[color=red][size=1]ohhhhhhh mannnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! these guys are so awesome!!!! ive been in love with em for like 5 years. :love: and now they hit mainstream. . . and all the little teenie boppers are all over them. . . they dont even know what punk is. . . other than that crap that isnt that they think is. . . such as good charlotte, avril lavigne. . . oh my the list could go on but i should prolly stick to topic. no one wants to hear me rant about the teenies. i reelie dont like that nfg has gone mainstream for several reasons. first off now all tha teenies are all over them. which sux because since im a teen every body will now think i just started listening to them since they went mainstream. but i reelie shouldnt give a darn what others think. :butthead: :D heehee. but i guess if it gives them money its cool.
geez i remember when they played this little coffee house called barnstormers. . . man it was awesome. . . everybody breakin down and dancin and stuff. . . not to metion the $5 cover!! *sighs wistfully* man i wish it were back in the goo ol' days.

As for New Found Glory, they have been rather mainstream for a while now. I never really cared for them... at all. I gave them a bit of a chance at first, but they really just were not for me. Too 'pop/punk'ish for me. There is a difference between the Ramones level of pop/punk, and what that stuff is today.

Right now I cannot even think of how to put it all out into words, but I just do not like them.[/size]

[color=crimson]Yes I like them. I wouldn't consider them 'punk' though, they are more 'pop-punk' if anything. And I personally prefer "Sticks and Stones" to "Nothing Gold Can Stay". I have been a NFG since forever, and think their new stuff is better. They seem to play faster, louder, better. [i]My Friends Over You[/i] I think is their best song.

I saw them live this past spring with Hot Rod Circut, Less Than Jake (******* awsome) and Good Charlotte (eww). NFG played last, so I had to stay for GC. They were better live then they are on their record, but they still are sub-par in my opinion.[/color]

I like NFG's self-titled CD (I think it was self-titled. I'm horrible at keeping track of this stuff. >_<) and Sticks and Stones. From the Screen to your Stereo is *Very* cool...they do the Never-Ending Story theme, for crying out loud.

My friend Jay from GA turned me on to NFG. He plays guitar, man you should hear him play along with some of their songs, he's awesome...but anyway, I'm OT. Was probably two summers ago, I think...something like that. Jay's always giving me new music to listen to. ^_^

Hahaha, they've been mainstream forever. Haha, so you call NFG punk? You really need to learn some stuff kid. NFG is what we call pop punk, or *** punk. People who play crap about their friends, girlfriends, or any of that other stuff. That isn't what punk is about.

You really do not have much of a way to prove that you are older than him. Your profile only says you were born on August 30. Besides, age does not really matter, so why you tried to pull 'seniority' over him is beyond me. I am sure there are fourteen year old kids out there that could probably kick my *** on whatever level.

Now, I do not know you that well and I admit that, but from what I have seen of your music taste and what I know of his Fiasco knows punk better than you do. I reiterate that I do not know you so I could be mistaken, but so far I am not seeing that.

I give you some credit for preferring the "old school" scene, even so far back to when they were, as you said, making little money and low on fans. Though in my honest opinion, New Found Glory has never really been all that good.

Fiasco's post was legit to be put in this topic. You may have not liked what he said or how he put it, but we cannot expect everyone to see things on the same level.

Yeah, I saw them on their Civic tour with Less than Jake (******* rocked the house) and GC. And because I love irony so much, that concert was hilarious.

But yeah, NFG are alright. Love their cover of 'Goonies R Good Enuff' and 'Boy Crazy' is awesome as well. Not my favourite band, but still alright.

i never had any tension. i just have anger problems- especialy (sp?) with people who try to say they know more about punk than me. i didnt need a lecture on what punk isnt. as stated before i know all to well that nfg is more of a pop/punk group. oh and by the by piro, what do you know of my music tastes??? not to be rude or anything. the only threads on this forum i have posted in are this one, one on the used and one on from autumn to ashes. o well. i dony mean to try and pick fights; its second nature. and i guess senority doesnt matter but for the record i AM older than him. but whatever it doesnt matter.

The stupid thing is that people judge others by the music they listen to. That people get p***ed off when one person says "That band sucks" or "I don't like that band," and then proceed to get into horrible arguments about which "type" of music a certain group is or is not.

The stupid thing is honest threads like this, where people should be able to go and talk about what they like, turn into nasty little flame wars between fans and haters.

I've learned to just not post in threads about bands I can't stand (other than LP, since I was just being sarcastic considering we've had 10 others just like it). I don't see a need for this sort of nonsense, and it only seems to happen in these "punk" threads. Funny how fans of a supposedly anarchist/rebellious form of music are so concerned over image, but whatever.

I should add that this last part is more of a general statement based on many things I've seen, most of which hasn't happened here. I know someone will take that far more personally than it was meant to be.

Well umm, I'm not taking it personally, but just gonna say this... Uh, not all punk is anarchist or rebellious, people stereotype it because SOME people [I swear I won't mention names] portray the image in an idiotic and fashioncore way.

Well you know, I saw NFG in concert cause I was bored one day and plus when I liked Finch, Finch was in the concert line-up, so I saw NFG, they weren't bad in concert. But Finch was pretty good. So what I've got to say is that NFG isn't that bad in concert. ;)

I know that not all punk is, I listen to a decent amount of it myself. Punk was more or less founded on those basic ideas, compared to the genres at the time.I think you know what I was trying to say though, so I guess that's all the matters.

Really, I don't think there is another group of music fans that are so concerned over such things. The only thing that seems to compare are so called "goths"... the ones I'm referring to that think Marilyn Manson is the epitome of it for some bizarre reason heh (obviously they don't even listen to the stuff that counts).

And I'm not saying that even a majority of punk fans are like this (there aren't any here at OB in my opinion, especially compared to other forums I've seen such as GAF), but there are enough that it's a nuisance.

So that's my thought on that.
