Anime episodes: shaken or stirred?

I was really wondering why anime is setup the way it is. I've seen so many times in an anime where they end the episode in an amazing cliffhanger, only to spoil it by revealing the aftermath in the preview. Some animes don't, but I've noticed that most do. One example would be Noir: one episode's title is overly labeled, being dubbed "The True Noir." Not only that, but they do a good job of showing you this "True Noir" just before they give you the name of the episode. Hmm... I wonder what's been going on...

Now, this "style" (I guess you would call it that) isn't necessarily bad. Sometimes it creates a great amount of anticipation for what happens, as it did for that aforementioned Noir episode. Unfortunately, that anticipation is at the cost of the suspense, since you know what's going to happen, but you just have to see how wonderfully everything unfolds. You know, what you preview never recreates the effect of the episode in its entirety. So, this statement finally leads to the point of this thread...

Which do you prefer: suspense or anticipation?

Suspense: "Anxiety or apprehension resulting from an uncertain, undecided, or mysterious situation."

Anticipation: "Previous view or impression of what is to happen; instinctive prevision; foretaste; antepast; as, the anticipation of the joys of heaven."

Lol, I prefer suspense mived perfectly with anticipation, of course! I love it when an anime does that, it's very good....for some part.

Sometimes the preview does ruin it, and I hate that. As for the title thing...it never gave me a problem when I was watching anime. Some animes do an excellent job of making you want to see the next episode, some don't. It just depends for me...

I enjoy suspense more than anticipation. The first time I watch a series, I never watch the previews for the following episode. I think that every now and again those previews tend to spoil the actual episode. If I am ?re-watching? a series I will then go back and watch the previews. Some shows, such as Hellsing, have really funny and bizarre previews?

Personally I enjoy having the end spoiled, just so long as what led up to the end is not spoiled.

For instance, if a fight scene ends halfway in one episode and I know how ends in the next I do not mind (since the "How and Why" are what interest me). However, if the fight comes down to "are they alive or dead" I would not want to have that ruined (since the "How and Why" have been answered already).

I have strange tastes in how I do things. :p

I like Suspense more than in Anticipation becaues it allows to make ur own preview like for example Big O for there Previews all they give yah is so guy saying the tilte of the next eipsode which i think is kool caues it lets u think whats going to happen in the next eipsode. I mean when i first saw the preview for the eipsode R.D. i was up all night trying to figure out what that means.

suspence is the best like in .hack it is very enjoyable because you have no idea what is happening in the next eisode but they waste time by going over old episodes.

Anticipation is okay but, I prefer suspense because I like to try and guess what's going to happen next and see if I'm right or not.
When you know basically what's going to happen, it takes the fun out of being surprised and that's even if you are going to be surprised by what will happen.

I have no problem with thinking and pondering about what might happen and the fact that I don't know makes the next ep. of a show even better.

I simply like waiting for the unknown more than the anticipated.
