Heh. A good party cartoon..

Futurama.. Very very enjoyable, and fresh. I do believe that a lot of people on OB enjoy Futurama (There was a thread back asking about your top 3 favorite American Cartoons.. Futurama and Family Guy were frequent).

^_^ They don't have enough episodes, IMO.. And considering it's pretty much cancelled, I think that Groening should come out with a show about the past.. Like, say, The Rennisiance. (Did I spell that right?)

The only reason they are airing anymore at this point is because FOX preempted so many of them. There are actually only 4 seasons, but because of what FOX has done... they are making it 5 seasons.

CN wants to get the rights to new episodes of Family Guy and Futurama, but FOX won't allow it. The funny thing is that the Family Guy DVD set is selling excellently, and the show is pulling in better ratings for the 18 to 34 crowd than both Leno and Letterman, which it is up against. FOX screwed themselves over, and instead of doing something about it, they are still trying to mess it up for everyone.

Apparently because of this all, FOX wants Seth McFarlane to make some sort of film based on Family Guy. I don't know what will become of that.

Anyway, Futurama is one of my favorite shows. I think you can trace a decline in quality on the Simpsons to when Futurama actually started. Groening's influence moved on to a totally different show.

I think the only people who hate it just either think it is a Simpsons rip-off or make too many comparisons without giving it a fair chance. It's one of the best shows on TV, in my opinion.

The DVD set is worth getting if you haven't yet.

The set is only like $28 to $35 if you look around. I'm sure for a bit more if you buy it at some place like Sam Goody, which price gouges.

If you live in Europe, or have a Region Free DVD player, they're up to the third season on DVDs already.

I'm pretty sure FOX just let go of Family Guy completely, and the reason why Futurama wont' ever be making new episodes because everyone that worked on has moved on.

I only have the US set. It's quite nice, I think.

The picture quality is decent, although there is some noise on the print. Some of the lines shake every once in a while too. It's not bad, and totally forgivable considering it's a TV show. Most people won't even notice this, but I'm picky about it all. The show definitely never sounded better.

There are some nice extras... Deleted scenes and an animatic for the pilot. That's basically like the black and white sketch version they send to the final animators.

It comes in a little box in these neat little slimline DVD cases, which I think are actually quite cool.

It's definitely worth the money. My only gripe is the lack of a play all option, just like with the Simpsons sets.

Personally, Futurama is definetely one of my favorite shows (I'm actually enjoying it and Family Guy a lot more than I'm enjoying The Simpsons right now).

Yeah, I think that the decline is fairly noticable. When Futurama was made, a lot of The Simpsons most talented writers went along with it to make Futurama a good show from the beginning. With Futurama cancelled, The Simpsons will (hopefully) start to get back some of that quality, but I'll still miss Futurama. God, it was a great show and I'll enjoy every new episode that comes on.

Well I watch Futurama when it's on Adult Swim. I haven't seen very many episodes, so it's a nice alternative to watching The Simpsons. I really think The Simpsons just went down the drain. All of the new episodes suck.

Futurama has been my favorite animated show ever since it first started over here in the UK. I have all three season DVD's, and I can't get enough of the show. Bender is just classical, as are Farnsworth, Zoidberg, Zapp Branigan and Morbo (the news reading alien).

Morbo: "Morbo can't read his cue's, I've forgotten how to pronounce that little man with a hat on..."

Female newsreader: "That's a 'T'... it's pronounced 'tu'.

Morbo: "Hello little man... I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!"

------------------------------------------------

Zapp: "You're the finest male specimen I've seen since my mirror got grease on it..."

Zapp: "Kif, the easiest way into a girl's bed is through her parents... have sex with them and you're in."

------------------------------------------------

Zoidberg: "I'm going to get my old shell out of the dumpster... and maybe get those potato chips Amy didn't finish..."

Amy: "Those were toe nail clippings!"

Zoidberg: "A feast is a feast..."

"Please rise for our national anthem!"

*The fighting music from the original Star Trek plays*

Branigan is probably the greatest idiot the world has ever, and will ever see... I think he's probably the descendent of Ralph Wiggum and Disco Stu, what with the idiocy and the woman chasing.

"Or were you born with a heart full of neutrality?"

That was probably the greatest episode ever.

"It's a beige alert!"

"If I don't make it through this... tell my wife... hello"

-----

Its too bad it's just a few episodes between it and being over completely. It seems so much 'smarter' than The Simpsons. Sure the Simpsons have spouts of smart comedy, but it seems like 90% of the Futurama jokes are more obscure, which is great if you know whats going on, but even if you don't, there usually is still something to laugh about.

His name is Kif, if memory serves, or Kiff. He reminds me of Sideshow Bob, what with the disgusted groans he makes, similar to when Bob gets fwapped in the face with the rakes.

"Kif, hold up the flag. And would it hurt for you to wave it a little!?"
