Bleh. I dunno what I pick, lol.

You got these crafty stealthy guy and girls on one side, that'd kill someone in their sleep if they were ordered to. Cowards, and not very well thought of. And then you have these strong honourable warriors that would stab themselves through some horrible belly-part and die veeeery slowly if they felt they had shamed themself.

Bleh. I dunno what I pick. Probably the ninja, though.

I thought Tenchu 2 really caught that Ninja-amurai thing well nearer the end >.>
*points to Tatsumaru and says something about ninjas having some sort of code of honour also*

Well, I'd definitely have to pick ninja as the better of the two. Mostly because, as they stay in the shadows, stay stealthy, and they don't have to jump right out and get messy about things. Also, ninjas aren't particularly dishonorable, they are just perceived that way because they, as stated before, avoid jumping out and getting messy about things. They are just as honorable as any samurai but the general public considers anyone staying in the shadows that much as dishonorable.

Double_B_Daigo ninja were not cowards at all. They would sneak into an enemy camp alone with a worse weapon then the enemy had and kill the comanding officer with no one at all knowing. An if there was an attack that followed quickly the army that just lost there commander would be in complete confusion. They also had to stay out of sight because they couldn't possibly fight off hundreds of soldiers. Sorry for the ranting just wanted to show that THEY WEREN'T COWARDS. Thanks for your time.

EDIT: What is Seppuku?

I, as anyone who even vaguely knows me could guess, vote for samurai. Samurai, samurai, samurai. Bushido, in my opinion, is an excellent system. However, I don't really like the idea of seppuku that much; If you screw up, then make up for it! But anyways, I don't like ninjas that much, as back-stabbing was usually a part of the job. There were probably some exceptions, but still; I don't like back-stabbing. :nope: Samurai all the way. Itte ki masu.

Seppuku is when a Samurai, who has brought shame upon his master or himself, decides to kill himself.
They usually do this by slitting their stomachs open, left to right, with a blade.

Thats pretty much a breif summary of what it is.

Its rather surprising that no one mentioned the Ku-no-ichi... Kunoichi, to elaborate, are female ninjas. The Japanese Kanji meaning woman, when taken apart, becomes 1 hiragana Ku, 1 katakana no, and 1 kanji ichi... therefore, the female ninjas were called the Kunoichi... they basically did the same thing average ninjas did, but they had advantages over male ninjas in many situations such as coaxing men for information, or because women were seen as harmless and thus gaining easier entrance into castles and such.
But anyway, back to the topic... I prefer Samurais, ofcourse... I study their arts... I would be mad to suggest otherwise... especially when I'm typing this message in my dojo.... *looks around to see if the coast is clear* But I think Ninjas are pretty cool too

I think it would be neat to live the life of a wandering shugyosha (a student of the sword) but I don't think that I would want to be samurai or ninja. I guess I have a real problem with giving a person the right to make me commit suicide. A samurai was expected to fall on his sword with but a word from his master, and most ninja clan members were used for one mission and were then expected to commit suicide as well...it doesn't seem to glamorous or honorable to me...

I guess they really didn't have much of a glamorous life... but the age was different, the time period was different, the culture was different, and the ideas were different. Even though it seems rather... well.. stupid or foolish to simply kill yourself after your master orders you to, in those days, it was actually one of the best ways to die. You could always have been simply chopped up to little pieces without any ceremony at all. When captured by the enemy, being allowed to commit harakiri was actually very lenient... it atleast allowed you to prove your manhood and keep your honor. Times change, ideas change.

The ethos of the Code of Honour that Samurai hold is in itself, good. But they have to commit seppuku if they stuff up, lose face, or on command from a superior. giri(sp?) is all important. it ios the respect for superiors. Samurai are cool, but their life is difficult and strict. and Ninja are way cooler, and will defeat a samurai. Samurai have more power, Ninja can stop them before they get that far. Throwing knives, garrots etc. etc. Ninja far outpace Samurai. But Samurai are accorded more deference (nose pushing by lower ranks) so it depends what your after...

hhhmmmmmm.... cant really decide. i think it would be cool to be a bit of both Ninja and Samurai. kinda like a ninja with honor, or a silent samurai. thought the idea would be conflicting enough not to be realiy, it still would be cool. kinda like Jubei from ninja scroll.

Samurai, they are ruthless and fearless... they do not need to sneek around... the Kensai were really good at fighting... they were more powerful than ninjas.... there is my reason.....

I like the samurai cuze they have cool swords not like a ninja, they got sucky swords. But the ninjas have to throwing stars those are cool. Like in Yu-Yu hakusho they have the episode were Uskai was fighing a ninja that had throwing stars with the tips had gun powder so when they hit somthing it exploded!! sry i had to say that. So i would have to say both of em are cool! (more on the ninja a little more)

I'd have to say I'd rather be a samurai. I mean, I love the idea of protecting people, following a code of honor, and being able to kick anyones rear-end if they threaten somebody, and wandering around like a hobo, not having to worry about 'nuthin. Camp out every night, make a fire, fall asleep under the stars...practically no worries...its the life for me...
And if I turn evil and kill hundreds of people I could get a reverse-blade sword and swear never to kill again! (Hm, where have we heard that before...?)

And ninjas, well...in movies/shows/parodies, whenever there is a vast army of ninjas, they always get torn apart like tissue paper at the hands of one ninja/samurai, or a very small team of them.
