn't realise this was entirely rumour-driven/inspired, heh. Either way, with rumours flying around everywhere, I hope it's not something that the studios decide to make. The casting would need a lot of work and thought put into it- I think a lot of those 'cast' by Anime Insider are based too much on superficiality. I still don't think it'll work, personally. I'm not sure any live-action anime can work, unless of course the characters are different. With something as stylised as Yu-Gi-Oh finding a face to fit the face could be difficult. Luminaire
Personally, I would switch a few people around. Orlando Bloom should do Bakura. Yes, that would work. O_o When I first saw it, I nearly died. In the middle of the bookstore MistressRoxie and I were shopping in I yelled "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" and then started the mantra of "they're lying, they can't do it". I was "upset". When I read the article I was laughing so hard, I had to find a place to sit or I would have fallen over and rolled around laughing. The store owner thought I was having an asthma attack. O_o Frankie Muniz, won't work. The hair, the face itself, and the eyes. Look at Yugi's eyes, they're HUGE. They will have to like put stickers or something over Frankie's real eyes. Same goes for the other characters. They are gonna look really weird without those big eyes that symbolize who they are(dramatic, I know). >sighs< The Blue Eyes White Dragon would look really cool probably. And, I think the person to play Pegasus should be the guy who played Caesar in Gladiator. Don't ask me why, I just think it would wok really well. ~Lumi ^_^ P.S.: Solo, next time you merge a thread like that, could you PM the person? I thought you deleted it or something. Fixed colour tags. And I will, Lumi. Ben
I saw a commercial for Yu-Gi-Oh Booster packs the other day and it had a fairly good representation of the Blue-Eyes and Exodia in like...non-cartoon form. They were actually pretty cool looking.
Kei
I was talking about that the other day. They were actually very well done. Though, like many, I don't believe a live-action Yu-Gi-Oh! movie would be a good thing if it were ever made, it may be interesting just to see what the monsters would look like rendered in 3-D like in the commercial. Personally, I think Haley Joel Osment could pull off a good Yugi.... *dodges sharp objects thrown at her*
Hyper
3-D monsters would rock. It'd work well Duel Disks and whatnot. Exodia looked awesome-er than it usually did. And Blue-Eyes was impressive. 3-D monsters would be the best way to go, in my opinion. Orlando Bloom could be a good Pegasus. And Kierra Kngihtly could be Cecelia! I don't care too much about everything else...I just hope they don't mess up the series if they evr made a movie. (Don't worry Lady K, Haley Joel Osement would be an awesome Yugi...or at least better than Frankie Muniz...:p)
Solo Tremaine
It's not the monsters I'm bothered about- with CGI effects capable of the things in the Final Fantasy movie I'm sure they'd be really fantastic -it's the human characters that would worry me. I wouldn't mind so much if it were to be computer animated, but even then the style'd be considerably different and would need getting used to. Snodin
(Newbie Alert!) I dunno about a live action movie, but yesterday while watching X-Men: Evolution, I saw a live-action/CGI commercial for the Yu-Gi-Oh card game. There was this tall guy that reminded me of Kaiba right off the bat, even before he pulled out his Blue-Eyes card. He seems to me like he'd make a great live-action Kaiba. (Did anybody else see this commercial?) Of course, the REAL problem with making a live action Yu-Gi-Oh movie would be to find somebody that can make Yugi's hairdo work in real life.... (thinks about the possibility, then cracks up laughing) Ahem... Yeah.
Burori
Yah I saw the same commercial. LOL And I swear at first I thought that it was the preview for the live movie. They can pull it off I think.
Snodin
That's what I thought, too! I was like, "Woah, it's real now-" and then the ad popped up, and I kinda got disappointed. I hope that if they do go through with it, they re-hire that guy to be Kaiba. :-)
Burori
Me too. ^_^ who do you think would really play yugi though. Or better yet who'll play bakura
Snodin
Part of the joke/rumor is that Frankie Muniz would play Yugi..... I strongly hope that he's not the one to do it, because there's nothing about him- looks, personality, age- that reminds me of Yugi. My thoughts are that IF they were to make a live-action movie, they'd hire a "nobody" with blonde hair (or at least blonde highlights) and is at least 15 or 16 years of age to play Yugi/Yami. And he'd vave to be **really** good to play the dual roles. As for Bakura, I guess anybody who just plays the role right could be him, and he wouldn't have to dye his hair white. And I guess the same can be said for the rest of the cast- they just have to be at the right age, and really play the roles to heart.
Digital Monster
In whatever form it's being made, Yu-Gi-Oh! will be getting a film version. Check out the latest Lelola update.
