Puppetmaster, single word posts are against our rules. I strongly advise that you visit our rules page (http://www.theotaku.com/rules.shtml) before you continue posting, just so that you're aware of how things work at OB. ^_^

It's okay. Most new members need to be shown the ropes at some point or another...so don't worry about it. Once you get an understanding of how OB works, I'm sure you'll enjoy the place. Welcome, by the way. ^_^

-yawns and stretches- Welcome to Otaku. :D

Anyways. I myself do not have ADHD, but my boyfriend does. Though his parents, being the rich, white, republicans that they are, won't admit it. So, he's going untreated.

My mother is a clinical social worker, and one of her side responsibilities at the University of Maryland Medical Center, is to head an ADHD Treatment Clinic, for parents and their children.

I have a friend who is in the grade above me who does have ADD. He is in my Gifted and Talented Class that I am probably going to quit because the teacher is a Bit**. Anyway, yah he is cool and it doesn't seem like he has it.

ADHD people are not always hyper, Infact, sometimes they're more serious than "normals," And they are not diagnosing ADD anymore, It's all ADHD

Yeah, as far as I know, "ADD" is a very generalized term. It's like skitzophrenia -- that term can be used to describe a massive range of mental issues, mostly very minor. But it's a word that has become known for extreme cases.

I always thought that ADD and ADHD were the same thing. I'd always thought that "Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder" was a kinda vague attempt to make "Attention Deficit Disorder" more specific or something.

One thing I will say...is that it's a shame so many kids are on ADD medication -- many don't need it. It's funny how people blamed the Columbine shooters' killings on Doom, when both kids were heavily into ADD-based medication (read: mind altering medication that might have been wrong for their condition). There has been a lot of reports about kids getting medication that isn't right for them. I think sometimes a child with a difficult personality is labeled as having ADD simply as a matter of convenience. You know...throw a pill their way and it'll all be fine.

EDIT: Puppetmaster...please put more effort into your posts. "Strange, isn't it?" is really a kinda pointless post. I recommend waiting until you can include some more thoughts into your posts (you might want to respond to specific comments or offer new ideas, just as a suggestion). You'll get there. ~_^

ADHD I do not have, and have never seen.

ADD pratically runs in my family. We are always changing our mind, shifting activities, and lose interest in things very fast. We can't even sit though a movie.

My meds make me have a violent streak
You're not quite grasping the concept here....

I do not have ADHD, but I also think that it's a stupid thing made up by female teachers that can't deal with active boys in their classes. Notice how girls are rarely diagnosed with it.

It's an excuse for incompetent instructors. Personally. But I do believe that skitzos and MP people and such do exist and have actual problems.

I have synesthesia, a secondary sense of color and sound. Hard to explain....but yes. It's not really a disorder, just kind of different. My boyfriend definetly has ADHD, but he's okay now.

That could be a little offensive too some people *cough*Dumb@$$*cough*. There are quite a few people who have it and the percentage of people who have it in the army are great. Me and my Pops have it and we don't have too pay for it because of free medical and dental.
