Armadillomon
I hope there isn't already a thread about this. I just read in the newspaper today about a councilman in New York City who was murdered by a political rival. The shooter was then killed by a plainclothes policeman. This made me wonder how in the world the gunman was able to get a gun into the city building in NYC. You'd think there'd be security in NYC after 9/11. I read on to learn that the reason the guy was able to get his gun into the building is because he accompanied the councilman into the building, and people who hold public office don't have to go through metal detectors. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE?!?!?!?!?! (BTW, New York is now rewriting their security policy so that it requires public officials to go through security checkpoints as well.) Has anyone else heard about this? Please post your opinions.
eleanor
I think their rule about letting councilman without going through the metal detector is stupid. Who cares if they're councilman? The world is full of lying people, anyway. I think it's sad, actually, to kill someone just because they're your rival and you're jealous of him/her. It's just...STUPID! zidane11
Well I think having all those metal detectors is a good idea but it's not like this is a common occurense. Besides why would it make a difference if the terrorist attack was in NYC or not. It could have been somewhere else so security should have been raised nationwide. Not just in NYC. That's my opinion. Guest Randleman
Metal detectors are pointless. If someone wants to do a terrorist attack, they are not going to do it with a gun. They are going to drive/fly a truck/plane full of fuel/explosives into the building. Alot of good a metal detector would do then. They discourage 99% of people who want to try to sneak in weapons. But for the 1% that want's too, they are probably smart enough to find ways around the detector, so as not to get caught. Like the guy who went in with the councilmen.
