Ben Holiday
Well I'll assume nobody else has heard of this. I went and picked it up yesterday will tell you all if it's any good later this week. Hey, I finally got around to watching this on new years eve. It was very strange and I must say definitely one of the most screwed up families of all time. The animation is awesome I really like this style and have only come across it before in a few comics. The storyline leaves you almost completely in the dark until about half way through which isn't too bad since there's only thirteen episodes. I don't recommend buying the american edition though since the first dvd only has three episodes and you won't be able to make heads or tails out of the show with only that and will most likely not pick anymore up. Get an import edition with all the ep's so you can go through it in one sitting and be able to understand it all.
Magnum Apex
One of the worst anime I've ever seen. After Zoids and Tekken: The Movie, it is one of my least favorite anime. The characters are boring and uninteresting, lifeless and without motivation. The strange color scheme in the episodes is more disturbing than artistic, and the story just plain sucks.
Haze
hello everbody!! yes it is me posting yet another new thread. . . get over it. lol. sorry. umm. . . .well yeah. the title is self explainatory. . . .i want to talk about Soul Taker. this anime was pretty darn cool! tho it was quite confusing. i had to watch it like 6 times to finally get the point. it was enjoyable though. i think the end was awesome. you know with the whole
Kyosuke absorbing Runa
. i thought that was extremely touching. what are ya'lls favorite parts??
Ben Holiday
My god I can't believe someone else has actually watched this show finally. I tried to start a discussion on it before and not a single response. But on to the topic at hand the art style completely blew me away the first time through it's one of my favorite things about the show. My second favorite thing would was the storyline you were left trying to put the pieces together and I had to watch it through a couple times myself to get it all. Though a bit twisted there at the end with his sister all in all it was a very cool series.
Radical Edward
I loved Soul Taker. Shiro was the best character through out the whole thing. But the whole Runa
wanting to marry Kyoske ( her own brother!) was quit desturbing if u ask me...Soul Crusher was awsome.....Soul Killer scared me..
Dagger
Soul Taker definitely isn't for everyone. That having been said, I like it, and I'm quite happy I picked up the cheap edition of volume 1. The show looks extraordinarily dynamic and is very visually entertaining; this is offset by a simple (albeit trippy) plot. I can't describe its unusual and occasionally bizarre storytelling style without referencing other anime--certain aspects of Soul Taker remind me strongly of its director's most recent work, Le Portrait de Petit Cossette. I would only recommend Soul Taker to people who love style, even at the expense of emotional poignancy and depth. I actually don't think it's all that difficult to empathize with the main character, however. Soul Taker has a surreal, dreamlike atmosphere which is somewhat reminiscient of Alice in Wonderland. While its dub is quite good, I absolutely love Kyosuke's seiyuu (Mitsuki Saiga) and plan to see the show in both English and Japanese. The whole thing comes across as being rather experimental. Fans of the cute female character designs might want to check out Nurse Witch Kogumi, a radically different spin-off series that revolves around a supporting member of Soul Taker's cast. ~Dagger~
Guest Vlade_Rayne
I just wanted to know because this was one of my favorite animes. It was just plain cool.
Welcome to OtakuBoards Vlade_Rayne I?m moving your thread to the existing Soul Taker thread for the following reason. To avoid confusion we ask you to not create another thread but to post in the current one no matter how old it is. It?s a good idea to check the Official Threads Directory to see if one already exists. Or to do a forum search to check for existing threads. Also when creating a thread it's a good idea to do more than just say it was a cool anime. The first post of a thread is especially important, as it needs to spark an intelligent discussion. Once you re-read the rules this will make more sense. Please take a moment to read the Rules and FAQ located on the left sidebar for more information on how to create threads and other aspects of OtakuBoards. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or any of the staff here. ~Aaryanna
Starwind
I saw this series for the first time almost two years ago. It's to this day is one of my favorite anime. The art style is unlike any other anime I had seen up to that point. The constant moving staind glass affect, plus the differentiation in colors between characters in the scenes. That's not even tomention the almost entoxicating story. It starts out so righteous and ends on such a dark note. The whole thing was very dream like and I think tha't what erally pulled me in. All in all, I'll admit that there alot of people out there that probably would have a hard time getting into this one. But if you enjoy amazing art style with some trppy, if not all that deep, plot, then this my friends if for you. Plus, the Soultaker is just a cool hero. I like the cold, hard, anti hero thing.
